  1. What "anything" are you inquiring about? Confused as you said there was much to do in March? Is there any specific things you missed in March that were still closed?
  2. Exactly. You literally can't get off any ship and not see the pool to do anything there.
  3. If you ever cruise again and enjoy the Half Moon Cay experience with the sting rays. Try a cruise to Grand Cayman and do an independant excursion to see their sting rays at Sting Ray City. Still my favorite excursion I have ever done and do that excusion every time I go to Grand Cayman. Petting and feeding wild sting rays is incredibly fun.
  4. Yeah seemed like in the videos the jellyfish swarm in September. But that was just reports from the only September cruisers have been there, so not positive if it is a yearly jellyfish migration or last year was a fluke.
  5. I take it back, I do remember a CD, but only because he was so annoying. Wee Jimmy. He just wouldn't shut up. Loved to make innane announcements all day long.
  6. More concerned that every vidro I have seen from last Septmber in Bimini had everybody talking about lots of Jellyfish in the ocean at every beach and one of the videos said they were told by locals that it happens every September. So if the ocean will be unenjoyable due to jellyfish, I'd like a pool option if neccesary.
  7. No but the first of the big three to get rid of precruise testing will be getting all my money until Carnival decides to wise up. I have two cruises booked already, but my next cruise will be with whoever drops the theatrics. Smart decisions based in reality will drive the market and decide which lines survive and which do not. I'm fine if lines do or do not drop the vaccine reqyurement. I do not care about anybody else's vaccine status But the precruise testing clearly isn't working with how many people are coming home with covid after their cruise. So having an ineffective tool that just places an added cost and time waste upon the cruiser is simply stupid.
  8. I think the first of the big 3 lines to drop the testing is going to be a huge winner. I know we have 2 Carnival cruises alreasdy schedul;ed, but there won't be another until Carinval drops the pre-cruise testing. If RCL or NCL drops testing first. That's where we'll be. Hopefully at least one line keeps all the covid theater for those who want to keep all the trappings going on forever, so they can be happy and at least one line drops all of the theatrics for those who don't enjoy wasting their money and time on the covid stuff. I think giving people both options will raise revenues for lines on either side.
  9. Agree 100%. Never had a CD who impacted my cruise either positively or negatively. I don't think I have ever gotten off a ship, where I could name one. Now, the helpers who run the triivia, games, etc. have made a much bigger impact on my cruises. I also have never understood the cults that yammer on and on about the CDs and which ship they are on and scheduling their cruises around that.
  10. You have to walk past the pool and restaurants to do ANYTHING off the ship in Costa Maya.
  11. We have done anytime dining on every cruise since it was instituted and have never had any problem getting the same servers every night. (actually have gotten the exact same table every single meal except one. Out of dozens) I prefer it 100% over assigned dining. We only have done assigned dining on our first few cruises. One cruise we had a couple who were late every night and the waiters would make the entire table wait for these two idiots every night before they would take our orders. One cruise we were seated with a couple where the husband was super rude and course and just wouldn't shut up the entire meal every night. I don't think anybody enjoyed a meal all week. I curse from time to time. But almost every sentence this guy spoke was punctuated with obscenities. One cruise was actually pretty good, with everybody at the table being well mannered and interesting. But again, one of the port nights one of the couples were late getting back on the ship and the entire table was stuck waiting for them to begin ordering. (at least we had good company at this table while we waited.) I prefer to show up when we want to eat and be able to order and eat in a timely fashion. I know some people enjoy lollygagging for hours over a meal. I enjoy a leisurely meal, but not for hours just waiting to order.
  12. All I care about is priority embark and debarkation and priority tenders. Could careless about the crappy gifts or the diamond/platinum party, etc. FTTF before covid was the first slap in platinum /diamond cruisers faces. Keeping priority embark for suites but not their dedicated cruisers after covid was the second. Their crap excuses for getting even the simplest items back in a timely fashion just shows their lack of care for their dedicated customers.
  13. Somebody just needs to do a thoroughly updated post. Just changing the title still won't get rid of pages of outdated information contained within.
  14. Paradise will help, but also depends on how many other ships will be in port at the same time. I've been to Grand Cayman with just two ships in port with a non stop flow of tenders back and forth. (I think it was four tenders per ship) I've also been there with six ships and only had one tender ferrying people back and forth, so it took forever that day. Check thje schedule for Georgetown that day and what time your ship arrives compared to the others. If it just the Paradise and maybe one other ship you should be good. Just get the earliest ticket you can.
  15. Yeah this thread from almost a decade ago needs a serious update with all new post covid info.
  16. I've stayed in everything from the Garden Villa suite on NCL (look it up, it makes Carnival's best cabin look like a broom closet. Don't get me wrong, it was awesome) My niece and nephew slept in the 3rd bedroom's closet, the room was so big. Down to an inside cabin on the Fantasy class. Balconies and suites are not a deal breaker for me. I have rarely ever gotten my moneys worth from a balcony cabin. I spend too little time in the cabin awake. Prefer the darkness of an inside cabin and much cheaper price versus additional space in a suite versus how much more it costs. Location would be one. (over/under the theater or galley or under the pool deck or buffett etc.) Price is the primary deal breaker for me. Itineraries and length don't matter much . Any day on a cruise that I don't have to cook and clean up is good to me. If I lived near a Florida port I would be happy taking 3 day weekend cruises all the time. I'm happy with my upcoming 4 day cruise from home. (Charleston)
  17. Not really. A parent who lost custody of a child, cruising would be a fantastic way to smuggle a child out of the country to the Bahamas, or Mexico, or Belize, etc. Just get off the ship with the kid in whatever country you want to relocate to and nobody checks info on the other side. The ship will have to report it to authorities when they don't return to the ship. But they'll have a head start to starting a new life circumventing customs in the US.
  18. Probably not on the list because 99.99% of people wouldn't even think of taking a blender on a cruise. (kind of like how Carnival had to add hair dryers and curling irons to the list years ago, because of people bringing those onboard. I'm sure after they confiscate enough blenders, they will get added tp the list.) I guess as long as you are willing to have it confiscated or lose it, give it a try. Those must be some great smoothies. Good luck.
  19. If you want a similar beach club to Paradise beach, you have the next three spots dpwn the road, Mr.Sanchos for the partiers. Playa Mia for the kids, Nachi Cocum for a more peaceful beach day. You also have Money Bar, chankanaab park and many other beach experiences. Snorkeling, dolphin experiences, mayan ruins, etc. Cozumel is one of the best ports for a wide variety of experiences, readily available, and easy to do without a cruise ship excusion.
  20. Prices depend on which pier you are docking at. Puerto Maya or International piers closer to the bach clubs or in town From Puerto Maya or International last I checked it still was $17 per 4 people.
  21. This is a fantastic take on Covid. Personal responsibility and reality when dealing with covid. Not overeacting wanting to project personal phobias onto others lives, but noy dismissing covid either. Too bad everybody can't take such a rational approach to living their life without paralyzing themselves with fear over what they can't control.
  22. 100% agree. Easiest parking except Tampa.
  23. Google British Colonial Hilton. Hotel closed last year, but apparenly somebody is selling passes to use their beach next door. Went there for daypasses when the hotel was open and the pool and hotel facilities were very nice. You might want6 to verify if you get use of the pool and restrooms, chairs etc. If not, the Margaritaville next door offers daypasses with the same beach, multiple pools, a lazy river and all hotel amenities. Haven't been to Nassau to try the facilities but looks amazing from other cruisers you tube videos.
  24. A lot of covid on every ship. CDC color codes.
  25. The second half of October has a much less chance of a hurricane than mid Audust to mid October. Septmber is when they usually hit somewhere in the Caribbean weekly. Just don't take a cruise for a specific port. Be ready to go where the storm is not. Plus even if the storm doesn't hit the week you go, it could damage your port the week before and get you rerouted.
