Casinos at Sea current offers...

I just called CAS to inquire about discounts for our next cruise and was very surprised at the small amount that I was quoted as our potential "savings" and wondered what the "going rate" is for any others that have recently booked through CAS.

Our entire family gambles at a high level ( I am probably the highest!) and last trip my discount alone was around $5000 off of our trip. This time I was offered $500! Level of play has NOT changed - if anything it was HIGHER last trip....EXACT same cruise dates as last trip and same SHIP.

Also, does it ever matter who you speak to? I HATE even calling these people anymore as it always seems as though you are BOTHERING them. I find the customer service to be poor and just wondered if anyone else thought that the perks AND service of this group is going downhill?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

It's anyone guess, we got the same offer on the cruise we were looking at as 2 years ago.

Perhaps the date and ship you were looking at did not have any CAS allowable cabins left. I have heard they only have so many cabins per ship that they are designated.

We have taken a number of cruises with at least a balcony comped. And played heavy enough to know the host well.

But, the offers on the last few calls were marginal, and the service is always a challenge. They just do not seem to want to help.

And, you must confirm on the spot. No 24 hr hold. As a result, we have saved lots of money by just going to Vegas. And way more food choices.

When was the last time you cruised on NCL? They changed their rating system some time ago and well fell into a "black hole" of sorts because of the change over. We have since cruised again and are back at our old level of discounts.

I'm thinking if you skip the casino, and take that $5 grand and buy a suite, you will be a sure winner. Unlike in the casino! :D

Actually, that's exactly what we did! Booked BOTH Garden Villas! But the $5K discount times two sure helped with the price.....

Problem is no matter WHAT I spend on a suite/cabin I will STILL be in the casino WAY too much! But that's my thing......I love to gamble!

I know that there is a definite formula that involves time and dollars spent at the slot machines, but for table players it's more arbitrary. A lot depends on the Pit Bosses.

We've had nothing but terrific customer service from CAS, but then again, my husband spends so much time in the casino it's almost obscene. Thank God for all the fabuloso CC friends I've made or I might as well be cruising alone!:eek:;):D

We've found that we get the best comp deals by going through our Harrah's marketing rep. We have a long relationship with this person and he works hard on our behalf with CAS.

It is true that the level of comp offer varies with the ship, itinerary, and your past play. You won't get as much of a comp on the Epic Caribbean cruises at the height of the season even if you're a heavy player...NCL has no problem filling those cabins at full retail pricing.

Well for my cruise on the Epic, CAS would not comp me a full room, only a b erth for me because they said my husband didn;t gamble enough on the last cruise.

Well I guess I gambled enough on the Epic, because our room on the Sun for the next cruise is comped...go figure...

They would only offer me and my husband an inside on the Epic and didn't even say anything about my husbands play being small. I qualified for a balcony on every other ship. But that was OK I'm not ready to try the Epic yet anyway.

OP, it could be as someone said above, there are specific "levels" of comps and discounts for each sailing depending on how many total cabins and how many of the specific category you are booking are already booked by CAS guests. We have always been pretty lucky, but tend to book only a couple months before a cruise and shop around on ships and dates. My play is generally about the same on all sailings, hubby doesn't play enough to qualify for anything.. Best comp was on GV at ~$13,000 discount but the percentage was only about 33% off, last week got ~$6,000 off a courtyard villa (from $9500 total so 60% off). But we were one of only a couple of CAS guests on the sailing, maybe even the only full comp? (when you are looking at suites, even a couple of CAS guests already booked can skew the comps). Try looking at another ship, another date and see what you come up with.. Likely just that particular sailing.. Since Ron left CAS, I have not found another great rep, they all seem the same.

Boy you are right about Ron, I miss him....always dealt with Andre after Ron, he seems rather impersonal...just doing his job nothing more nothing less..

I agree that "play" is the only thing that matters! And I am happy to report that a "second" phone call made the difference between $500 for each GV and $5000! Thankfully my daughter was NOT willing to take the first response! So I am once again a CAS fan!

But it is frustrating as there does NOT seem to be any accountability or "method" to their figures. And I agree with the other posters that made mention of different sailing dates, etc. But this was TWO quotes on the SAME cruise - SAME date! So again, it seems sort of arbitrary?

Of course everyone in our family gambles quite a lot - none more than me! So CAS and NCL will make their money back for sure!

Believe me when I say that the powers that be at CAS read these threads, maybe the second call came after they saw this. Or perhaps you called too quickly after your cruise and they hadn't gotten all the numbers in from the ship yet. At any rate.....

Just out of curiosity, what kind play are you talking about. Did you guys have to spend your whole cruise in the casino or a few hours per day. Also to receive the types of discounts you Guys/Gals are talking about, are you mainly playing table games or slots? I love gambling too, I was just wondering if it was worth even being rated by CAS. Thanks in advance.

Dont spend all day in the casino, but do spend a lot of the night ..lol. I am slot player and play 1-5 cent machines but usually max bet in them. Except last cruise, was not winning ANYTHING dropped to $1.25 and hit the jackpot for $2000 ! Still better than $0

As often is mentioned, CC is a wealth of information. I called CAS and transferred my reservation to them. I didn't get as much as I had hoped for, but I did get almost $650 off, but lost my $100 OBC.

Have found if you are not happy call back and they have always done better. But things seem to be tight now. Tried to book a 10 repo from Tampa Always got balcony This time offered inside and full price difference to upgrade to balcony ! Questioned if our play wasn't as much and told "no prices have gone up" Noticed on our last cruise in May price was almost $1000 more then when we had booked by the time we sialed nO bargains there

Did just get a notice for comped cruise (specific cruises ) with free play but all around Thanksgiving and before christmas so not jumping on those.

I have never sailed on NCL yet they sent me an E-Mail for a free Mediteranean Cruise for two on the Epic for any week all summer and early fall. All I paid was about 350.00 in port charges for a Balcony Stateroom and they even gave me 150.00 in SBC and Free Drink Card for the casino.

Quite the deal. I assume it was steered by Caesars Las Vegas where I play and stay. The number to book was through the Casino's at Sea department.

do you have to sign up for cas or does it happen when you sign up for NCl casino. i get comp all the time for biliox so we go at least 4 times a year I have not been on NCL before but the only thing Carnival ever gave me was some free play and a small discount. so if I need to sign up for Cas just let me know. thanks

If you are not already a member of Harrah's Total Rewards program, then you will need to sign up for Casinos At Sea on board the ship. You'll do this in the casino, not at the main ship's desk.
