  1. I live south and west of Cape Liberty and NYC and it takes me all of about 20 minutes more to drive to Manhattan than to Cape Liberty. And sometimes the traffic jam getting into Cape Liberty is worse than it is getting into the Manhattan parking, which can make it a longer trip overall than driving to Manhattan. Further mass transit is much better to Manhattan and from a marketplace perspective I believe the population north and east of Manhattan is greater than that south and west so it makes more sense to favor that market. So while it would suit you it probably doesn't make that much sense for the cruise lines. When Carnival Corp. needed more docking capacity in NY for Cunard and Princess they went to Brooklyn, not Bayonne.
  2. There's no reason for NCL to cruise from Cape Liberty. They have primary control of the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, which has the capacity to handle more than one ship per day if needed...in theory up to four ships per day could sail from Manhattan while Cape Liberty only has a single berth. HAL used to do some cruises seasonally from Manhattan but only rarely does so today. They apparently don't think it's a good market for them. Disney already uses Manhattan seasonally, as does Carnival. Again, Cape Liberty would need another berth before any other cruise lines could consider using it as a homeport.
  3. Warwick Long Bay and Jobson's Cove are adjacent to each other on the South Shore. You can get from one to the other via a walking trail. You can take the #7 bus there. Frankly I used to take the public buses everywhere but I'm reluctant to recommend them any longer because service has been so unreliable for the past few years. Other than reliability concerns there's nothing unusual or intimidating about using buses in Bermuda. I'm not sure what you mean by "suggestions for a one day pass". There is only one public transit one day pass, which can be used on both the ferries and buses. It costs $19 per person. A two day pass is $31.50 pp. If you're just taking the bus from your ship to the beach and back then rather than buying the pass just buy 2 tokens at $4.50 each. That way you're only spending $9 per person for the day. If you want to do more bus or ferry rides than that then the pass may be worthwhile. Warwick Long Bay is the longest uninterrupted stretch of beach in Bermuda, while Jobson's Cove is small secluded beach surrounded by rocks. There may be a port-a-potty or small bathroom at Warwick...I don't recall exactly, but there's no concession stand or other facilities although a food truck might visit there in season. There are no facilities at Jobson's Cove. I've never been to Blue Hole Park . It's at the other end of Bermuda. There may be some type of restroom, but no other facilities there. Assuming your ship will be at the Dockyard it requires a combination of ferry and bus...either ferry to St. George and then a #1,3,10 or 11 bus, or ferry to Hamilton and then a #1,3,10 or 11 bus. You could also take the #7 or 8 bus to Hamilton and then the #1,3,10 or 11.
  4. Trinityreservations.com offers hotel and parking packages.
  5. Look at trinityreservations.com for packages. Typically shuttle service to and from the port is included.
  6. I believe you can just walk in, but I suggest you call the office you want to use when you arrive in NY to verify. As an alternative there are telehealth testing services that will do an observed test similar to what eMed and Inspire Diagnostics do, but using test kits you buy yourself. So when you get to NY you can walk into any drug store and buy over the counter rapid antigen test kits and then make a telehealth appointment with one of these services. I've seen some cruisers mention this company, OnPoint testing. https://onpoint-testing.com/product/certified-teleservice-covid-testing/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7KWB08ra-AIVkbfICh19ngeMEAAYASAAEgL3ufD_BwE .
  7. I answered your question on the East Coast Departures board, and recommend using CityMD, which is a chain of walk in urgent care medical centers with many locations in NY City and surrounding areas.
  8. There's a chain of urgent care medical centers, CityMD, with numerous locations throughout NY City and surrounding areas. They offer COVID 19 testing at all locations, including rapid tests. Since you'll be in NY pre cruise you can get tested at one of their offices that is (hopefully) located near your hotel. https://www.citymd.com/
  9. If you look at the application form carefully you'll see that the confirmation (reservation) number is not mandatory. It says: " If you have your cruise confirmation number, please add it here to assist in the testing process. "
  10. Should be similar. Uber prices fluctuate based on supply and demand, hence their notorious surge pricing. You can get Uber price estimates from this page on their website https://www.uber.com/global/en/price-estimate/ or you can use their smartphone app.
  11. But not until the ship sails, which is too late for purposes of issuing the travel authorization.
  12. I think it added a day and a half in each direction so what was otherwise a one week Hawaii cruise was 10 days long when they went to Fanning Island.
  13. In my experience those types of "extras' only potentially delay embarking passengers, not disembarkations. You want everyone off the ship ASAP if there's a Coast Guard inspection or extra cleaning to do.
  14. You'll definitely be docking in Brooklyn. The ship will be starting a series of one week Canada/New England cruises from Brooklyn on that date. Here's the port schedule https://www.nycruise.com/schedule/ . You're on a transatlantic cruise coming from Southampton. From your itinerary I see the ship stops in Boston before New York, which means you'll clear immigration there, leaving only customs clearance in Brooklyn, and that is normally a very cursory process. That means you should be able to disembark pretty quickly and maybe you don't even have to do walk off. Yes, car services can access the port as can Uber/Lyft.
  15. No doubt it's Princess based on the "Manhattan or Brooklyn". I took a quick look at the 2022 port schedule and unless I overlooked something there's only one Princess cruise this year that will dock in Manhattan. @cjpj if you tell us exactly what cruise you're on it will be easy to verify whether it's docking in Brooklyn or Manhattan. If it's Brooklyn an 11:30 flight from LGA is doable, but keep in mind that docking at 6 am doesn't mean you'll be able to disembark that early. Actually even from Manhattan an 11:30 flight from LGA can be done if everything goes according to schedule but I'd do early self disembarkation and book a car service such as Dial 7 or Carmel Limo in advance
  16. Which cruise terminal ? Manhattan, Brooklyn or Cape Liberty (which is actually in New Jersey)?
  17. Hotel recommendations are frequent topics of discussion on the East Coast Departures board so I suggest you post your question there particularly since it has nothing to do with NCL per se. There are lots of places you can stay for a night. The Parsippany area right off of I-80 has a number of hotels and is less than an hour from the port. Closer in there are hotels in the Ridgefield Park area.
  18. Of course. You bought it. It's yours to keep. Just let your cabin steward know that you want it moved to your new cabin along with your other belongings.
  19. Then you shouldn't park at the port . Park at an EWR long term lot or a parking facility near EWR. Take Uber or Lyft to the port on embarkation day.
  20. There's a cluster of five hotels on International Blvd. in Elizabeth . An outlet mall and a couple of chain restaurants are adjacent. They're about a 20 or 25 minute drive from the port.
  21. The NCL ship (Joy) was docked. I clearly saw the Joy on the port webcam. It was the Carnival Legend that was anchored .The Carnival ship was never supposed to be docked...it was scheduled to be anchored, but Carnival may have neglected to tell its passengers, or perhaps some passengers were just assumed they would be docked. I checked the Carnival Legend Roll Call and indeed a person did mention about the mess and disorganization in the tendering process. NCL, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity ships that regularly cruise to Bermuda have docking priority under their contracts with Bermuda. Carnival does not .
  22. The part about being denied boarding is incorrect. Nothing prevents someone with a DUI from boarding a cruise that starts in the US because the cruise line has no basis for doing so and Canada doesn't get the passenger manifest until after the ship has departed its homeport. When the ship arrives in its first Canadian port, officials there will only then decide whether they will allow the passenger to disembark or require the passenger to stay on board.
  23. There's a difference between not using LA as "any kind of departure port", which is what you said in your first post and "not going to put a ship here in San Pedro on a regular basis", which is what you're saying in this post. "Not on a regular basis" doesn't mean there aren't (or won't be on the future) "any", and Oceania's published schedule clearly includes cruises departing San Pedro, so it's not a matter of what I know, it's a matter of what my eyes are reading.
  24. I don't recall precisely, but I may have added that to the original post and if you quoted it almost immediately after i posted my edit may not have hit the board yet.
