navybaby1113 Posted May 13, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2015 We're going to Alaska in July and I wanted to get a rain cover for my DSLR. Any recommendations?
chipmaster Posted May 13, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2015 Google rainsleeves, the optech brand is pretty good! Actually very re-usable, living in the northwest I have yet to wear out my first two.

Rare Turtles06 Posted May 13, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 13, 2015 I second the recommendation for Optech rainsleeves. You can get them from B&H, among other places. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/469774-REG/OP_TECH_USA_9001132_18_Rainsleeve_Set_of.html Enjoy your trip! janmcn Posted May 13, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 13, 2015 Third recommendation for Optech rain sleeves....Cheap and effective. I always have at least one in my bag...usually carry a second one for any friends we travel with. Three to a pack.
xlxo Posted May 14, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 14, 2015 In addition a rain cover... you might want to explore Sigma's new "WR" filter line. These weather resistant filters offer a special coating that repels water. You might not need to wipe your lenses as often.
TruckerDave Posted May 17, 2015 #7 Share Posted May 17, 2015 shower cap and a rubber band. Simple, cheap and effective. ;)
Mr. Click Posted May 22, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 22, 2015 Another vote for the OptTech. Nothing fancy but easy to use and effective. The one draw back that I see is it is kind of big and clumsy on a smaller camera with a short lens. The cost is not much more than that shower cap and rubber band
GUT2407 Posted May 22, 2015 #9 Share Posted May 22, 2015 Another for optech
woody73 Posted June 6, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 6, 2015 I've used the OpTech Rainsleeve at Antarctica and the Galapagos with good results. Woody
ikirumata Posted June 7, 2015 #11 Share Posted June 7, 2015 Another vote for Optech! Took a pair to Alaska and they were great! I used them along with my lens hoods and the camera was dry and the rain was kept off the front of the lens.
rjgdjg Posted June 8, 2015 #12 Share Posted June 8, 2015 Hi- Believe it or not, when we went to Alaska, my spouse used a disposable shower cap to cover his camera. It was cheap...and it worked! - Musing About Cruising
