  1. I get that. So why can’t someone just get chips or cash at the cashier, then cash the chips in or keep the cash? Personally, if I had leftover obc, I’d spend it in one of the shops on board, or drink it! Bought an iPad in the Apple store on Celebrity using obc once.
  2. Couldn’t someone also go to the casino & ask for cash to be charged to their account, then just keep the cash instead of gambling it?
  3. We find that a simple “no thanks” works.
  4. Thanks for the clarification. I had noticed the lack of steps on Enchanted in YouTube videos. Us old fogies prefer the steps; easier on the knees! And now I recall that as a non swimmer, hanging about the steps on Regal/Royal.
  5. Not sure I understand. Which ships have a deeper pool? How deep? Thx!
  6. Are you saying they should bring pumpkins on board and make from scratch?
  7. Ah yes, engineering, where when you ask for the time, they build you a watch.
  8. You don’t have to figure out anything to play slots. Just mindlessly press the button & it gladly takes your $$$$, & once in a while throws you a bone!
  9. Maybe because they feel that based on their personal experience, they’re providing a solution to alleviate the problem going forward.
  10. We like the Royal class ships for the larger, roomier Piazza, Princess Live, the MUCH improved buffet, & the option to book a deluxe balcony that has a love seat, rather than having to sit/lay on the bed if you want to watch TV. The smaller balcony & lack of a promenade deck don’t bother us that much.
  11. On the Star a few years back, we just walked the town & had a bite to eat. Very charming, very small town. Nice relaxing day.
  12. Can the mods change this thread’s name to “The Initials Thread” & make it a sticky?.
  13. Wow, talk about a thread going off topic!
  14. Couldn’t agree with your last sentence more.
  15. Yes, I remember that. Not that I took Zumba classes, lol, but I thought it strange that they chose to start charging for something like Zumba. Bean Counters at work! I remember sailing on P shortly after X reduced activity staff & seeing the photos of the 6 or 8 staff P had on hand.
  16. Interesting replies on this thread. We started cruising on X in 1996, & have over 25 sailings on them, but none since 2017. Lately it’s been pretty much Princess, due to X pricing, their ship within a ship, & the faux balconies on their new ships. If we ever go back to them, it will be on an older ship. I would say each line has +&-. X used to have the best food, but that’s changed in the past 10 years, with food now comparable, although X buffet food & layout is better than P except on P Royal ships. I think Princess std. balcony rooms are inferior, with no place to sit unless you book a deluxe on Royal ships. Princess drink prices are more reasonable, & they have a much larger activities staff. We haven’t sailed Princess since the restart, so I can’t speak to the reported decline post covid. Personally, we now look to Princess before any other line, & will see how things are in November on our third try on the repo from Brooklyn.
  17. Thanks, good to know. We loved the wide open feeling on Regal & Royal & there were always chairs available. How did you like the newly designed Princess Live? It looks much mor comfortable than the previous design.
  18. Certainly looks cramped compared to Royal & Regal Retreat Pools. Doubt we’ll be spending much time there; perhaps on a port day.
  19. It’s a tough decision. The true 14 nighter as opposed to 2 7 nighters is a plus, but we prefer Regal with their deluxe balconies with sofa, instead of a balcony with not even a chair. Regal has a much nicer buffet area, -& her Retreat Pool is awesome. CP does have Explorer Lounge. As I said; tough decision! Can’t offer an opinion on the aft rooms. I would say that overall, we prefer the Royal class ships.
  20. In 2005 our daughter got married in Bermuda while on Celebrity Zenith. The Royal ship that sailed from NY the day before we did went to Canada to avoid a Bermuda storm & had a couple on board that were to be married in Bermuda, but couldn’t because they didn’t have a license for Canada
  21. Just saw that the 5 night Adventure sailing out of Bayonne to Bermuda leaving today is now going to Canada.
  22. Thanks for the heads up. You have to know that there are some here who will ALWAYS find it necessary to say something contrary. If you say it gets dark at night, they’ll surely bring up night conditions near the north pole.
  23. Thanks for bringing us along! We’re boarding June 23. It certainly sounds like the whole Bermuda permit thing is a big pain in the butt, especially if they don’t even check once you’re there. We love Bermuda but this can only be described as a money grab by them.
