How do you know when your cabin is ready?

So apparently when you first board the ship your cabin may not be ready, how do you know when you can enter?

Depends on the cruise line. On Holland America, when you board, your cabin will be available.

Usually cabins are available by 1 pm.

Cabins are usually ready by 1:00 or 1:30 and the announcement will bemade over the loud speaker.

Depends on your cruise line. On Carnival for example, the cabin will be ready as soon as you board even as a first timer when you buy the FTTF.

On Royal Caribbean they close the doors that lead to the rooms and open them up at 1:00 when your room is ready! I don't know about any other cruise line though!

They usually make an announcement, but you will also know when they open the doors to the hallways were the rooms are located.

Cabins on Princess ships are usually ready when you board. Sometimes there has been a delay on Regal and Royal out of FLL (cabins ready by 1 pm)

The "fire doors" are closed until the cabins are open to passengers.

They usually make announcements. So every 20-30 minutes when you board they will welcome you to the ship and remind you rooms aren't reading until 1:30. They will usually make an announcement when rooms are ready and they will open the doors between the stairwells and the hallways with cabins.

Think the "OP" is taking a NCL cruises.

ON NCL the hall doors leading to the cabins are closed with a notice saying they will open at a certain time normally 1:00 or 1:30 in addition announcements will be made.

On Princess, our cabin has always be ready when we board.
