  1. I am doing this, only the other way around (east Caribbean then west Caribbean). I will be interested to see if they let you stay on the ship or if you have to get off and go back through the check in process. My TA thought they put me in the same room both cruises but did not (across the hall) so I know I have to completely depart the room, but wonder if I'll have to get off, go through customs, just to get back in line to get back on. Really hoping to get to see Choir of Man. Maybe twice! I want to know what shore excursions you have booked. HAVE FUN!!
  2. It varies by airline if they will allow seat choices, upgrades, etc.
  3. I did. Necessity though and I was so worried the whole time. Discovered that I had neglected to pack a comb or brush. Didn't think I could go 11 days without one, so I spent $40 on a taxi to/from Walgreens. Not the one right at the Old San Juan pier but not that far away. I did check in at the Epic salon but they said they didn't have any combs or brushes for sale.
  4. Based off the FCC I was given when the Pearl was turned back around and cruise canceled (Jan 2022), that term "discount off" means that all of the FCC must be used on a single cruise or any remainder is forfeited. Completely not what FCC is under their Q&A about FCC, but they pulled out this "discount" term to explain why I had forfeited $1000 of cruise credit when I booked a replacement cruise (I was already in Miami since my flight didn't leave for anther 10 days) that didn't cost as much as the original Pearl one. Just a tip to use it all at one place!
  5. . . .when you have a nightmare that you forgot your passport. Or your luggage. Or you missed your flight time. Good thing I take lots of naps while cruising! I pack the week before and it stays packed until I pull it out and wash clothes before the next cruise.
  6. I called my TA this morning and they put me on hold to call NCL. She came back and said the price had dropped and NCL will email her later with the FCC amount. I'm not sure it is going to be a lot but I'll take it esp. since I booked the cruise expecting the price to drop quite a bit and it did not.
  7. Happy about this as I got completely spoiled when I booked a balcony in Jan 2022 to avoid masking on the lido (which by the time I cruise they had clarified to except while on the lido but the damage was done, LOL).I will happily take a $200-$300 price break!
  8. You can even get assigned and get your room changed later if someone selects the room you had been assigned. Fortunately, it was an advantage for me because my late reassignment was an angled balcony!
  9. I liked the Epic but I'm a solo traveler. Most people's complaints center around the shower not being in a separate bathroom (only the toilet is) but that was a non-issue for me. I've seen people say that there is a curtain that you can pull across if you don't want your cabin mate to see you getting in/out of the shower. I was able to find a chair on the H2O deck daily with no problems. I'm trying out the Escape for the first time this winter so I can't offer a comparison yet.
  10. I get so many raised eyebrows when people say, "So, who are you cruising with?" and I answer, "No one." But the whole point of vacating is to not have any demands on me- no tasks to do at work, no social obligations, no animals needing to be fed. Just read, sleep, soak in the sun and eat whenever my stomach starts growling. If I want to do something, that's what I do. I don't have to see if my travelling companion wants to do it too or go with them on something they want to do but I don't. Having to sit at a table with 8 strangers and pick and choose topics of conversation so that you don't offend someone is work not relaxing! But we can sit across from one another and read our books while we eat! LOL
  11. My whole point of cruising Norwegian is so I can sit alone at a table. . .
  12. I'm working on my 100 for a cruise in January and was wondering the same thing. Since spring is the busiest season, perhaps it is looking like a better risk and will go back down as we get into late summer/fall?
  13. I had naan for lunch every day on my 16-day Panama Canal cruise in January. Vegetable Kormu is my favorite Indian dish and I don't even always find it at Indian restaurants but they cauliflower Kormu one day. Now I'm craving Indian. . . .
  14. Now that is some good information! Notes for my back-to-back E and W Caribbean cruises on the Escape this winter.
  15. I think businesses do this when they give you something free so that you know the full cost of how generous they are being. For example, if my company allows someone in a related field to use our building, we might in the spirit of camaraderie let them use it for free, but we're going to send them the invoice so they know how nice we are, LOL.
  16. Do you have one year from the sail date to complete the cruise with FCC? I usually sail approximately the same two weeks every years so I was wondering if I got FCC from my current cruise, could I use it on my usual cruise the next year or if it would expire before then.
  17. About them not giving you your checked bags, I think that is normal, I assume for security reasons. I had a similar issue and was stuck in Dallas for 3 days. I paid full fare personally. My bags actually made it home before I did because they went on a flight that was full (as far as passengers). I had to fly into an airport 2 hours away and collect my bags at my originating airport on my way home. Now I put much more in my carry on! I stayed in my hotel room in Dallas because all I had was the clothes I was wearing, my PJs from the last night of the cruise and a small amount of make-up/toothbrush.
  18. Naan is my favorite. I ate it every day on my last cruise.
  19. Thanks! I Googled it but heard a few different versions. I knew it was Gaelic.
  20. My question has nothing to do with cruising: How do you pronounce Ceilidh? Kee Lee, Kale Ee? Keal Ee?
  21. I was on a 15 day cruise on the Joy and the MDR menu had different options (some the same) every night.
  22. I enjoyed St. Lucia when the Epic stopped there in January 2020. I did the Historical Island Tour. I enjoyed the LaToc Battery and the governor's residence--it was the perfect spot to catch the breeze sitting on the balcony. Beautiful sites. My favorite picture of the Epic there. I ended up back in St. Lucia in 2021. No cruises but I still wanted some sun and sand. Not many excursions were available in the middle of a pandemic but we did get enough people from the resort together to book the aerial tram. Our tour guide was Shabee from Love Love Love Tours and he was so much fun--one of the most interesting people you'll ever meet. We drove all over St. Lucia on the way to the tram--because we went to the wrong site first (Shabee thought we wanted to zipline)--and stopped by friends who had cacao trees and had some fresh cacao beans. Yes, some hills but that could describe several Caribbean islands. https://www.facebook.com/LoveLoveLoveTours/ So everyone experiences it differently.
  23. The day I did request cleaning and it didn't get done, some guests had come down FROM ANOTHER FLOOR and talked religion to him for an hour. Folks, don't do that. As he said, he COULDN'T tell them to leave (hint: don't proselytize people who are paid to agree with you) and they were essentially stealing from the cruisers whose rooms he was paid to care for.
