C2 or S1 suite on Celebrity Reflection

We are currently booked in a C2 category (1044) on the Reflection and are debating about upgrading to a SkySuite. Can anybody tell me their thoughts on S1 categories and if you feel it is worth the extra money? Celebrity is offering a lot of perks right now which makes it tempting but we just wanted to hear everyone thoughts. Thanks!

The suites are very nice, as is Luminae. As to whether it is worth the extra money depends on how much extra money and what is important to you.

Is the extra space is important to you?

Are you looking for a higher end dining experience?

Would you use the services of the Butler?

Would you use Michaels Club and the Conceigre?

Would you like/use reserved seating in the Theater on Evening Chic nights?

These are some of the things you are paying the extra money for. If they are things you would use/enjoy then it is probably worth the money.

We enjoy suites but sometimes we could pay for a second cruise with the price difference between Conceigre or Aqua and a suite so we go with a CC or Aqua cabin and enjoy 2 cruises.

Hi Jelayne, your post raised a good question : Would you use the services of the Butler? I guess, never having that experience, besides knowing that they exist and provide an upgraded level of service compared to a standard room attendant. I really don't know what specific services they provide; therefore, I don't know how much money I would be willing to give to benefit of Butler services. In short what does a butler do on a cruise ship? Do you have one per cabin? per group of xx cabins or per floor? Thanks for helping my curiosity.

Yes. As previous posters said, the perks, Luminae and access to Michaels Club are a great perk. So is of course the butler service, priority boarding and extra space in the cabin and much more storage. We like the bathtub and larger bathroom. You also get a free specialty dining dinner on a one week cruise, two on a two week cruise. Some other perks will also be given to you.

It really depends upon your budget and what is important to you.

I think I can answer yes to all of those questions other than the butler bit. The butler is ok but we only use them rarely.

Each butler handles a group of cabins. They can do things like make speciality restaurant dinner reservations, pack and/or unpack for you, escort you to your seats in the theater on EC night, deliver your order from room service setting up your meal on the balcony if you wish (white table cloth), picks up & delivers your laundry or dry cleaning, delivers tea/coffee & finger sandwiches/cookies every afternoon, will set up the cabin should you wish to have a small gathering in the cabin (glasses, napkins, ice, possibly some munches, will insure that any cabin issues are fixed - burned out lights, etc. No doubt there are more things but these come to mind.

Those who booked prior to January 1, 2016 are being grandfathered in, but complimentary specialty restaurant dinners are no longer a perk of Sky or Celebrity suites.

The CS is a very nice room. We actually just "downgraded" when we were able to get tips, premium bev and unlimited Internet as part of an offer. The room is plenty big for 2. If you like a laid back cruise and don't want / need to be part of the bigger crowds then Michaels and Luminae are very nice. But if you want to be in the mix all the time and don't want / need the extra room then I am not sure it is worth the extra $

We live the relaxed vibe of Michaels and the extra space the suite offers, plus the larger balcony.

Thank you all very much for the input! I think we have decided on the SkySuite. We are deciding between room 2158 and 2160. I looked on the cabin sticky and I see that cabin 2158's bed is by the bath, does that mean that the bed in 2160 is by the balcony?

We are booked our suite before 1/1/16 but I don't remember seeing the speciality dining perk and how do you confirm that you get it? I guess I am wondering if Celebrity would "let you know" versus you needing to know or having something that shows it should be included?

Thanks in advance!

I would consider an S2 at the aft corner; great views!!!!!!

I had an S1 corner on a couple of solstice class ships, they are the corners. only problem is full sun early so unless you do not mind, not comfortable for having breakfast ouside. Also soot on balcony so butler would have to clean daily. Also do not leave anything on balcony as it might get very sooty. We had a side port hole window which was also nice but a cleaning ladder obstructed the view. We now prefer midship locations.

We didn't mind the long walk as the excercise was appreciated.

Enjoy

I am sure they will not "let you know". Because they never did previously either. You can confirm in Michael's Club on board or call Celebrity. I have never had an issue in the last.

Except I do not believe there are any S2s on the corner Aft on the Reflection. They should be S1s. We agree that they are great.

I wish someone from Miami would tell the TAs over here. I'm just watching a live weekly cruse programme and they are advertising a Celebrity cruise on Eclipse in a Sky Suite, which (apparently) includes the 2 free speciality restaurants . Not checked to see if it's stating the same on the X UK website. No wonder pax get confused!

I don't think it really matters in the sky suite as it's a big open room. It's our cabin of choice always, the S1 on the aft corners.

We don't take too much advantage of the butler, although we do make special type requests for our afternoon tea time that he brings. Instead of the sweets and little sandwiches, we prefer cheese, veggie tray and hummus, crackers, shrimp, dried fruit, an apple to slice, lots of raspberries and other fresh berries. We ask him to alternate those things every day.

We don't do the escorts to the theatre for reserved seating, although if we're attending the show we will sit in that reserved suite section which is top level center balcony.

We absolutely love Michael's Club and you can get all kinds of wonderful private tours, eat at the captain's table, etc. and free drinks all day long. We also love Luminae, which in my opinion, is the best perk of the suite besides the extra space in the room. The Michael's Club concierge, at least from our experience on Eclipse, is a gem. I felt like we were friends after the two week cruise was over.

We never have had soot on the balcony, except maybe a couple little pieces which could have been something else. A tissue got rid of it. I certainly wouldn't call the butler of the cabin steward to come wipe up a spot!

You'll get them.

This is what you do. Wait until about two weeks out and the Michael's Club concierge will email or call you. Let them know what you want, and make sure to remind them that you booked before the free dinner deal expired. We have that same thing as well and in March 2017 we'll be confirming our two dinners as well. They'll sort it out. If it doesn't happen before the cruise, just pop in there on the first day and they'll sort it out there.

We had all kinds of little things we asked them (the Michael's Club concierge) to make sure happened, none of them urgent, but things we usually ask: extra hangers in the closet, nothing in the cabin cooler (it's not really a refrigerator), not to bring in items to buy like big water and that basket of candy and nuts they try and tempt you with, and always an extra set of bath towels. All were done the moment we walked into our cabin. I also asked if I could have a small bowl of raspberries every other day in the cooler. Not earth-shaking things.

I think one of the things to think about is: Are you in a position to sail suites going forward if you like the cabin?

From personal experience, having bumped up to a Sky Suite on Reflection "just to try it" I have found myself stuck for no other reason than the extra space and storage was just amazing for me. So much so I am not willing to go back to a regular sized Balcony cabin (even my beloved AQ). And yes, I am taking 1 less cruise a year as a result (to even out the price difference).

Full disclosure: I am one of those passengers who spends equal time out and about the ship and ports as I do simply relaxing in my cabin or on my balcony reading, so that extra space and "more open" feeling to the cabin was a wow for me the instant I walked through the door.

Last time we cruised on the Reflection we had a RS, this time we are "downgrading" ourselves to two Sky Suites. Our children are older and this way everyone gets a bed, unlimited internet, beverage package and a bathroom. Did I say that we are saving lots of $$$$?

After reading this thread I think we made a good decision, although I'm going to miss the bed and the walking closet. :)

If your booking was before 1.1.16 then you still get the free speciality meals. If after they are gone.

Not sure that this goes down to sky suites. We are on the Eclipse in an S1 on Sunday and have heard nothing from shoeside concierge. Not too bothered about it. We know what we are going to.

Pm\n Silhouette after that in a CS, will be interested to see how they contact me as we will be on the Eclipse.
