White Christmas holiday for 2016

Just wondering if anybody has had a white Christmas holiday and where did they go? Thought it would be something different to celebrate DH birthday. Any suggestions welcome😀

Our son and niece did Vancouver together one year.

We had a white Christmas in Quebec two years ago. Absolutely outstanding and by far, our most memorable Christmas. We had 5 days there and had Christmas lunch at the Frontinac and went dogsledding just out of town. Lovely Christmas spirit everywhere.

Cannot recommend it more highly.

Last was a couple of years back in Europe - brilliant.

Was in Berlin on Christmas Day. Had Christmas carols at the railway station - a lovely experience.

That's sound great guys better still Can$. Anyone done Norway? If we go away we like to be away for 4-5 weeks to make the airfare worthwhile.

We landed in Zurich in mid-December and it had recently snowed. It was like being in a fairytale especially in the old town where we were staying. However we were told that it was a bit unusual to have snow that early so it's probably not a good bet for a guaranteed white Christmas.

The Christmas markets in Europe are just beautiful too and well worth a wander around.

We haven't been in Norway in winter but I think Austria might be worth a thought for a white Christmas and probably a bit less expensive than Norway.

We too are thinking about going. :D

The ideal would be to have a White Christmas in Britain/Europe , and then join one of the ships leaving Southampton in early January on their World Voyage , and cruise home...:):)

But you can't have a White Christmas in 'Straya can ya.

I lived in Norway for a while. Over Winter note that it gets really dark, especially the further north you go. In Trondheim, you just see the sunrise around 11:30 and set a couple of hours later, and don't really get daylight. Further north, you won't even get that.

So it's good as an experience, but not the best time to go as a tourist. Oslo gets a bit more light, but it's still not a great time to visit.

You still get the white Christmas in mainland Europe - imo Germany is the best for that, with the Christmas markets and architecture.

I have had a couple of Xmas in New York State when my sister use to live there. They are now in Florida have been to Caribbean but not to both extreme weather at the same time. Luckily you are allowed extra luggage with flights to USA. Great time for shopping😊

Thanks for info. I am doing a River cruise end of August maybe we can do it again for the Christmas 2016. That's if they are half price again😃

We had a white Christmas when we lived in U.K. several years ago.

Seeing the Christmas lights in London was very special.

Have had an extremely white xmas and new year on an expedition ship in Antarctica. They helicoptered us onto a huge iceberg where Santa was just standing around twiddling his tumbs.

Was fun. I am not an Xmasy person at all so the santa bit was too cheesy for me but it was a good laugh. Then we had a huge all day roast dinner on the bow of the ship in falling snow.

Hi - no sorry I dont mix real life with internet life so pics are never posted.

We were in the US one year for Christmas and wanted a White Christmas.

We decided on Jackson Holes, Wyoming.

Had 2 meters of snow over the week we spent there. It was amazing!!!!!!!!!

We rode skidos through Yellowstone, did the most amazing animal tour in Grand Tetons, Dog Sledded, Skied and wandered around in the snow.

It was magic. (maybe not as magic as being on an ice floe with Santa - but amazing.

I love Switzerland and Germany.

Currently looking at Salzburg Austria or Vienna. Would love to hire a old wood cottage for a week and then go to all the Christmas markets.

Any suggestions?
