Just saying hi from the Magic

Just a quick post to say hi from the Magic. First cruise out of PC is going well, no complaints. The ship is in good shape and so far both the service in the MDR and the food has been excellent. We have YTD and no waits so far.

The ship is sightly different from the Breeze, certainly it's decor is more Carnival/Farcus, and a few things are laid out differently. Otherwise the Magic is a welcome addition to the Florida ships.

Alchemy is a cool edition.

Trying Guy's BBQ today.

Smoking has been further restricted and makes the Ocean plaza area a little less smoky than on the Breeze.Making Alchemy a nice bar to frequent. Smoking is only on Deck 11 Starboard aft, no cover and Deck 5 aft, no cover and no longer smoking at the Red Frog Tables. It is aft of that. Nice chairs but no cover.

No more smoking in view of the main pool.

Will be wrapping up the 3 day cruise tommorow and starting the 7 day.

I may not be checking this thread often as I am enjoying my fun day at sea :D

Later between BBQ and Tea Time I will see if I can post more. Just quick thought and a hello for now.

Oh yes, we did learn one thing, inside cabins are not for us. We have 4 in one and it's too small. For just two maybe but not for a family. Thankfully we are moving cabins to a Spa Balcony for the next leg of the B2B.

They are dark I will give them that.

Is the deck 5 smoking area starboard or port side, or all the way aft? We booked a deck 7 starboard balcony mid-ship but it's really closer to aft, based on the fact that the deck 5 smoking area used to be port. Hoping we're still not close to where smoking is.

Glad to hear you are enjoying the Magic. I am curious as to how boarding is done in Port Canaveral. We will be sailing the Magic July 23, 2016 and doing the same itinerary as the 7 day cruise leaving out tomorrow. Would love information on the ports as well as any other information you are willing to share about the ship and activities. Enjoy your Sea day and the second leg of your vacation :D:D

I know this will draw some flames. But, I no longer care. I used to like practically everything on this cruise line. I am not happy with the smoking areas change. With a PVP I got a balcony on deck 11 that was close to the midship smoking area. This was just three months ago I booked, the change happened last month. That has vanished and I'd have to walk to the corner of the AFT. My other option, is taking the nearby elevator to the casino bar. I was practically on top of the windy ship and was okay with smoking out there, but now going indoors. I chose this room because of mobility problems and to be considerate being near a smoking area. Now that it has changed, I can only ride the elevator to the casino bar.

After I was informed by a cruiser, I asked to cancel. I could with an $1,100 penalty. So, that wasn't happening. In turn, dining reservations canceled, pre-paid tips canceled. I'm not happy. This cruise is sold out. You'd think Carnival would want someone that is excited about going on a cruise than someone in my position. They could sell it instantly.

You'd also think they'd have updated maps by now on Carnival's website. Nope, have smokers getting cabins in the old areas still with no official announcement. Heald did confirm the changes when asked on his page.

TRUMPSTER - Have a question for you. I am cruising on the Magic on 5/7/2016 and will be driving to the port on the same day. Did you happen to notice how far the covered parking terminal is from the ship? The cost is double ($120) for a 7 day cruise but I can get off first (VIFP) and would not have to wait for a shuttle and their timing. It's 4 hours of driving to Fort Myers and I didn't want to add additional timing to it.

For what it's worth, the identical thing happened to us on Liberty:mad: There was no forewarning when it happened, just 2 week notice. No cancellations were allowed like the first announcements about balcony smoking. My attitude for the whole cruise was less than stellar.

You are too close, you are on the ship and you'll likely search out smokey areas and complain:rolleyes:

Magic left out of Terminal 6 so Im gonna assume that will be her permanent terminal. Looks like covered parking is right across the street.

That is the parking situation except they are now building a new garage in the open parking lot to the right of the picture. So the construction makes it a bit of a mess.

Parking was not a long walk but it seems parking can be limited, the covered Garage was full not long after we parked, another ship Victory was also sailing with a cruise.

Suess Breakfast was fine, Just tried Guy's BBQ, we were first in line at 11:30. They have two lines, The chicken was very, very good, the beef was good, the pulled pork juicy. The chicken was very good and juicy!

My DW liked the beans but I was less impressed. DW liked the Mac & Cheese.

Alchemy is located next to the taste bar in the ocean plaza area of Deck 5

Portside, next to red frog pub. Directly forward of the Red Frog.

Thanks to the smoking on deck 5 lanai not there anymore, the Alchemy area is

Some Casino smell still is in the Starboard side of the ocean plaza but in general it was way better smell wise from the Breeze.

As a non smoker, I love the changes. Smoke doesn't bother me, but I have a relative that is allergic to smoke, she gets stuffed up and her throat starts to close. I'm sorry that an addiction doesn't allow you to have a good time on a cruise. My mom smoked for 45 years and quit and is much healthier because of it. It's not like you can't smoke at all. Just have to go to different areas.

Also, taking your tips away from hard working employees is a childish way of trying to show your displeasure. Think about that, your depriving someone of pay because you dislike changes that carnival made that those workers had ZERO to do with. Shame....

I'm not a complainer. Just don't want to be right above a smoking section. And I'm not.
