  1. Jim, could I just verify which suite this is for? The file indicates it's 903 but the file says 905. Also states that it's on the port side of the vessel (odd numbers should all be starboard). I'm guessing it's 903 since you said it's the most forward F2 but wanted to be sure. Thanks!
  2. We've had so many changes, cancellations, FCCs, deposits, etc. jumbled around since 2020 that I can't really keep it all straight. At this point if I lost $200 for cancelling a cruise I probably wouldn't even notice... Still annoying, though.
  3. We had to back out of our January cruise from LA-Mia (with stops in Mexico) and the more of these stories I read the less upset I am.
  4. Thanks for posting that, I hadn't seen it. To be honest, they lost me at 'tie'. I don't even wear a tie in the office anymore, I'll be damned if I wear one on vacation. 🙂
  5. I actually found a recipe online somewhere for cronuts using packaged pastry dough. Not as good as on Regent, of course, but a good stopgap until we cruise again. I'll see if I can find the link.
  6. I know I've chimed in more times than anyone wants to hear, but I feel that the Cat H cabins are just too damn small for a couple, even a very cozy couple. The G's are noticeably roomier and more comfortable for not much more money. And I always recommend people see if an F2 is in the budget - yeah, it's a bit more money - but it's a LOT more cabin with a fantastic layout. So my advice is stretch for the F2 if you can, but really, a G is a much better deal than an H and really not much more expensive. As always, just my opinion....
  7. I must be different than most everyone else - I rarely watch TV or movies on board...there's so much else to do that parking my butt on the couch watching a movie I could see at home just seems...I don't know, wasteful, I guess? But that's just me.
  8. We were planning on going to Japan for a week on our trip last months, but due to the uncertainty with traveling there we decided to spend that time in Hawaii instead. After spending 4 hours in a mask while just transiting Narita, I'm glad we made that decision. I've wanted to visit Japan for a long time, but the way things are right now, I'm guessing it'll be 2-3 years before things are 'normal' enough for me to want to go.

  10. Hahaha! I'm usually the one pointing out these things...and somehow I got caught up in the ol' switcheroo myself. I had a German teacher tell us that we can remember the pronunciation of 'ei' and 'ie' in words by just remembering 'bier' and 'wein'. I still use that trick on unfamiliar words today...
  11. Not sure which one of the millions of mailings you're referring to...maybe a picture or description of the dessert would help...
  12. Hot is the word - I'd never been to Asia or the South Pacific before - I knew it's often hot and muggy there but I wasn't prepared for actually experiencing it. We live in SC and we're used to 90* days with 90% humidity, but we just got back from a trip to Guam last week and...Oh. My. Gawd. It's oppressive. Like a physical presence. I have a newfound respect for our troops who fought in the Pacific and in Vietnam...how they managed to deal with that is beyond me. So yeah, be sure to drink plenty of fluids and take it easy.
  13. When you say 'we' I'm guessing it's two of you - IMO, the Cat H is too small for two people. A G cabin isn't much more expensive and gives you more room and more storage. Conversely, although an F2 might be even more expensive it really seems to hit the 'sweet spot' on the cost/comfort chart. I'd definitely recommend at least a G cabin for not much more $$, and if you can stretch for an F2, I don't think you'd regret it. The layout is much better in the F cabins, and the ocean-facing bed is sweet. It's at least worth looking at the numbers, I think...
  14. We had the push-through tags on our last cruise in January and I much prefer those to the peel-and-stick tags. I found the push-through tags to be durable and easy to use.
  15. Silversea was always at the bottom of my list of the 'Big Four' (or 'Big Three' now, I guess - or is it back to four? Who knows???) My personal order of preference, based solely on internet research and reading bajillions of reviews on CC, was: 1. Regent 2. Seabourn 3. Crystal 4. Silversea Now bear in mind that I've only ever sailed Regent, and they've almost always met our needs perfectly. Of course, over the years I'm sure things have changed and I might need to reevaluate, but for us, R is the best fit. I've come close to booking on other lines but so far haven't found the perfect itinerary that would make me stray from our old standby. But the bottom line, as I see it, is that I'd probably be happy on any of the luxury lines. I've compared cruise lines to German cars before - I prefer BMWs, but I'd probably be just as happy in an Audi, Porsche, or Mercedes. But I keep sticking with what I'm familiar with. 🙂 But I gotta say, if the cruise fares keep climbing like they have been, I'm thinking a few weeks in a nice resort might start to look a lot more appealing...
  16. We've sailed in 911 before, one of our favorite F2s on the ship, love the balcony. Unless there's something weird on the other side of the ship this should be an excellent cabin.
  17. My wife calls me 'Billmelda' when we're on a cruise...I think I take more shoes than she does. Or I did, anyhow, I'm getting better. But realistically, I could easily get by with 2-3 pairs - I usually end up with two pair of casual shoes, a pair of flip flops for the pool deck or light walking excursions, and a pair of athletic shoes for the more active excursions. Don't ask me about the time we sailed Cunard with the formal nights and more stringent dress requirements...I think I had almost half a suitcase full of shoes. Pathetic, I know.
  18. II was going to say the same thing - I'm pretty sure every domestic leg we've taken on the same airline and same ticket has been First Class when connecting to International Business Class. Not guaranteed, of course, but highly probable. Of course, we choose our own flights to send to the air desk, and when you select them it shows you what class you'll be in.
  19. I think it's also safe to say that the behavior of kids under 18 corresponds directly to the behavior of the over 18's that trained 'em...
  20. Guilty as charged. With the caveat that we were on one side of the kids' cabin, and the grandparents were on the other side. The cabin stewards were also told to let us know of any infractions ASAP. The girls were 16 and 17 at the time and under pain of death for any improper behavior. They pretty much binge-watched 'Glee' and ordered room service the entire trip. In all of our Regent cruises there has only been one trip where we had some 'out of control' kids on board. A few calls to the desk (I'm sure we weren't the only ones) and a few 'polite discussions' with the parents took care of it, fortunately. I'd like to think the captain threatened to put them all ashore at the next port, but whatever actually happened seemed to fix the issue.
  21. I'll admit to eating WAY more schnitzel than any one man should...the main thing to remember about schnitzel is that it's a 'family' of entrees, roughly translated to 'cutlet', I guess - true Weinerschnitzel (Vienna-style schnitzel) should be thinly sliced veal, pounded thin, lightly breaded, fried and served with a wedge of lemon to spritz it with. In Germany you'll sometimes get a mushroom sauce with it. The other types of schnitzel generally refer to the sauce or type of meat used (usually veal or pork, sometimes poultry). Crap. Now I want schnitzel and spätzle for dinner....
