  1. Absolutely. We have 5 European cruises. Each has given us a teeny tiny taste of several ports. We then have made fairly long trips to visit countries in depth. Spent 9 weeks in Germany and Austria and only saw part. We love to cruise as it is relaxing and lets us see several cities. An easy way to see Europe is to spend a couple weeks in your departure port area and the same where your cruise departs. Driving in Europe is easy if you are comfortable with that. It makes NO DIFFERENCE where you visit first. For us it has meant about a month in Spring or Fall - cooler, less crowded and far less expensive - for each major country or area. 6 trips so far and have seen maybe 1/3 of Europe.
  2. We did an Iceland visit on Summit. The curtain are black out. . . but just like all curtain leak light at the top, bottom and where the curtains join. A couple clothes pins will remedy where they join. Almost anything pretty in the bottom corners most of the light from the bottom and sides. Nothingvyou can donabout the top. We were quite pleased with the limited light remaining. You might find it great, just ok or not acceptable. Many on board wore masks.
  3. Some love them, some dislike them and most have said nothing. The reality is the older one becomes the less they like change. We think the infinite veranda is OK, but prefer the regular balcony. Again we prefer Millenium etc to the larger ships.
  4. With a group - really simple - won't work.
  5. Note. Colombia has required a negative test for unvaccinated for over a year. Sad Princess just figured this out as Emerald Princess departs LA with a stop in Colombia in THREE DAYS.
  6. It totally varies by cruise line. The rule will be buried somewhere on the complete cruise contract of passage. Cruise contracts vary for UK passengers and any service not rendered must be refunded. I agree with you if a tax or fee is charged for a service that is not rendered it should be refunded. Am guessing the NCL contract differs. Have missed ports on Celebrity and gotten refunds about half the time.
  7. I use a highly technical and expensive method to get my bags to my cabin. A piece of duck tape with my cabin number written in sharpie marker stuck to my bag. Won't tear off.
  8. What do of the week? Sunday is probably. Weekdays not likely. Saturday maybe.
  9. If you are on a tour and self disembark you will simply end up waiting outside the terminal for the rest of your participants to arrive.
  10. Respectfully disagree. Do think any food comparison for quality, ambiance and service needs to be today as things are often changing. The number of crew and passengers will vary greatly. Too few crew and too many passengers makes for a challenging cruise. It is also impossible to predict.
  11. For me it is a guaranteed way to get to the ship on those few times when I fly on the day my cruise departs. Nothing more. In LA an extra few dollars (under $30) is worth having no stress. When added to Princess Air, if my 1 hour flight is cancelled there are others that would get me to LA by 2pm. If I have flight and transfer I still get on the ship.
  12. The OP and probably millions of others should attend the funeral service for Custo Mer Service. Custo passed away a few years ago and was replaced with a dozen Gen X trainees who lack training, authority and almost always common sense.
  13. If you have what sounds like a basically free cabin and $1100AUD in freeway; why are you worrying about a $200 deposit whether AUD or USD?
  14. Is your TSA number is entered correctly your name populates. Your reasoning is interesting, but a simple stop with a customer service agent could have fixed your problem. I agree with PacnGoNow that even if you are TSA approved you are not guaranteed expedited security treatment.
  15. Read the offer. The whole offer. Quite clear. You can upgrade for 1 day or more. $10USD per day.
  16. Impossible to answer as the day of the week changes traffic. Monday and Friday the worst. Also any day before or after a holiday weekend. The good news of using points is you likely get moved if you cannot make the flight or your points back. 3:15pm. You should be good, but walk off early.
  17. Hospitalizations in Arizona are at 100% of capacity in several local hospitals. Flu is rampant this year after reduced interpersonal contacts reduced flu numbers to almost zero in 2020/2021. Lots of RSV in children as well. Combine a couple viruses and you have a problem. A big one here.
  18. I tried twice to enter data some 6 months ago. Called Princess and they entered everything for me. In the Green lane. Have an email with the code.
  19. Two possibilities. They are sold out or trying to get new vendors to provide tours. 2024! Wow. Celebrity is still adding tours on our January 2023 cruise.
  20. There were some half dozen vodkas on our summer cruise on Summit.
  21. Really? The OP had two regular and a custom medallion. The combo made it necessary to pick up the custom one at thr pier. You don't seem to understand the change. People on our cruise in 10 days are receiving their medallions at home. We will get ours at the pier as far easier and less stress.
  22. Most of the vendors are new. Call the Chamer of Commerce or the Visitors Bureau. Skagway has limited services and vendors. Agree it is a longshot
  23. We call it dash and go. In August our cards were in the holder on the door. Dropped off our stuff. Washed our hands and left to have lunch. Once the cards were not there. Was faster to find our room attendant as line at customer service was very long.
  24. Agree. The tradeoff is booking exactly what and when you want to eat vs a discount. Personally I would not want to eat every night in a specialty restaurant. We enjoy eating in a regular dining venue with friends - both old and new - as well.
