Just wondering, does HAL offer the $1 deposit a couple of times per year. I missed out on this. I know they also offer $25 deposits as well. Not sure when they will pop up.

You better pick up some Australian dollars as they won’t accept US or Canadian dollars. Enjoy your cruise… -

Love all of your photos and it helps when the weather is cooperating. We loved visiting Sydney and seeing all of the sites. We really enjoyed taking the ferry to Manly and walking along the beach promenade there. Lots to see and do. Enjoy the rest of your stay there. -
I was on the Edge in 2020 and had an infinite Verandah which I didn’t care for. I would go for a Sunset Verandah to get a true balcony. I did like the 4 MDR’s on the Edge though. If it was me, I would go on the Solstice and get a true balcony at a better price. I do love the S and M class ships. We went on the Millie in 2019 Transpacific and had a fabulous time. Would certainly do it again. You’ll have a great time no matter what you choose.

Have enjoyed following along with you. Thanks for showing your photos of the ports and food. I love the M class ships as I’ve been on Millie and Infinity. Will have to check out the Infinity itineraries for next year in the Med. -

I’m so ready for this. I was wondering when you were going to post. Just got back from my 5 mile walk and it’s sunny and 45F so not bad for my neck of the woods. Have a fabulous trip and I’m looking forward to reading all about your adventures. -
There are lots of shops and restaurants in Kona as you get off of the tender. You may just want to walk around that area. Also there is a small beach right by the tender at the King Kamehameha Hotel where you can swim if you like.

I rolled everything to put in the laundry bag and it held alot…over 30 items I’m sure. They never questioned it.

I found it was very easy getting into the pool as there are gradual steps with a handrail, not ladders like you mentioned. You shouldn’t have a problem.

Totally agree with you. You don’t have to worry about hurricane season as that rarely happens in Hawaii. Love the Hawaiian people and the islands are so different, especially the Big Island. This is my favourite destination.

Is the Blue Chip membership number different than your Captains Club number? I used to get some offers as well during the Pandemic but no more. I’m only Pearl status.

I’m enjoying following along with your adventure. I was in Waikiki in early Dec and had a wonderful visit. Went to Ala Moana a couple of times and ate at California Pizza Kitchen as well. They always have great pizzas. Hawaii is my favourite vacation spot. Been there quite a few times over the years.

infinite veranda, does anyone like these things?
Travelexpert35 replied to sunsetme's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I’m not a fan of the infinite balcony as we had one on the Edge. It was a Caribbean cruise and the room did get hot when you had the window open. Also the chairs are uncomfortable. I do prefer the S and M class ships with true balconies. If these Infinite balconies are so great why didn’t the suites have them as well. -
We have a TD Infinite Visa that covers $2500 per person as well but we always do a top up with TD to cover our insured amounts. I did use TD for a claim under Trip Interruption and it worked very smoothly but then again I didn’t have another separate policy. You would have to check with Manulife to see what they say.

I use my Canadian card as well and just live with the exchange rate. We don’t take much US cash.

First of all I love Hawaii and it’s my favourite place to go. We try to go every year. When I was working I would go to Kauai, Hawaii and Maui to relax and unwind. Now that I’m retired and live in a small town I enjoy travelling to Oahu, especially Waikiki. You don’t require a car and there is more things to see and do everyday. Lots of action going on.

I enjoy doing the webinars for the Power Up Points. I looked back at my notes and have accumulated 125 points so far which isn’t bad. It started in June 2020 and I’ve been doing all of them except those Facebook ones. I haven’t cruised since Feb 2020 so hopefully will be booking something for next year and use my Elite status for some perks.

I’ve done this cruise a couple of times when Maui was included. Celebrity could still add Maui if they went to Kahului which other lines are doing. Also I wish Celebrity would add Kauai to their schedule. It’s so beautiful there. I’ve done land vacations all over Hawaii so that is my first choice but I would still take the cruise you mentioned and certainly add on some extra nights.

Have a wonderful cruise. Thanks for taking us along on your journey.

Celebrity Solstice vs Edge to Hawaii
Travelexpert35 replied to tcbnurse77's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We’ve done this sailing on the Solstice a few times and love the ship. We always enjoyed the anytime dining and you can reserve online for a particular time if you like. Also enjoy the true balconies on the S class ships vs the so called infinite balconies. I was on the Edge in 2020 and did enjoy the ship but not our infinite balconies room. If I did go again, I would have to book a sunset veranda to get a true balcony.
