janice2348 Posted April 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2014 I noticed there are not a lot of posts on Grandeur. I will be sailing on her on 4/26. Hoping for a noro free and wonderful cruise:D. I will also be happy to answer questions on the port of Baltimore. We will be driving, not flying so can't answer questions about that. If anyone has a question they would like answered please let me know. I will be off the grid during the cruise but will take note of any questions posted beforehand. Also will try to write a detailed review with lots of pictures and answer any questions post cruise. Please let me know if there is anything you are particularly interested in knowing...also will post copies of the cruise compasses.

We are scheduled to sale on the Grandeur in September. I've read some not so great reviews on the beds and the bathrooms. Would love to hear what you think of the beds and would also like to see photos of the bathroom. We are booked in a large interior room so I know that your room may be different. Hope you have a great cruise!!
LuvBNatC Posted April 21, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 21, 2014 Janice, I'll be on Grandeur to Bermuda in May, and I'd be interested in an update on how they're keeping the norovirus at bay on your sailing. Presumably, it's under control now because I don't think they delayed the current sailing. But I'd like to hear if they're once again allowing people to get their own food in the Windjammer, use the salt and pepper shakers in the MDR, and things like that. PS: Have a great cruise! janice2348 Posted April 21, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted April 21, 2014 Thanks for the questions! I will take cabin pics, especially of the bathroom. And I will also report on how they are handling noro( hoping it will be a noro free cruise!) Keep those questions coming!

Also, we like to play shuffleboard on the Explorer, not sure if this ship has it. Please check for me. :DThanks,Tom

Have sailed with Royal in the past but not on this ship. Any comments you have would be helpful. Thanks and enjoy your cruise!!

GoldenDomer Posted April 22, 2014 #12 Share Posted April 22, 2014 Despite being an unpleasant subject, any reports or observations regarding the widely reported plumbing issues aboard the Grandeur would be useful.

I have no pics, but can offer my insight. Our bed was comfortable, very firm. I thought the bathroom itself was fine, ample storage. The shower, was a challenge, however "do-able". Leg shaving was not easy. The size was small and the shower curtain was thin and "clingy". I took the advice of previous cruisers and brought heavy metal clips to attach to the bottom of the curtain to weigh it down. I think it helped some. Rare rrraydon Posted April 22, 2014 #14 Share Posted April 22, 2014 I'm contemplating sailing the Grandeur in December. Please post a review of your experience when you return. I would love to hear your opinion. :D
JMG Posted April 22, 2014 #15 Share Posted April 22, 2014 I would like to know what time they start embarkation. It was 11 on Enchantment but I have read that some cruises started embarkation earlier? Thanks! Have a great cruise!
janice2348 Posted April 22, 2014 Author #16 Share Posted April 22, 2014 Thanks everyone for your questions. I am taking notes:D I will try to address all of them if I can. A note on boarding time: we will not be boarding until around 1pm...my understanding is boarding starts around 10:30. We want to just drop our carry ons in our stateroom. I will try to find out what time boarding started if I can. Our setsail pass states between 10:30-3:30. We are gold so we have priority boarding...no one pays any attention to boarding times anyway. Thank you all for your good wishes for a wonderful cruise. I am beyond excited and finding it hard to work! Thanks to the poster who had the large interior state room. I believe ours is standard size but I will certainly take pictures. I will try to ask for copies of the menu, if not I will try to take a picture. Please also let me know if you want "food porn". I wil also post copies of the cruise compasses. I still have the ones from two years ago:rolleyes: I will be wearing my cruise critic wind breaker so the crew better watch out:D Keep the questions coming. We will be staying with MIL so I can't comment on hotels in the area. We will be parking at the pier. Last time it was really easy and a short walk. Parking is $15 per day. laumicmah Posted April 22, 2014 #20 Share Posted April 22, 2014 My inlaws will also be on this cruise. We, us and SILs, bought them gift certs to book it. They are doing a balcony for the very first time (been on many cruises, always in OV). They are worried about the Noro. I hope the cruise goes well and they don't get sick or we may never hear the end of it ;). They are also doing the anytime dining for the 1st time ever and I worry about that. I told them to go to the MDR the 1st day on the ship and try to set up a standing dinner reservation time...they like to eat early and they will not like it if they have to wait to be seated. Maybe I'll call them today and tell them to go online and try to set up a reservation now (not sure if they can figure out how to do that). I made one for the first night only waiting to see if we like our servers or not. We loved MTD the first time as we are not locked into a set dining time. We only had a really long wait once without a reservation, mainly because we wanted a table for two. I hope your parents have a wonderful time. As far as noro goes, don't sweat it. You can catch noro anywhere.

janice2348 Posted April 23, 2014 Author #23 Share Posted April 23, 2014 Any other questions? This is what I have so far: How are the beds?/size of the cabin Pics of the bathroom Windjammer-noro issues and how handled Same for MDR MDR menus Is there shuffleboard? Cruise compasses Plumbing issues/smell Embarkation time? I plan on writing a very detailed revue with lots of pics. If I missed anything please let me know.
