  1. Sorry to inform that nothing has been done about it and although as others say it doesn't last long it is very unpleasant ,we noticed it mostly towards the retreat area, it is definitely a sewage type smell🤢
  2. Although the post does not involve us it is fantastic to read and appreciate how members can be such a source of help and information and nice to see the boards been used for the benefit of others 😀😀😀😀😀👍👍👍👍👍
  3. We paid for the upgrade yesterday with NW for the worldie ,similar figures that you quoted , the £200 for cancelation appeared a lot but when you consider how much the cruise cost we too also hope it will be money wasted ,Abeit giving us peace of mind should the worst occur, heaven forbid at this late stage
  4. Our exemption certificates did not stop us been allowed into any ports of call👍
  5. Definitely check the yellow fever requirements', we were among the crowds of people who were not informed before travelling ,we count ourselves extremely lucky to have a marvelous g p practice who managed to e mail an exemption certificate to us fifteen minutes before our cases were due to be offloaded and our complete holiday lost, lots of people did indeed have to return home and then fly on to Tenerife ,some lost the whole holiday with no chance of claiming on insurance . Its a situation we will never forget and in all honesty ruined the first few days of our cruise , still makes us shudder with how we were treated, just like naughty children 😡😡😡
  6. Thanks for all the updated information , I have no problem with staff using the buffet area as long as its not at the expense of fare paying passengers , it was more a question of why as its something we've only noticed in the last few years, in all our cruises we have only eaten in the buffet on an evening a handful of times but feel we will be doing so a little more on this cruise if only for a change 🍴
  7. Numerous people on other boards and social media confirm that this is indeed the case , if there are issues with their dining locations then it needs to be rectified as it is general knowledge that passengers pay to cruise and should not be inconvenienced for the benefit of staff , no matter what grade they are, as we are boarding in January and are onboard for 99 nights I suspect we may well use the evening buffet just for a change as alternative eating options are the most severely limited on Arcadia
  8. Sea days are very objective, however we don't mind a few if the weather is decent and we can sit out ,however having completed some seven and eight sea days on the bounce ,usually returning to the uk, we are more than happy to get off the ship.
  9. We visited Catalina island on our first ever Caribbean cruise , they cooked a bbq on the beach and everything had to be brought over from the ship , it was a fabulous day and one we have never had the pleasure of doing since, Unfortunately 😕
  10. We did the 65 night one this year , thought it be quite good value but we ended up missing a few ports , Peru been the biggest loss, and some of the Brazilian ports left a little to be desired , ( not Rio though ) Uruguay was an unexpected pleasure but felt we spent too much time in Chile , think the new 75 night cruise adds some extra Caribbean ports
  11. We have done a number of the 35 night cruises and would also question the amount of sea days ,when looking at other ships they appear to be able to reduce the amount of time spent at sea?
  12. The walking tour in Boston was one of the best trips we've done ,ours lasted nearly five hours but was really informative , we are both able bodied and reasonably fit , but suspect some might struggle with the amount of time spent on your feet. Loved Boston full stop👍
  13. Thanks for a very concise review, interesting about the upper level sunbeds as its usually where we sit to avoid the "scrum "around the pool, Agree with Selbourne about the reason for missing Lanzarote ( not needing a bus) ,interesting also that some of his relatives found most of it closed on a Sunday as its a year round holiday destination ?
  14. We have pre booked for our three long cruises to get our choice of cabin and it has worked perfectly on all three occasions, however after seeing prices fluctuate alarmingly towards the sailing dates we would not use the process again if it was for shorter durations , and as we will have completed all the 35,65,and 99 night sailings that P and O offer by next year ,if anything takes our fancy (debatable)we will go for a saver as not sure the select benefits are what they once were , personal choice and opinion of course
  15. Can’t say I blame you for not giving it’s whereabouts, nothing worse than doors been slammed and overly loud conversations and tv next door
  16. Good luck with Aqaba , we are on the world cruise next year and it’s been removed( a regular occurrence apparently) not happy at all about it as it’s a bucket list destination (for Petra ), we’re now going to some ( other people’s words) dump in Egypt
  17. Love hudsons yards and the high line walk , we were ver lucky as it was a beautiful sunny day👍
  18. As your sailing on Aurora it will be like you’ve never been away (personal opinion)
  19. The main difference is that Aurora has far more alternative dining options to choose from, other than that both are grand ladies with lots of style (personal opinion only)
  20. Hoping to make the Arcadia lunch in January 2024 after missing the January 2023 Aurora one due to the farcical yellow fever scenes in Southampton 😡 We had the Baltic/Ligurian lunch on Azura in June and there were TWELVE of us in the MDR!!! It was however a beautiful meal and plentiful amounts of good quality drinks 👍
  21. We opted for the drinks package for the first time ever on our fourteen day Azura cruise and we used it to our advantage because we knew the wines we liked were available in the glasshouse and we had three or four port days ,, interestingly we pre booked and received 10% but did not receive our 10% loyalty discount as well ? We do not drink teas or specialty coffees so our drinks spend was used solely for soft and alcoholic drinks , I would say it appeared as though we were not out of pocket across the whole cruise so would consider it again on a shorter cruise (17 nights or less) but anything longer would be of no benefit to us
  22. It is a real dilemma booking early, we booked the world cruise on the morning it became available , primarily because we wanted our first choice of cabin and dining, and of course chose select fare , never thought for one minute this cruise would ever reduce in price , lo and behold a few months ago the price for the same cabin as us , three doors away dropped by nearly £1,000 pp and with double on board spend than us , our feelings have now changed towards future booking practices although our choices may be diluted by holding back , also beginning to have doubts around booking select fare in future
