  1. OV on Summit was always far superior to Windjammer. Know things were cut in January. Hope the cook to order stations are all back. Windjammer selection was always lacking IMO
  2. You need to examine the Pride of America and go to the Fourm for that ship. As for weather, there is a reason other cruiselines skip August. Besides being 32C and lows 27C with humidity at 90% it is the middle of hurricane season.
  3. The plus for Celebrity is non smoking except for a smoking area outside. Buffet has more cook to order stations. Plus for Princess is laundry facilities and minsuites on many ships at appordable rates. Thus decide but we do it now on the itinerary. In 2024 Princess has a more interesting TA. With the destruction of loyalty benefits unless you have many cruises decide on that basis. FWIW on recent Emerald Princess cruise smoking in the casino was a non issue as the casino was so uninviting almost nobody there. Both were dreadfully short staffed so dinner service awful. Shows and speakers good on both but timing difficult on Princess - needed to eat really early or really late.
  4. There is food available from about 6ish till 1am. You won't starve. Room service after that for a few $.
  5. Cannot imagine your cabin steward would take a laptop. Way too easy to see who went in your room and when. Never ever heard of things stolen like that. Personally I just take my phone, but understand some of us have work needs.
  6. Would definitely not call them smoothies. Discussed in several threads. Neither my wife or I liked them. What is your question?
  7. The Flix Bus is easy and leaves from Venice to Ravenna. Not very hard. A Google search. Travel today sounds like it might not be good for you. Have had 9 changes to just airline flights for my upcoming cruise, one hotel sold and closed and numerous other challenges including changes to cruise ports and excursions. Being flexible is a requirement for travel today. PS have used Flix in both US and Europe. Just fine and on time. Cheap too.
  8. Welcome to Cruise Critic. First definitely check out the roll call for your cruise and look in the ports forum. Likely there are private tours already organized that would interest you. My first time to a port I always do a bit of research on the internet about the port.
  9. A quick intro of the officers. That all. Used to do a toast to a safe journey. Oh well.
  10. And any you buy will likely take several working days to appear. OBC from your TA will not appear until after you board.
  11. Just email them at the engagement center. After our last cruise I was assigned a new Captain's Club number. An email and X took care of the problem in a couple weeks.
  12. Let us know what it looks like if you are more than about 250 miles from land so no direct Starlink access. Can you get a speed test on the internet speed for both services? The difference will be interesting. My new Samsung had similar speeds about 30 miles offshore in Cabo. Gotta love TMobile for travel.
  13. I wear a casual sports coat on the plane. Usually wear it if cool with a turtleneck t-shirt or a polo shirt. Always wear sandals (have a foot problem), but socks for dinner.
  14. Hmmmm. I wear either turtleneck t-shirts and a shorts coat or collared polish. Kakhis that are clean. I don't care what others wear unless like the "person" that wore a "F#$%ing 49ers" t-shirt. They let him in and after numerous complaints had him leave to change. Sort of like a local very nice restaurant where for men a collared shirt OR sportscoat is required. If you don't like the rules don't go. If others are totally completely violating the rules - SAY SOMETHING to the crew. Does no good here. And as for luggage - for 28 days of cruising - a TA and an Arctic Norway DW and I have 1 suitcase and a carry-on. Not hard.
  15. Sort of. Cabins will show incorrectly as booked if: on a courtesy hold, in TA group block, part of a private party 5+ room block. Also know some 5% cancell shortly before final payment and about 1% will be no shows for all sorts of reasons
  16. Everyone needs to decide. Sort of like asking if worth it for a suite vs. veranda. For our family - no. Have friends we cruise with that say - yes.
  17. Supply and demand. Really simple. Just like airline fare, seasonal rentals (Arizona November thru March), cripes you need a reservation to get in a lot of National Parks.
  18. A couple thoughts. Concierge has slightly larger staterooms but little other value to me. Would pay a little extra for them. Very little. When we were entering or leaving a port or cruising in an interesting locale we were almost never in our cabin. On deck particularly at the Sunset Bar or the running tract where visibility was far better. September weather is likely to be clearer. A bit of rain to put out forest fires. September is also usually drier from all the time I spent in Sitka. You also will see some color as leaves start changing by September. Last, absolutely positively spend a night or two in Seward. Exit Glacier great. Then shuttle to Anchorage Airport. Take a car rental to at least Denali and back. Spend a couple nights out. Healy and Talkeetna. Much clearer skies as smoke mostly gone and no crowds.
  19. Have your roommate join you. No Elite area for Elite CC members last time in LA/ San Pedro. You pretty much go straight from checkin to the ship. Get your cabin key on board. Very fast. There is no Elite check in line. With the boarding passes on phones almost no lines any longer. You and your roommate do need to checkin together at the assigned time. Hopefully the same. If not use the earliest time and come during your assigned time
  20. On every cruise there are on average a few that cancel in the last couple weeks and one or two no shows. Those you can often book on board at a bargain price. Just need to be lucky.
  21. Until this week there is nothing preventing bringing water and sodas on board in reasonable quantities. I have had to pick up my luggage and wife's diet Tonic in cans at the naughty room. I also was told I could not bring a 6pk of water in plastic bottles on board last year in Iceland. I wanted them as souvenirs Most cruiselines prohibit bringing plastic bottles on board. Is there anything in the new cruise contract?
  22. The three bars above will take you to the main menu. Scroll down as said to Roll Calls Click on your ship Click on your sailing date. Hope you find a tour. Most on my upcoming cruise were booked months ago.
  23. It is supposed to be carried on board, but full cases certainly could be checked at the curb. There was discussion about banning plastic bottles. Do not know the status. A question please, there are water bottle filling stations on board. The water at those stations is distilled water that is UV treated. It taste different to me than either the regular water with slightly different or the bottled water in cans. Why would you bother hauling water in plastic bottles on board?
  24. Suggest you go to ports forums. Or Google each port. Sometimes info is there.
