As shown below, Captain Frank started his rotation (Master in Charge) on 4/19/15 and will be on board for 10 weeks unless he and Captain Aris have made other arrangements. Captain Aris is currently on vacation.

That is typical for Captains, but they can vary it a bit with the cooperation of their fellow Captain.

Yes, they work 10 weeks and then they are off for 10 weeks. This can change and the Captains can work out their own vacation schedule, but if that happens the variation is a week or two.

Other Officers on board are on a longer schedule because they aren't under the same amount of stress that the Master of the ship is.:D

We just couldn't wait to put the face to the name so were delighted when he joined for pictures on day 8. What a pleasant man he is. This depends on the company and the flag state. In past days with European flag and respectively binding tariff agreements salaries were higher in general. Now highest payments and best working schedules and benefits are provided by the oil and off-shoring business I believe. There are few companies left who still provide a 1:1 schedule, this applies to container and cruise lines. Salarywise you can find some orientation if you google for existing tariff agreements.

The answer is yes...and no. He was hired for only one contract.

They both are assigned to a particular ship. They usually work 10 weeks and 10 weeks are off..... it could vary if one needs to be off for a little longer period.

So when you see the name of the captain and "started rotation" - that is when that particular captain started his duty on the ship ...... so 10 weeks later the other captain will take over.

Anyone know if captain Per is still in Oasis? Ten weeks were up end of May. I was hoping he would be captain for my upcoming cruise 6/27. :)
