We came back to Texas via Missouri, staying in Branson and Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  All and all a pleasant getaway.

We visited Eureka Springs several times... geez, it's been 15 years ago!? It was a really interesting little tourist trap type of town. We enjoyed the Passion Play and walking all of the shops. Hope they have weathered the pandemic okay....

  2. Good morning, and thanks for the Daily!

It's good to see @JazzyV feeling better and hoping for a positive outcome to your doc visit.

Also glad to see Roy posting and recovering.

It is always sad to read of people dealing with fraud and being reminded how ugly the world can get.

  3. Good afternoon, and thanks for the Daily!

Our thanks go out today for all who have served their country. We pray for all those suffering and cheer for those recovering.

It seems we were inadvertently added to the anniversary celebratory list. We appreciate the thought, and admire those who have seen the years go by so quickly, but we don't belong in that class...yet. The fact that she still has her hair is proof that Lori hasn't put up with me for that long. 😇

    Have a great afternoon!

  4. Good morning. Thanks Rich, for the Daily seeds that start the fun and conversation growing. And for the Garden Song. Somehow I expect it'll be going through my head now when we're out today planting what we picked up yesterday at the nursery. If Mama Nature allows it... just heard a rumble of thunder...

Our prayers for all who are needful, especially Roy this morning. He was on our mind yesterday, so we popped by Panera for some flatbread pizza and went to the park for some al fresco dining.

    This one's for you, Roy!

Our thoughts and prayers for all with a need and cheers for those with a cause. Have a great Friday, everyone!

  5. Good morning, thanks for the Daily!

@JazzyV Hope you are feeling better soon.

@rafinmd Roy, our prayers will also be with you tomorrow, and we look forward to you being back with us soon.

@kazu Thank you for temporarily shepherding our cares and  celebrations while Roy is slightly distracted 🙂

Our thanks to all for sharing memories of today's port. We haven't been, but would like to do another CA/NE cruise that gives us the chance to visit.

Our prayers for all with a need and cheers to all with a cause. Have a great Thursday!

  6. Good evening. Thanks for the Daily.

@garlictown Our prayers for peace be with you tonight and tomorrow.

@Seasick Sailor We too are sorry for your losses.

We are praying for the best outcome for @NextOne and her husband.

And we will be with you as you come to your day, Roy.

When so much of community has been taken from us over the past year, it is heartwarming to have seen this one adapt and flourish. Keep up the good work! 🙂

May everyone stay safe and healthy, and have a great evening!

  7. Good morning, and thanks for the Daily!

Our thoughts this morning are on treatments, and procedures, and surgeries and our prayers are for successful outcomes for all. We should always praise volunteers.

Yesterday evening people were out in our neighborhood exercising, enjoying the 70F + temperatures, getting walked by their dogs, etc. This morning they were out in their coats sweeping the snow off of their cars and trying to understand the 40 degree drop in 12 hours. Isn't that illegal after we spring forward?

Hope everyone stays safe and healthy and have a great day!

  8. Good afternoon, and thanks for the Daily!

Just got back from getting the second jab, now we are both fully stuck! As soon as DD and her hubs have gotten theirs we might get a hug from the grandkids. About time!

@St. Louis Sal Best wishes for the best outcome!

We flew into Fairbanks in 2016 for a cruise tour. We spent a couple of nights at the Westmark, where they had a flower wagon set up on the corner of 8th and Noble.

    A.thumb.JPG.c1be750d4e0287761bdfe0d38a4a9429.JPG

As our luck runs, we put in for a courtesy call if the Aurora were to be active. Next morning, some were talking about how beautiful it had been that night, turns out we didn't get the call because the phone system had malfunctioned to some rooms. Oh well. That's still on the bucket list.

We walked around downtown, visiting Golden Heart Plaza along the Chena River and the Unknown First Family memorial.

    B.thumb.JPG.2be40525210540517e3b94c8368da672.JPG

We also did the Riverboat Discovery, and Chena Village on our way to McKinley Chalet and Denali.

One thing's for sure about Alaska....you never know when you'll run across a wild, untamed animal. And if you're lucky, you might even see a moose!

As always, thanks for all of the information, humor and compassion.

Stay safe and healthy, and have a great evening!

Is anyone else having problems staying logged into CC?  That's been going on for me for a week or more.  Such a pain logging in over and over each day.

It seems to come and go here. It will last for a day or two, or three and then stop. We haven't had it happen for a couple of weeks now.

P.S. Cussing at the laptop doesn't seem to help....

@VintageGeo, Thank you for the Pelican Whisperer!  I love seeing pelicans!

Also, thank you for the post about Ronald.  All of us here miss cruising - definitely a first world problem.  The impact on so many of the people we depend on at sea has been catastrophic.  I hope HAL is working hard to get its crews lined up for cruises to start in July.  It will be so exciting when they begin sending ships to Indonesia (and other places) to fetch them!

Thanks. We are sometimes reminded that the inconveniences that we have experienced pale in comparison to what so many have endured. We are so blessed. We also hope that all of the crew members that have taken such good care of us in the past have made it safely through all of this and will soon be able to return to the lives they lived before. Or as close as possible.

I take more pictures of pelicans than is probably allowed in civilized society. 😃 They have become one of my favorite animals.

  11. Good evening, and as always, thanks for the Daily.

The camaraderie and humor shared so freely here always leaves us with the warm and fuzzies and we are grateful. Batdog was hilarious!

So happy to see so many finalizing their vaccinations. Lori had her second two weeks ago, I will get mine Tuesday. It might not be the final answer, but it is an answer, and like so many we are hopeful it means hugs from the grandkids soon.

We visited Puerto Chiapas last year, and as we sailed in that morning, we stumbled across a fella who might identify as the Pelican Whisperer..

    A.thumb.jpg.4126610241f0a21dc52591932b30c617.jpg

As others have said, we walked thru the visitor's area and watched the dancers before returning to the ship.

While ashore we did manage to catch sight of our steward, Ronald, hard at work.

    D.thumb.JPG.25a756b226936a819c53f27aacef353f.JPG

It wasn't unusual for him to be hard at work, it was unusual that he was still long enough to get a decent picture of him. We last corresponded with him a month ago, and he is missing cruising as much as we...if not more. The virus cost him not only his HAL job, but also his garment business at home. He relayed that he now spends his days making a type of cake and selling them at the local market. We look forward to seeing him as well as all the wonderful crew members again.

Our prayers to those with a need and cheers to those with a cause.

Stay safe and healthy, and have a wonderful tomorrow.

  12. Good morning, thanks for the Daily!

Our best wishes for a wonderful birthday, @cruzn single.

Our thanks always to all doctors, especially after this year.

I have heard of this control of which you speak. I Am in Control Day runs concurrent with I Am Fooling Myself Day around here. 😁

Today is to be cooler, but we are getting a break, as the winds have dropped to below 15 mph after gusting to over 60 all day yesterday. They caused some damage, trees and power lines down, and were pushing a couple of wildfires in the area.

Hope everyone stays safe and healthy, and have a great day!

  14. Good evening, and thanks for the Daily!

It has been a cool gray day here, with the rain (which is needed and appreciated) finally moving out late this morning.

But the weather couldn't dampen our satisfaction in getting Lori's second and my first jab this afternoon! By the first of May it'll all be done and we can make plans to see the family. Maybe even go watch a ball game.

Everyone please stay safe and healthy. We might just whip this yet.

    Have a great evening!

Thank you, Everyone, for the pictures from Livorno trips.

I am a bit down today because a dear friend, 63 years old, passed yesterday.  I’m still in a state of shock.

Also, My Dad and his older brother were both born on St. Joseph’s Day.  I miss them both.

I’ve been lucky enough to visit Florence on land trips and been to the port of Livorno once.  From Livorno, I took a ship sponsored shore excursion to Siena and San Gimignano.  I was speaking with some friends last evening and we were saying how much we love visiting Italy.

Thank you, Dailyites, for brightening my day.

We are sorry for your loss. God's comfort to your friend's family and to you.

  16. At the company where I spent 20+ of my best years we had a nurse, Margaret, called Peg of course, who was mother hen and babysitter. And had been, as she put it, "since Roman times". 😃

She was the epitome of compassion for anyone with a work-related issue, and hell on wheels toward anything she thought you should have been smart enough to avoid, like sports injuries. You know how they say we only hurt the ones we love? There were several hundred at the plant where I worked, and we all felt loved by her at least once, and we all loved her for it.

So much so that when she neared retirement the word went out that her wish had always been to go to Ireland and explore her heritage but she feared she wouldn't be able to afford it. So we passed the hat and people from several divisions and plants in several states responded and we collected several thousand dollars to send her on her dream trip. In the time I was there she was the only person for whom anything like that was done. I can gladly hold her up as an example of how one nurse can touch many lives.

And if she knew I was telling this I know I would once again get that look and hear "Jesus, Mary, and Joseph! Can't turn my back on you for a minute!"

God Bless you, Peg. He certainly Blessed us with you.

  17. Good morning, thanks for the Daily!

May all of the nurses be blessed the way they bless us when we need it most.

Thanks once again for the pictures and memories that you all share of places that you've been. Many of which we'll likely not see, but can experience through your eyes. We do enjoy that so.

Next Tues. Lori receives her second jab at the same time I get my first. By the time my second takes effect and we can work out the travel plans it will have been a year and a half since the last hugs from DD and the grandkids. Seems like a lifetime... we need to fix that!

Our best wishes for those on the care list and our biggest cheers for those celebrating!

Stay safe and healthy, and have a great day!
