  1. You could try Quick Shuttle. They can pick you up right at Canada Place (or very close by) and drop you off at SeaTac or vice versa if going from Seattle to Vancouver. I know many Canadians who take them if we're picking up a cruise out of Seattle.
  2. I've stayed in both style of inside cabins on the Koningsdam. First one I did was a regular one (8 Aft), it was roomy enough for two. Second one was a sideways inside cabin (5 forward) and that I really liked that. I much preferred the layout and it certainly seemed like there was more room. If I had a choice between the two on Koningsdam, I'd definitely go for a sideways.
  3. My first HAL trip was on the Koningsdam last September, I was in an interior aft cabin under the Sea View Pool and I didn't hear any noises the entire time. The only thing that did wake me up unexpectedly on that trip was the 3:30 AM in room emergency announcement from the captain and a follow up from the Cruise Director saying all is fine.
  4. When I was on the Koningsdam in December, near my stateroom, there were a couple of Verandah staterooms that had their scooters parked outside of their staterooms every night. I don't know if it was a case that they couldn't get it inside or felt they didn't need to get it inside. Hopefully your travel companion won't have any problems with it.
  5. I was on Discovery the week before (LA - Vancouver) and I honestly expected the food to be better. Some nights, it was excellent, however, there were a couple nights that were just disappointing and some of the things that I really enjoyed on previous cruises, fell way short. For example, on previous cruises, I've really enjoyed the Hot Smoked Salmon with potato and sour cream - on one cruise, it was my favourite appy. This time, it was mostly potato salad and I would've needed a microscope to find the smoked salmon. That same night, I was looking forward to the pork loin only to end up getting lukewarm ham - and also the same night consisted of an overbaked crab and artichoke dip. I enjoyed the pot roast, I also had some delicious salmon at the first day lunch and a delicious salmon cake (w/a poached egg and hollandaise sauce) appy was so good, I could've made a meal out of them. The prime rib was excellent, the steak and lobster was very tender and tasty and the chicken and waffles in the MDR at lunchtime were fantastic. The Catch at Rudi's was quite excellent as well - two things that really stood out to me were the smoked salmon (smoked under a cloche at the table), the berry souffle - the souffle was big and delicious. However, if you're going to get calamari for an appy at lunch time in the MDR, be prepared to order perhaps a triple order minimum. When I ordered the calamari appy, I got 3.5, maybe 4 rings of calamari. My table mate got 4 or 5. I attached a pic, so you can see for yourselves. The buffet was immense and impressive - so many things to choose from (perhaps too many). International Cafe was always excellent (although, you'll have to ask for the cookies since they have them out on display when I was on board).
  6. 330 days as per HAL: https://www.hollandamerica.com/en/ca/plan-a-cruise/get-ready-for-your-cruise/faq#237:~:text=Confirm your preferred flights as early as 330 days prior to your return or as late as 4 days before departure.
  7. It's actually spelled TuGo. As for your other questions, thankfully I've never had to make a claim so I can't help you there.
  8. Mine were cancelled the day after the announcement was made.
  9. My first Princess cruise was a stateroom right beside the laundry room and I didn't hear a peep in the entire week.
  10. Usually, watch it on the stateroom TV first then report to your muster station.
  11. To directly address the quoted text: It was 2022 Alaska season - I was on one of those cruises. Went on two cruises on the Crown in 2023 and it was fine - those problems were gone then but perhaps in the last 6 months, those problems could've popped up again. But having just crossed the Pacific on HAL Koningsdam (was actually originally booked on the Crown, but that's another story for another day), there were some rough sea days. For me, they were rough, but manageable and it was my first time crossing the Pacific. However, I've experienced rougher waters coming up the west coast and in Alaska.
  12. I know someone jokingly said maybe they're in the Brig but on Friday afternoon, my cabinmate witnessed the aftermath of Meatball leaving "a gift", his owner was desperately trying to get rid of on the Deck 4 forward elevator landing, perhaps they were placed elsewhere. My cabinmate beelined it to Guest Services to complain about it.
  13. I recently received some very nice discounted casino rates for cruises that go well into next year. I am considering booking at least one of them but I have a couple of questions. 1. Is it treated like a typical booking, where I pay a deposit and then pay the remainder 3 months before voyage or do I have to pay it in full at the time of booking? 2. I have a future cruise deposit - will that satisfy the deposit portion or can that not be applied on discounted rates? Thank you in advance.
  14. I've sailed on her 3 times now in the last 2 years and have a future cruise booked with her already. I've never sought out this ship specifically, it just happened to be the ship for all the cruises I wanted to be on. Obviously, it's not so bad that I would say, never again. I'll try to answer some questions (the numbers listed correspond with your numbers - wanted to add that because otherwise it looks like I can't count lol): 1. Can't speak to that because my mattress has always been really good (I've been Inside Plaza deck). 2. The last times I was on (in April and June), Botticelli was open (even though the paperwork said Da Vinci was). 3. My best guess would probably be Botticelli simply because it's the biggest dining room on the ship. Although, I did see a big group of around 15 in Michelangelo's one night. 4. You can get some specialty coffee at Coffee and Cones. 6. Afternoon tea on Sea Days. Those have taken place in Da Vinci's. Get there early because sometimes the lineups are massive. It will be in the Patter and on every cruise I've taken, it's been from 3 - 4 PM. Other thoughts: She's not a bad ship at all. Does it have all the bells and whistles that other Princess I've heard about and seen online? Not really. Could she use a retrofit? Yeah, she's somewhat dated. If you like buffets, you're probably going to be sorely disappointed because the buffet on the Crown is so poorly laid out in my opinion and pales in comparison to what I've seen online to most of the other Princess ships. Some of the food too was such a miss. Like, a roast beef that lacked seasoning or corned beef that was covered in BBQ sauce - that one hurt my heart. Overall, it seems like you're going in with the right attitude and I'm sure you'll have a great time!
  15. I know I'm not the OP, but I too was on this cruise and had reservations for every dining room and of course, perspectives may vary. I had reservations for either 7 PM or 7:40 PM, private table for 2. Botticelli can get really crowded if having to wait because of it's location (aft) so one night, we were halfway up the stairs waiting to get in. Da Vinci's wait wasn't too bad, from what I can recall. I'll admit, the way it worked out reservations wise, we dined there the least. Michelangelo (Deck 5) was typically the quickest, except one night where we were waiting for quite awhile (I think it was they didn't have place settings ready). Also, for us, it was the one dining room we had issues with particularly having our wait staff having to handle a party of 17 (not a typo), which left us basically abandoned (and they didn't get any backup) and also in this dining room, there is one waiter in particular that would literally spend 15 mins talking to a table of regulars while everyone else around them is working and trying to serve patrons.
  16. Had a cabin right next to the laundromat and never heard a thing. Can't even hear machines going standing right outside the door.
  17. The CD Olivia Guthrie just left the ship today. As for her replacement, I don't know his name.

  19. Just got off the Crown as well. Alan was there for the first sea day before he was disembarking at Juneau to go back to work in the UK. We had Alaska-based author Nick Jans come on board at Haines (I think) and he did a couple presentations on the second sea day.
  20. I was on the Crown repositioning cruise to Alaska in late April and on the Crown the year before that, my beds were very comfortable — wish I could take it home with me comfortable. However, find a way to cover the ultrasensitive motion detector nightlights (particularly near the bed) because that will go off at the slightest bit of motion (like my foot slightly hanging off the bed).
  21. RESOLVED While I was expecting a phone call, I got an email (with the booking confirmation attached) stating that I owe nothing extra and my rate is indeed being honored. Logged into my Princess account and it says the same thing. Happy that this was resolved quickly.
  22. So I discovered almost two months after the final payment that my cruise fare shot up and that I suddenly owe money despite having paid in full. I didn't bid on any upgrades or anything like that and I was able to make my reservations for dinner, make an excursion booking, and got my flight confirmation through EZ Air. The only reason I found this out is because I wanted to add a couple of pre-cruise things (pre-paying gratituties, etc) and discovered I could not without owing what works out to be approximately an additional 30% of my base fare. Called Princess and now my apparent promo code that I originally booked under is no longer attached and now the entire cruise fare is under review. Apparently, this has to do with a previous software update that screwed things up. Has this happened to anyone else? Any tips besides have all my documentation/correspondence at the ready (which I do)? Thank you in advance.
  23. I don't quite remember because I drove to Seattle and I went to a casino approx. 30 mins away for dinner. You might be better off finding the local pizza place or another local restaurant and just get delivered to the hotel.
