  1. Thanks for the info! I most certainly will return and post our experience!! You can count on it...
  2. Well, I'm hoping that the butlers will be back on the Apex by April 13th! After all the times I told my DW that it would be fun *and* we would have a butler...then came the change. (She has never been on a ship with a butler...) Of course, one way or another it will *still* be fun...after all, we be cruising! Can't hardly wait!!
  3. Cruising on the Sun in October (Hawaii to French Polynesia)...first time on any NCL ship. I've seen these type of tours sell out fairly quickly on other lines and was wondering if they were as popular on NCL? Thanks and smooth sailing!
  4. No worries...I totally get that! 😉
  5. Surely you meant to quote someone else...the only port I mentioned (in another post, not the one you've quoted) was in reference to a Key West port...don't know anything about non-existent Antarctica ports... 🙄
  6. LOL...sorry I read this thread...made me nervous...yikes! Good luck to the OP...
  7. Your mom is just awesome!! (and so are you) She's really making a go of it!
  8. Glad to hear the good news on your mom!! Wishing her a speedy recovery! Also glad to follow along on yet another of your semi-Lives.
  9. New to NCL...I've seen (and used) shore excursion sales on other lines and wondered if NCL ever has them. Thanks and Happy Cruising!
  10. Spin it whatever way you wish. I used plain English to describe what bothers me about certain phrases used by, well, just about every business...in this forum, it's cruise lines.
  11. Read my post again. I didn't say they didn't have a valid reason. I said I objected to the spin wording... "To enhance the guest experience," Others are arguing the explanation angle...I'm not...you should have addressed your post to someone who is...
  12. You are so right!! That would drive me into the depths of despair...and take a double dose of blood pressure meds 🥺
  13. This phrase and its variations always puts me in a foul mood. All the cruise lines use it and it is just insulting. Just a couple months ago I got a missive from X informing me that our stop in Key West would be an hour and a half shorter. It started with the same phrase. Somehow, less time in a beautiful port enhances my experience?? Not near as serious as this NCL Antarctica thing, but the mindset is the same. Something that nobody wants is presented as in the best interest of the patron. And I certainly agree...honesty is the best policy.
  14. Off topic: I kinda wonder where you'll be tendering to in Lahaina on Day 16...will anything be rebuilt by then?? We'll be visiting Maui this coming October...and we'll be avoiding the area...we have spent sooo much time there over the last 30 years that we just can't bear to see the area now...not sure if we'll ever recover from the shock...no matter what is built...
  15. Here's a long list of Spring Breaks of colleges in the US...just a few in early April...most done by the end of March... https://www.ststravel.com/college-spring-break-dates Enjoy your cruise!
  16. Thanks very much for this...it just so happens that we are particularly interested in Cagney's and La Cucina...
  17. A 3-meal package came with my October booking but the details are murky (or I just didn't find it...). I am on the Sun and it appears that many of the specialty dining establishments (La Cucina for example) are a la carte rather than a set cover charge. How does the package cover a la carte charges? Some set limit of how much one can order in those places? Something like that? If someone can point me to that kind of detail or can answer from their experience, I would appreciate it. (I know I could call in but I'm reserving that first encounter with NCL support for another day 😁. I've found that the CC knowledge pool is usually my best chance for an accurate answer!) Thanks and Happy Cruising!
  18. Thanks for posting this...it reminded me I needed to sign up for my April cruise!!
  19. I just wouldn't risk it...for whatever reason. Kicking the proverbial can down the road is only netting a rather short and temporary benefit. While losing the cruise has a lasting effect... Besides, I would be wondering if I could rely on the answer from the support person...how many of us have called in and gotten different answers for the same question?? Just my own opinion...
  20. Late to this party!! A belated Happy Birthday to you!! You're doing a great job...loving this review...
  21. You got me...never been on Viking. Truly 80+??? Wow...
  22. Never, ever been on a cruise with any line where 80+ age was a majority...not even close...
  23. Thanks for posting this, Jim! Always good to have heads-up on any changes... Kinda stresses the importance of having travel insurance in place...
  24. Same here! April can't come soon enough!
  25. Duh...I somehow missed 10 and 25...thanks... I should have added that this sentence in the General Terms at also added to my paranoia...lol... https://www.celebritycruises.com/bid-on-cruise-room-upgrade The Upgrade will not be eligible to receive any promotions or benefits that are applicable to the stateroom had it been originally booked at that stateroom category.
