  1. That's a great idea. As a single cruiser, I don't need things made up every day. More like once every 2-3 days.
  2. Ha,ha- to be fair, I cruise in January so the holidays make things go quickly!
  3. According to Travel Weekly: https://www.travelweekly.com/Cruise-Travel/NCLH-reducing-marketing-spend . Hoping that includes reducing mailings. I usually do look through them and one that came a few weeks ago featured the Escape which is my next cruise, so I cut out the picture and taped it to my monitor at work!
  4. I do! I know when it rolls over to 100 the time starts flying. It's the stretch between 300 and 150 that lasts forever.
  5. I loved the Epic and am always ready to defend her, LOL. Disclaimer that I am a solo traveler so the "bathroom situation" was no problem for me. You will LOVE your itinerary. St. Lucia is amazing.
  6. https://www.ncl.com/shore-excursions will give you some idea of what other excursions are available.
  7. My solo. introverted self cruises Norwegian so I don't have to pick a time to eat dinner with strangers. Also because Mountain Dew but they don't have that anymore. 😭
  8. The only time I had a moments regret not having NCL book my air travel was when the Pearl was turned around and returned to port January 2022. Those who had booked with NCLhad their airfare re-booked and had flights ready when we arrived in Miami. Those of us who booked our own airfare had to do that on our own and had to pay change fees . Fortunately, insurance covered the fee.
  9. Please update with news on if there is noise from above (Garden Cafe). I have rooms in a similar location booked for a back-to-back later this year and then have been worried about the noise. FYI- that I have heard that the noise isn't bad. But I'll take all the opinions, LOL.
  10. Yes, I have. I don't drink and am perfectly happy with the food and service in the dining rooms so I am happy to avoid the added free-at-sea costs. You still get the $50 off shore excursions. Last year I was able to upgrade my sail-away balcony to a family balcony. This year, I got "upgraded" to an angled balcony 3-weeks out (I'd had a prior cabin assignment but it was changed) and oh my goodness! I may never be able to go back to a regular balcony!
  11. Back from my cruise and I really missed my Mountain Dew caffeine fix! Day 3, I dragged myself to Starbucks for a latte and finally got rid of the headache. Treated with diet coke every few days after that.
  12. Yep. Found this out when the Pearl was turned around last January. They gave us FCC then later said, "No, it was a discount and if you don't use it all, you lose the rest." They applied it to my replacement cruise--which I had paid for in full--that left before the "FCC" was even available for use. My replacement cruise was bare bones as I was paying on the spot and had not received any of the reimbursement from the Pearl cruise yet. After much anguish and paperwork mailed and emailed, they did return some of the FCC that I "lost" since I hadn't used all of it on the replacement cruise (that left before the FCC was available for use- eye roll). So, yeah, there are FCCs that aren't really FCCs.
  13. It would if any of the others had Pepsi. I don't think any do now?
  14. Yup- 3 day delay in Dallas with no luggage. Was really glad I packed night clothes and a tooth brush in my carry on.
  15. Make sure you have a change of clothes in your carry on- they may hold your luggage (I speak from experience).
  16. I booked a sailaway cabin for a cruise in January. I just noticed that I now have a room assignment. Is this likely to change or once assigned, can I be fairly certain this final? I am pretty happy with the cabin. I have the minimum bid on an upgrade but this may be in such a good location that an upgrade would be less favorable.
  17. I've only been on Holland and NCL. I liked Holland well enough to book a cruise immediately upon my return. It just happened to be an NCL cruise. But I really liked NC and have booked the rest of my cruises with them. As a single person, I enjoyed the freestyle dining rather than sitting awkwardly at a table of stranger couples. I want to relax and enjoy myself not try to steer conversations away from religion and politics. And then there's the fact that I am a Mountain Dew drinker. Oh, well. That perk is gone. 😭 I can't decide if that is enough of a reason to check out Carnival.
  18. I haven't done that specific tour, but I have toured the forts and the surrounding area/neighborhood. I really enjoyed it, went back to San Juan the next year, and would love to visit again. The tour that I did on my second visit was https://www.viator.com/tours/San-Juan/Let-me-show-you-MY-island/d903-68888P1 and they did pick up at the port and drop-off at the airport. It did tour San Juan but when even further. They went past the forts but did not do in- which since I had done that the previous year, worked fine for me.
  19. And then there are FCC which are not FCCs only discounts or coupons which if not all used at once are forfeited. Not that they ever tell you that until you go to use it and they tell you it is gone.
  20. Just to update on this situation. Norwegian has restored a portion of the FCC (though they are now being sure to call it a one-time use certificate). While there was definitely some inventive accounting going on there (if they did what they now say that they did, they owe me $86 cash which I doubt that I will ever see), I am satisfied enough with their response to continue with my plans to cruise with them again in January. The 100% refund and 100% FCC was very generous. I was more than happy with that. It was when they changed the definition of FCC and applied it to a cruise I had already paid for without letting me know and then telling me that I had no credit left when I had used only a third of it (and that unknowingly!) that made me feel cheated.
  21. Sorry but NCL is in a "Too bad, so sad, sucks to be you," mode right now.
  22. FYI- emails sent to Harry Sommer get sent to Guest Experience which seems to be the exact same thing as Guest Relations.
  23. The website above does contain emails for Harry Sommer and Katty Byrd. I just sent in an appeal via email and hard copy. I have little hope. NCL will do what they want and while they are hemorrhaging money, that's going to be even less than usual. Dear cruise gods, I would be happy to be proven wrong. 🙏
  24. True that. There's really no substitute for Mountain Dew. Even MD Zero tastes nothing like MD, although it is closer than diet. 🤢
  25. If you're into risk taking, book the lowest cabin you would want to be in. After final payment, you can still upgrade if the price goes down.
