  1. Sure prior notice is ideal but they can also change it mid cruise even the day before it is scheduled.
  2. Oh I agree with you on that, but I’m just stating the obvious to folks that expect stellar service when they are not able to provide it.
  3. If the lobster were flown in from Maine, fresh caught, I’d still never sail on CarniMart.
  4. They are short staffed and everyone should have the ability to understand that.
  5. Moving people from their booked cabin to a different one for quarantine/isolation is such a joke and a game of smoke and mirrors. Free cruise my a**!
  6. This question has been asked already oh about a million times maybe, do a search
  7. Even if you have a reservation for specialty dining and you find that they are serving lobster that night, just cancel the reservation, it’s not difficult.
  8. That’s because you are a reasonable person who has chosen to cruise with eyes wide open. I don’t believe for one minute that the constant complainers about not being able to get the exact wine they want or missing a port or service being slower etc were/are not aware of what is going on in the world around us. They chose to delude themselves into thinking it will be different for them. They need to get a grip on reality already.
  9. Seems that China will be keeping the 21 days quarantine in effect through March/April 2023, and I believe that by default this will include HK. My husband had to go through this recently when he had to return to the mainland for a family issue. He said it was awful.
  10. print out the booking confirmation and bring it to the cruise with you
  11. You’ll reach the cruise specific broader audience on that ships roll call
  12. Thank you for this, very good to know. We much prefer private tours, the group tours whether on small vans and especially on tour buses are totally not our thing.
  13. Nice! We will be in Ireland last week of September to first two weeks in October. Though not going back to Dublin, we will be spending most of our time in the west and south west of Ireland. Our driver tells us to overall expect mid to upper 50’s and on occasion low 60’s which is fine for us, especially with the lack of crowds and of course we expect rain, would not be the Emerald Isle without.
  14. Ugh and yuck, I’d be very pissed off too! Sounds like a serious staffing problem to me?!? Hearing this and so many others make me very happy I collected my refundable deposits for two cruises I had scheduled for October and December. I’ll be more than happy with land vacations for the foreseeable future.
  15. I’ll start by saying that I am from Boston. But depending on where in Italy you are, except temps to be mid 50’s to 70ish, this to me is ideal touring weather, just a light spring/fall weight jacket and all of my trips to Italy (4) have been in April/early May or mid-September/early October.
  16. Can these Celebrity private tours be tailored to just include those in your own party/group or do they require a minimum number of people regardless?
  17. You were very clear to me. As others have said you will love Italy/Rome, truly a magical place. I vacillate so much between whether Italy or Ireland are the most beautiful countries I have ever been to, so I have decided that to keep my Irish family happy I will fib to them and tell them it is of course Ireland, wink wink! But seriously I’ve got a few recommendations for a couple of nice, small and very reasonable priced hotels in Italy- Rome (near Coliseum/Forum) and another just steps away from both Trvevi Fountain, Pantheon and the Jewish Quarter, which if you have time I VERY highly recommend the Jewish Quarter walking history food tour. I’ll post a bunch of information on the Italy information forum here. Whatever you decide you will enjoy!!
  18. I’ll be following the report for sure, can’t wait to read about your adventures. For me, this really is one of the feel good CC cruise adventures in a very long time! Who doesn’t love a positive ending especially from a very appreciative person!! Happy sails Aloha_DC.
  19. With all due respect, this horse has really run its last race and time to let him rest in the barn. OP’s fable has changed so rapidly that I have whiplash.
  20. Agree but that is not the norm though but like anywhere in the world there are always the exceptions. Normally that time of year is in mid/upper 70’s.
  21. Somewhat similar but I did fly, spent six weeks in San Diego with a friend, JetBlue coming home, canceled me 3x but I never left her condo as received all very timely comms via text from JB, worked out well but got home two days later than planned. Went to Mexico for two weeks with my son and his GF, zero issues at all on any of the JB flights. Now for Oct 2022, we had a 12 day cruise planned on Oceania, they could not assure me that if we tested positive we would be able to stay in our suite, said it would be whatever the policy was at that time, no thanks! This cruise was in a Vista suite (that now late retirement gift to myself) that was $21K for 2 ppl. (no grats or bev package). We have now booked a 18 day vacation to Ireland, Donegal, Galway, Killarney, Dingle, Kilkenny and Kinsale, flying Aer Lingus bus. class, all hotels and B&B's, and other than the full Irish for breakfast every day, no other meals/bevs are included. That said, we got deals on air and lodging...all in is just under $11K for the two of us for 18 days. This coupled with no worries of quarantine etc was a no brainer. Perhaps in the next year or so the cruise lines/CDC will get its act together, until then, I am sure still traveling but will do so on my terms not theirs.
  22. Agree 100%, which I why I have canceled all of my 2022 cruises, Oct & Dec. As this is not until later 2023, perhaps (hoping) this all may greatly improve with the on-board non-sense/uncertainty. Time will tell hence refundable deposits. But Ireland this year, here I come, no worries about being banished to my room there.
