  1. I’d choose #1. All Scandinavia and Stavanger is a delightful town , with a trip by boat to Pulpit Rock a bonus (or you can climb it if you physically fit!).
  2. One on the very best cruises we have been on! …..and we had perfect weather every day. And your price looks great.
  3. It is a wonderful restaurant, good food and full of history. Our favorite for a special meal when we are in Oslo. Eating outside (in warm!) weather makes it even more special.
  4. Takes awhile to get there, but the view is awesome. I’d include the Opera House (roof can be slippery if ice is present.) Personally, I prefer the National Museum to the Munch Museum, but both are worthwhile. The Viking Ship Museum is closed at present.
  5. If you are a wine drinker, you can request wine instead of the liquor.
  6. You are correct. That tour pretty well covers what VO has to offer in Iceland. Perhaps plan to stay in Iceland on your own if you want to spend more time there. Iceland is easy to get around on your own, via public transportation or renting a car.
  7. I would respectfully disagree. There are at least nine different cruises listed on the website, and that doesn’t include combinations you can put together.
  8. You can also request bottles of wine in place of the liquor if you choose.
  9. Check Viking Ocean Cruises. Northern Europe is their best territory.
  10. Cruise 3 would be my first, second and third choice.
  11. Canopy Hotel (a Hilton brand) is a good choice.
  12. You can find excellent tours to all those places. Consider stopping at the Blue Lagoon on your way back to the airport…there are also tours that do that! I prefer not to drive in Iceland; roads much different outside of Reykjavik than in the US or Canada.
  13. Nynashamn instead of Stockholm would be a dealbreaker for me.
  14. I have never done the Viking transfer Bergen to Oslo, but I do not think it includes the side trip to Flam. The train ride itself spends about 3 hours in magnificent scenery (Bergen - Geilo), but after that it is less spectacular. Personally, I would do the transfer on my own, including an overnight in Flam. A TA can arrange it, including forwarding your heavy luggage from Bergen to your hotel in Oslo. Hope this info in helpful.
  15. Thank you for your information. You seem to be one of the few people who knows what he is talking about and I appreciate your insights.
  16. I am with the do-it- yourself group. The one time we used a TA (for a cruise with another line) it was one hassle after another. In all our dealings with Viking we have had nothing but smooth sailing. Problems were handled quickly and the Viking reps were always pleasant to talk with and extremely efficient.
  17. You could easily spend a year there and not see “everything”- - I have been there at least 20 times and there are still places I have never been. Are you mostly interested in nature, WWII history, Vikings, food, handicrafts, fjords or? Ask away!
  18. I really like fish and there was plenty on our “Into the Midnight Sun”. I believe salmon is always available.
  19. Enjoy! We had a number of trips on Hurtigruten and love traveling with them. If you can, pack some sort of removable studded trax for your boots. You may run into very slippery sidewalks in Northern Norway.
  20. PS cabins and above get free laundry service. Definitely a bonus!
  21. We also had a PJS and booked 6 reservations. After one meal at each, we cancelled the remaining four…Nothing wrong with them, we thought the food, etc., was excellent, but we preferred The Restaurant or the World Cafe.
  22. When in Reykjavik, if time permits, visit Harpa, the beautiful concert hall… good place for lunch and there is an afternoon tour that takes you backstage. My favorite museum is the National Museum of Iceland…so much to see; I have spent hours there. Great city, lovely people, good food —-from hot dogs to gourmet. Enjoy!
