Last cruise I bought 4 bottles from the non complimentary wine list and I had 2 bottles of my own - not the greatest a rosé of the Ott wineries in Provence and a special Greek wine I bought in Rhodos - was 45 € Honestly I did not see a lot of people bringing bottles however few guests were ordering non complimentary wines.

During my recent Splendor cruise the choice of special Champagne and Italian white was rather limited However those days, if you want top vintages and top producers - even on cruise ships the prices are also high. After the millenium prices of the great Bordeaux started to get " crazy" caused by the "new markets"

I have one of another Regent ship earlier this year Wine list is shorter as on Silversea but IMHO prices are very good and honest a lot cheaper as on Crystal or Oceania for sure Connoisseur (1).pdf

and Dru P was on duty on the Regent Splendor as cruise director ( my most recent cruise in late October )

Mrs catlover , many thanks for the very long review- even if I disliked a cruise i simply do not have the courage to go so far in details maybe only on the F&B operations If you are chosing a cruise leaving out of Portugal you must check if another country is involved Morocco or the Canaries ( not part of the Europea Union ) Madeira is part ! , to avoid the taxes Out of Spain its is 10 % and so far no single cruise company had the courage to go to the European Court as a country cannot impose its taxes in another EU country. For health reasons I cannot do crossings , your crossing on the Batory was maybe a once in a lifetime experience - i remember in the 80s promotions were done for that ship a lot cheaper as the QE2 , also the period of the Russian cruise ships ( lots of beetroot and pickled vegetables and mushrooms ) - usually they had the name of a famous writer.

I am a very difficult guy concerning F&B operations and I really had 2 great sailings on the Regent Splendor - and yes the complimentary wines are better as average , for sure better as on SS and SB I do not mind to mention my cabin number for Compass Rose Only the complimentary Champagne Heidsieck Monopole is somewhat "too cheap" in view of the rather high fares on Regent IMHO something better should be offered - like on SS Pommery however Champagne is very personal - during my disaster cruise on Explora , a lot of people were overwhelmed by the free Moët , a brand I simply do not like at all. same for the "yellow widow"😁

on Hapag Lloyd there is fresh fish !!

i am always taking a dayroom at the Pullmann Hotel near the airport taxi is around 40 $ 10 am to 5 pm : around 110 $ complimentary transfer to the airport by the hotel : ( I do give a tip ) it is decent for those few hours

in Villefranche the Welcome hotel is convenient but imho far too expensive for what yout get
