  1. Then talk to the insurance companies about it, and get back to us.
  2. Like Heidi 13, DH spent some years sailing the Atlantic in winter and certainly remembers a fair amount of rough seas.
  3. I wonder how long they'll keep that now that the reality show has been sent to the minor league team.
  4. That's too bad. I looked on their website, and they do mention valet parking, but also say that accessible parking is available (I assume that's handicap parking spots.) I didn't see any mention of bell services. However I also looked at the Doubletree website, and they don't have valet parking either.
  5. Have you checked out the Florida Departures board? https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/386-florida-departures/
  6. US sailings will usually not have kettles available. If you bring one with you it will be confiscated .
  7. I'm confused. Are you talking about a cruise down the Nile on a river boat (like the ones from Luxor to Aswan), or a ship excursion doing a local tour in Cairo?
  8. After decades of international land travel, cruising is a breeze, and is usually when I pack heavier. Have never had a checked bag lost, only delayed by a day or 2. Not a problem since we fly in a few days early. We have free checked bags, but also bring a carry on with all documents, meds, electronics (and accessories), and a change of clothes.
  9. And not to forget that a passport is required for cruises stopping in Canada too.
  10. I believe there were some forced disembarkations at the beginning if the restart. But that changed to quarantine on board for the required period and cancellation of a subsequent B2B leg. Now I don't think they even cancel the B2Bs.
  11. You are asking on the wrong forum. This is the Celebrity forum, you want the HAL forum here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/103-holland-america-line/
  12. As much as I enjoyed the original TV show, I think it's time for marketing to retire this. Especially since the new show may have harmed more than it helped in attracting their new target demographics. I still like the themed ship horn. Someone compared Princess with Disney on their reliance on nostalgia. But the big difference is that Disney has also kept things fresh, adding new features and character meets to stay up to date. Princess not so much. We won't talk about Medallion (not a total fail, but nothing to brag about either). The only thing Disney won't talk about is Bruno.
  13. Much ado about nothing. Whether frozen or fresh, if you cook something long enough, those beans are going to be olive green, mushy and tasteless. Not something I would leave a cruise line over. YMMV.
  14. Um, the drink that the OP would give to his wife that should have been paid for. What the OP wants to do is like going to a buffet restaurant, paying for one person, then sharing everything with a second person. No Bueno.
  15. Since this is cruise line specific, try asking on the Celebrity board: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/16-celebrity-cruises/
  16. From this I'm going to guess you have no working knowledge of how ships kitchens operate. In fact, I would wager you don't know much about how your own kitchen works. Ask your wife to give you the full, complete, guaranteed menus for every meal for the next 10 days. But be prepared to duck and run.
  17. You think someone going to openly admit to committing theft?
  18. It looks like stealing via abuse of the drinks package has supplanted the old rum runners. It seems like OP has no ethical qualms about theft, since he's only asking about what happens when he gets caught. Perhaps he would think twice once he knows he could (at best) have the drink package cancelled without refund or (at worst) be kicked off the ship at the next port and be banned from future cruises. Just pay for her drinks.
  19. I would say that the cruise world is moving along with the rest of the world in becoming more tech involved. And most of the general population is more accustomed to its use than many of the more senior sector of cruisers. It's pretty much a given that seniors and the super elite cruisers are no longer the target demographic for most (especially the mass market) lines. They want to attract a newer, younger customer base who (they hope) will continue cruising for the extra several decades. Their tech has to at least come close to what those new pax want. I don't have to like it. But if that's what it takes, I will use it the minimum amount possible. I still don't trust it though, and print out any necessary documents before boarding.
  20. I forced myself to sit through the entire episode tonight, because I just couldn't do it the first 2 nights past the first commercial. It does not get any better. No great views of either the ship (except the pool area) or Rome. And you know how they use targeted advertising on TV shows? One of the first commercials was about STD prevention. I'll just leave it at that. Cheap, superficial, shallow, calculating. I wouldn't be in the least upset if this was canceled and an old rerun series was put in its place. At least the Amazing Races shows something more than fleeting glimpses of the places they actually go to.
  21. I think it's gross too. And tasteless, cheesy, and highly unsanitary. And there is no way I'm eating anything that has been paraded, unprotected, past hundreds of dirty, microbe laden napkins flailing about
  22. Here's a link to the Oceania board: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/29-oceania-cruises/
