  1. I was wondering about this myself. We are on the crossing and it just looks strange that all nights were casual.

  3. Does anybody know when this is going to happen? I know the press release said summer but I was wondering if anyone knew anything more specific.
  4. Hey Dwight, I just wanted to chime in and thank you for keeping this blog up. The first leg was so wonderful and I am missing everybody terribly. So your updates make me feel like I'm still there in spirit. Thanks again for your kind words. Jim
  5. Hi Dwight, Crystal is indeed listening. A new sound team of Engineers came on in Puerto Vallarta and spent all day yesterday making adjustments both in the Avenue and in the Galaxy. Also Neal has only been with Crystal for a few days now and is finding his way as to what the guests want. I think he is going to be a perfect fit. And always happy to see your smiling face on board. Jim
  6. Look I just found I could take the bus from my corner right to the dining room.
  7. Enjoy every minute. Wish we were with you both but we leave a week from today for the first leg of the world cruise. Jim
  8. Thank you Keith and Beav for the shout out and kind words. I've been privileged to be a speaker on Crystal for many many years now but I always try to do something new. For this upcoming season I have prepared six new lectures about the history of Hollywood and Broadway, filled with lots of film clips and interviews with the people who were there. I really can't wait to start presenting them in January on the first leg of the world cruise. If anyone else is on that leg please be sure to come and say hello. So happy that Crystal is back and we're all a part of it. Jim
  9. Home run for Crystal. Vicki is terrific in every way.
  10. Steve caught this sunrise on the North Atlantic during a bumpy crossing two weeks ago. https://photos.app.goo.gl/o9kYWq2HpzEs1y6XA

    Osteria

Our first visit to Osteria was not terribly successful. I was hoping to see at least a remnant of the old Prego which I really loved, but it was all new. I picked out what I thought I would like and even though it was excellent, I left feeling a bit disappointed. Our second visit was totally different. Mario said we should tell our waiter what we liked and didn't like and put the rest in his hands. That's exactly what we did and it was an outstanding experience. The food was off the charts (along with the service and the wine) and it became one of our two favorite restaurants on the ship. The other discovery was Tastes which one mouth-watering dish after another served in an enchanting "candleit" atmosphere at night. Going back to the Serenity for the first leg of the world cruise and looking forward to a return visit. Jim
  12. I just finished the crossing on the new Nova. Every time we went to a restaurant, including the buffet, we were asked for our suite number. Anyone know why they ask every time?
  13. Sure hope th lights will stick around until Friday.
  14. Leaving Thursday night for Reykjavik to join the Serenity on Friday with a B2B that will take us through Canada and home to NYC. Couldn’t be more excited. Jim
  15. I hope that includes a dinner with you and Monica.
  16. Thanks, Keith, for all You do above and beyond the Call of Duty, I am so happy that other people appreciate bill Miller. I think he's one of the greatest speakers, Crystal or any other cruise lines. Bill is also one of my closest friends and I'm happy to report that he and I leave on the same plane for Reykjavik to join the Serenity on September 8th. We will both be doing back-to-back cruises. The first to Quebec City and the second to my hometown of New York. I always appreciate it when Crystal can drive us home. I prepared four brand new lectures for the brand new Crystal and cannot wait to get on board, see a lot of old friends and deliver them. They are called "Hooray for Hollywood." But it's more about Hooray for Crystal. Jim

    Quebec City

What Emdee said. Historic Hotel high a cliff that overlooks where the ship is docked.
  18. As Keith says, the Manhattan Cruise Terminal is where the ship will be. This terminal extends from 46 street to 50th street on 12th Avenue, rght in the middle of the city. We love coming to New York as we will on September 27th as we live 6 blocks away. Always watch the ships coming in and out. The ship could be birthed at pier 90 or pier 88 ( Where my grandfather worked as a dock supervisor.) If you want to know what street you're on, just subtract 40 from the pier number and that will be it So pier 88 is at 48th street and so forth. Enjoy New York.
  19. I'm on that leg too and think it will be extra special. Really looking forward to it.
  20. Had lunch on board the Regent Navigator when all of a sudden I heard, "Sir, Jim! Sir, Jim!" I turned and there was Sonny! One of the greatest of all the great Lido guys!
  21. Just signed on to do the first leg of the WC. Couldn't be more thrilled to be back on Crystal with so many dear friends.

    oops

Steve and I were on the Harmony when in May of 1996, we went up the Columbia and Willamette rivers and docked in Portland. It was the biggest story on the news that day. We had helicopters flying overhead followed us all the way out to the ocean. So yes it has been done, cause we did it! Reidulf at the helm.
