It’s been a thing for a while (although on occasion it will be less costly to choose your own room - chalk that up to strango RCCL IT). Usually the price difference is nominal, although it can be large. Many people take their chances, I would be scared of ending up in a completely obstructed cabin (your risk depends on how many people book the cruise over time and which cabin category you want since booking a GS, for example, would be a safer bet).

if you have deep-seated issues with boomers you might want to find another playground. I am a few years off that huge swath of humanity, but they are a pretty good group of folks and despite suggestions to the contrary they come in every possible variety in their thinking and attitudes 🥳

They should’ve led with this! Instead. when they started their print ads and TV commercial suggested that anyone over 40 should not bother with their cruises - don’t have to tell me twice. Guess that gives VV 19-39 to get some cash out of them 😉

The process was fine (the criteria are still troublesome if you prefer to book your cruises more than a few months prior to sailing). You may already be aware of this, but they won’t combine with most other promos (including all or most from the casino).

You can easily decorate on many ships, those plastic clips on the party packs from Amazon are super easy to put up (I am 5’8”, so YMMV). The cakes that you can buy from Royal gifts are FANTASTIC. You can also buy birthday decorations from Royal, but their design/color options are extremely limited. I could have asked the concierge for help, but honestly I just asked the room attendant for extra glasses and I brought some small cake plates, napkins, and disposable forks with me. I was able to decorate everything quickly by myself.

@ROXIETHEHORSE same happened to us in St. Maarten in April. Also a chase card (and the second time this year that card had to be replaced. It is our travel card , but it is frustrating to have to replace our main cc so often 😵‍💫

Your physician, county health clinic, or other healthcare professional (such as a PA at CVS) should be able to provide you a new one. In most states all vaccines are on a database that healthcare offices can access (in Georgia are vaccine database shows Covid, TDAP, shingles, pneumonia, and others vaccines). They provided me with a duplicate card when I went to CVS to get my second booster bc I left my card in the car.

Same. Just asked our TA to change us to first seating for all 7 booked cruises and we will re-evaluate things again in 2024.

There was another thread recently talking about how bad this company has been recently. It sounds like they might’ve been fine years ago but there’s been real problems with boat problems, etc. 😔 But so glad it worked well for you!

We love it in June, we have had great luck with weather - mostly mid 50’s and 70’s. We live in Georgia where it is fairly warm much of the year, we learned pretty quickly about dressing in layers in Alaska. So wear maybe I sweatshirt over a long-sleeve cotton shirt where you can roll up the sleeves, for example, so you don’t freeze in the morning or get too hot in the afternoon. The poster had asked whether it would be a problem or not to have the spouse’s card in the machine vs their own when they won a hand pay out; I was saying I had not experienced it personally. Others playing with someone else’s card have had various experiences with it that I have read about. I was only pointing out that was an interesting question.

It seems like online people report all kind of things – one person said that they insisted that she get her husband, others say it was mentioned but they paid, others said it was no problem. As we so much with RCL, it seems to be consistently inconsistent.

That is an interesting question! Hmmm not sure. I know some people do play with their spouse’s card, I don’t know what happens during a hand pay. 😫 Of course I have never been lucky enough to have a hand pay so I have no personal experience sadly!

Sometimes if you fit their “analysis “ they will send you free cruises even if you’re not prime. I had that happen when we first started sailing with Royal some years back. I was also surprised! From what I can tell from talking to the casino reps, they’re more likely to do this if you don’t have a lot of cruises already booked!
