Room Service Fee Roll-out Schedule

Recommended Posts

I know there's been talk about the fee, but haven't seen a roll-out schedule.

Here it is direct from NCL:

Room Service

• Room service will now have a $7.95 convenience charge

• As Pizza is already part of the new Room Service menu, the Pizza 24/7 program will no longer be offered anywhere on the vessels

• The roll out schedule will be as follows:

o America – Saturday, May 2

o Breakaway – already implemented

o Dawn - Friday, May 1

o Epic Sunday, May 3

o Gem – Saturday, May 2

o Getaway – already implemented

o Jade – Saturday, May 2

o Jewel – Thursday, May 7

o Pearl – Saturday, May 2

o Sky – Friday, May 1

o Spirit – Thursday, May 7

o Star – Monday, May 11

o Sun – Friday, May 8

Thanks for posting. I wonder if the room service pizza will be as good as the $5 anywhere pizza....because the previous room service pizza wasn't good at all.

So pizza is $7.95 ... or what they call pizza anyway.

Why would they do that with the pizza. Not that I ever even tried it but for people who want it like at the bar that stinks. Guess people will have to go to the buffet and take out pizza and bring it to where they want to have it, i.e. a bar, wonder if they will let you.

NCL will soon regret this move. Not many people are going to order room service now. The restaurants and buffets are going to be even more packed then before.

The worst part is when people are feeling ill they are not going to pay for room service for 2 or 3 times a day.

And now family members may not even be able to bring a meal to the cabin for them.

What is NCL thinking UGH

I'm thinking we might be using our comps we got for carnival

Well, I guess NCL must figure that folks will pay, I guess.

I know our next cruise won't be with NCL. We are going to give Carnival a try. I'm really quite excited to try a new line. NCL shoved me over!! ha!

Yes we really are.....It's worth a try. I have read on the casino boards that the casino is good.

Not my experience but give it a try. It may differ between ship's.

I don't understand ? How could they roll out this room service fee so quickly after what was "only a trial" .

Why it's almost if it wasn't a trial at all but really just a set-up for what they intended all along.

I'm thinking that their carpet cleaning budget is going to go way up as many more people are going

to be shlepping back coffee and other food back to their cabins . It's going to be a mess.

I would try the Vista...It makes its debut in May 2016.

The Havana Cabana suites and private pool look really nice. Even the Havana insides look cool.

I am still hopeful NCL will get it together and maybe by the time I go on my June 28th cruise things will be back to normal or better.

IMO the way they went about these changes are a turnoff. I have only sailed with NCL and have been loyal to them and CAS since 2006.

:rolleyes:I didn't see a date for the Pride of America. Am I going to avoid this cost on my May 9th Hawaii cruise??

No, it's just listed as "America" and is listed first - May 2 roll out.

But what if you order the pizza with a beer? Do you only pay for the beer and the 18% gratuity on the beer?

Harriet

I would think it would be two separate charges: $7.95 for the pizza; then the cost of the beer plus 18% of the beer cost. No loopholes for free food.

That's what we were looking at too - the Havana suites.

I never use room service. I would go to the Buffet grab some snacks and bring them back to the cabin while the wife was getting ready. Either morning or before dinner. Now I can't bring a plate to the cabin?

From an optics and value for cost perspective, I'd suggest that NCL could have done much better in pricing and communicating this. It doesn't make me look to the new NCL Management Team with envy at their skill and insight.

I won't be the least bit surprised if they follow up in a month of so with an unlimited room service plan.

IMHO, $7.95 per visit seems very inflated. Assuming this doesn't apply to Haven residents, I'm personally not worried. Otherwise, this would be sufficient to move us to another cruise line. As it is, we're already exploring all-inclusives for our next major vacation.

I see a domino effect coming on.

I have a feeling that, just like airlines and the nickel and dime charges like pillow fees and baggage fees, and if you do a carry on and store in overhead fee, most, if not all the cruise lines will be following this room service charge fee with NCL and charge.

I think NCL is the brain child and others will now follow suite. :(

Luckily I am not married to the NCL brand and butterfly around to different cruise lines.

I look at it as, I am on vacation, I know I order room service once a day, I had better add in my budget $60 (fee + tip) to cover room service for the week. I think that is what NCL is banking on. Am I thrilled, no, but again I currently have no dog in the fight. I have no upcoming NCL cruise. :)

I do feel they are slowly pricing them self's out of my budget for taking, and enjoying a cruise, but time will tell.
