  1. Just off the Noordam and had two Morimoto meals in the MDR, lobster and halibut. There was a special team onboard to get everyone up to speed on the cooking of the Morimoto dishes because next cruise they would be offered in the Pinnacle Grill as a pop-up event. Both were exceptional and well worth the up charge.
  2. We used luggage forwarding to Seattle last year and it was great. They picked it up on time and dropped it off at the agreed time. We thought we would use them again for a cruise out of Iceland and was shocked by the price. The price was more than flying first class, which we ended up doing.
  3. Second the Marriott Waterfront. We also use Century car service from the airport to the hotel / port.
  4. Space X does have a satellite tracking program that you can enter your position via lat / longs and it will give you your coverage for that area. We found that program useful on a Seaborn trip to Greenland / Iceland.
  5. Holland America Line earns certification for responsible fish sourcing in Alaska From Travel Weekly On a typical Alaska cruise, Holland America Line said it serves more than 2,000 pounds of Alaska salmon, 1,000 pounds of Alaska cod, 800 pounds of Alaska halibut and 500 pounds of Alaska rockfish. HAL has pledged to buy and serve only local, sustainable, fresh seafood on its Alaska cruises. The line said it is the first cruise line to obtain that distinction from Responsible Fisheries Management
  6. The Swarovski binoculars on the Venture were the same quality of the Ziess we usually travel with.
  7. We recently did a Christmas cruise on the Discovery and had a fantastic meal at the Crown Grill. I thought the $42 per person was a steal. We regularly have dinner at Kreg’s chophouse or Charley’s in Orlando and I consider myself fortunate if we can get out for $100 pp. With everything going up $63 is still a steal for a good steak.
  8. We used Crown car service from the airport to the cruise port, as usual the service was fantastic. Unfortunately my wife talked me into using Princess bus service after our December cruise to the airport. Raining like crazy, no signage, very unorganized we finally made it to the bus. Never again.
  9. There is a text when I take my phone out of airplane mode with the driver notifying me that they are close to the airport. After collecting out luggage we text the driver our jacket color ( bright windbreaker work best) and the door number we will be waiting at. Pickup is usually not more than 5 minutes. I have been using them for years and have not had a bad experience both for business and pleasure.
  10. We did a Greenland / Iceland cruise last year on the Venture and sprung for the top tier wireless package. i did not have any problems with my VPN. I did find that Wireguard was a bit faster than OpenVpn.
  11. Ditto on the Swarovski binoculars. They pair well with our Ziess.
  12. I remember some of the tea was from South Africa- typically found at Woolworths.
  13. Ziess- not cheap knockoffs😂 i have noticed that most ship bridges use Steiner Commanders. Seaborn expedition ship do provide Swarovski binoculars in each cabin. Cheers
  14. Every cruise we take Ziess 10x42 binoculars. On Alaska cruises we also put in the Vortex 8x42 viper binoculars. Cheers
  15. It was only offered on sea-days. Not sure what the reasoning was for it, but it was well attended. We also like to plan our days around afternoon tea. Cheers
  16. We did an Iceland - Greenland cruise in June on the Venture. They only had afternoon tea on sea days.
  17. We did the Christmas cruise and had the same problem. We ended up booking a table for 4 and a table for 2. On the day of the dinner we talked to the maitre’d when they opened and there were able to accommodate our request for a 6 top.
  18. In the rough and tumble world of the airport, I use the Nanuk 935 photo case. Upon arrival I take the padded insert and put it into my pacsafe backpack. I really like the pacsafe’s anti-theft features when I am out and about in town. I also take black electrical tape and apply it over any identifier marking on the body along with a LensCoat lens cover to cover up the larger white lenses.
  19. We just finish our cruise from June4 -18, Iceland around Greenland on the Seaborne Venture. We did spring for the enhanced Wi-Fi package and we were able to stream video on the popular streaming services. I was expecting Space X speeds like we have at home, 300-600 mbps, but never saw it. After a lengthy conversation with the IT officer onboard he was able to show me that there was very few Space X satellites above 50 North. It thought the service was good and was generally pleased with the speed. https://satellitemap.space/ https://findstarlink.com/
  20. On the Seaborn Venture- we still have Fox News, MSNBC and CNBC.
  21. We are currently on the Venture. “ Does anyone know what, exactly, Seabourn means by a "fully stocked bar" in a Veranda cabin?“ We were given a very limited selection of spirit/wine that really did not meet our expectations but our mini fridge is stocked with soda and beer. Housekeeping did informed us that the the Constellation Lounge and The Club are "fully stocked bars" and could accommodate our needs
  22. The easiest way to guarantee a way to check in when you arrive is to book the night prior. We will also arrive at 0600 and the hotel has tagged our room as a red eye check-in.
  23. You should check out the Sky lagoon rather than the blue lagoon. The water in the sky pool is clear and it is right by the ocean. The architecture of the building is very icelandic in design - there is a ritual experience including saunas with ocean view and cool mist. You could go to your hotel, drop off your bags - it is about 10-15 mins drive from the city
  24. Yes, I had to delete the app on my iPad and reload it. Works fine now.
