  1. Your cabin steward will not know you are on a MoveUp bid. The $10 bottle of wine and a few bits of "delectable snacks" in the afternoon isn't much.
  2. No. You also do need to physically visit your muster station. Only takes a few minutes. Have not gone outside to stand by the lifeboats in many years.
  3. Think this translates differently in the US. Here it is Kir or pretty much any liqueur with a fruit flavor etc.
  4. That is because each ship has different wines according to availability. It changes literally each cruise and can chsnge during a cruise. You will have a chardonnay or 2, a sweeter white like a pinot grigio, a cab, merlot and likely a couple others plus a sparkling wine or two.
  5. By about 9:20 we were getting paged to come to guest relations. Agree get off by 9am to let them get ready for the next cruise.
  6. The comparison here is of the non alcoholic packages. Not the Classic vs. Premium alcoholic beverage packages
  7. Wish you lots of luck. You might well need it because things have changed in all forms of travel from motels to airlines to cruising. New normal? Balderdash. To be happy on board a ship, airplane or in an accommodation we will be flexible and if things seem not right we will see if they can be made better.
  8. Will note when we did an overnight in Bermuda there were a group of local VIPs on board. They wore the national dress of Bermuda- Bermuda Shorts. They were allowed in theMDR for dinner. Lowly me in a leg cast was forced to wear a large towel to be seated. Was sort of funny.
  9. How many threads/comments have there been about having issues with the Celebrity app? Dozens? A hundred? More?
  10. Would suggest you move on. I do not care whether you are a "big tipper" or remove all gratuities. I spend several months each year outside North America and always attempt to determine the local custom. Then follow that practice. There have been a couple times when I received terrible service and left one dime as a gratuity to make a point. I have also generously (for me) rewarded those that went the extra mile with service or effort. When my Aussie friends visit the US an explanation of the system in the US is provided to them. Some then tip for good service and some don't. When too many don't tongues wag and those from that country get lumped together and sometimes unfairly (or fairly) treated poorly. Hmmm. When in the UK I leave the change and if service is exceptional an additional amount.
  11. As jelayne said simply go directly to the MDR and tell them what you need. Have always been accommodated if I asked soon after boarding.
  12. The Automat was invented years ago. Robots work well well for tasks that are repeated again and again. Not well for tasks requiring personalized thought.
  13. How many things do you NEED plugged in at the same time? The bathroom outlet works fine for my toothbrush, shaver and Waterpark. A couple hours and they are good for a week. A couple phones and a laptop and or tablet - again do you plug these in 24/7? Our phones last on average 1 1/2 days at home. My grandkids - 18,19, 22 did just fine with 2 outlets.
  14. In the laundry on cruiselines they certainly can and do. There is no longer any testing except on certain routes and destinations such as Australia, TA, Colombia for b2b cruisers.
  15. Suggest you visit the Alaska forum where your questions are answered. There are several options for pre cruise tours in Alaska. Your itinerary should be details such as transfers and the other questions you are asking.
  16. Drakes - DW and I traveled last year from April to October. Saw few masks and never wore one. Cruised over the holidays LA to FLL on a packed Princess ship. Home then on January 2nd. 3 weeks later DW who is asthmatic felt "off" and tested positive. Used her nebulizer and inhalers and felt OK (not great) in a week. Tested negative after 8 days. Thus we traveled the World for 6 months. No masks. Only avoiding people who looked ill or were hacking. Got home and somewhere got covid. And yes we are fully vaccinated. Mixed and mingled. Staying to ourselves on our TA. No thank you. Meeting people is one of the reasons to cruise. See you on board in April.
  17. We also bring an extra 2 week supply of prescription meds and prescription meds for infections, pain etc. For colds/flu simply bring allergy meds to dry sinuses. Have found cough syrup available everywhere at reasonable prices. As said do not take Rx meds on shore. My paracetamol and codeine is illegal in many countries and over the counter in others.
  18. The town certainly have enough tourists that drive to town and often eat and sleep in town. Don't think the locals really care is cruise ships leave. If the overnight in San Francisco is gone, so are we. That being our main reason for a Pacific Coast cruise.
  19. Easier to let the porter tag them at the pier.
  20. The real money today is in those 50+ that can take 4 weeks off a year or retired people. Look at the huge number of cruises on HAL that are 4 weeks or more. How many younger people have the time (or money) to do that.
  21. Taxis have been as little as $35 and as much as $70. Totally dependent on traffic. Sunday morning is 70mph the whole ride. Weekday mornings often stopped. Also use Lyft and they give a choice of waiting a few minutes for a lower rate. With Uber or Lyft you can lock in a rate by setting a time ahead on the app. Jim/Iian correct pricing often crazy.
  22. You clearly AS OF TODAY need to test for your TA. Does the test need to be proctored or simply a picture of a self test? We do not know as of today. Unclear. FWIW we can pick up free tests at local libraries.
  23. You want zero proof package. The mobile and regular websites are often different. This has been discussed many times.
  24. Suggest the ports forum will already have your answer. Do not remember how often Ferry runs. If answer not there then go to the Aquarium website and contact them
  25. You can carry alcohol on an airplane but only in 50ml mini bottles. Can of carbonated beverages often blow up. Back to the OP - Simply keep your wine or sodas with you for checkin and drop off at your cabin.
