  1. Scootaround for sure rents equipment for delivery to your ship in Tampa. We have rented from Scootaround many times for Celebrity cruises. https://scootaround.com/en/cruise-medical-equipment-rentals You need to advise Celebrity's Access Dept at (954) 628-9708 or e-mail to special_needs@celebrity.com
  2. Are you going to be on Carnival? If so, their website does state that passengers must make their own arrangements for oxygen delivery and the delivery company needs to contact Carnival to ensure they have port clearance. Have you tried specialneedsatsea dot com? Or do a google search for oxygen delivery and charleston. There appear to be several companies that deliver equipment but you'd have to check with them regarding delivery to the cruise ship.
  3. Here's another thread discussing how to spend OBC: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2805657-what-to-do-with-obc/
  4. 1) We book as much as a year or more out. But they can be found closer to sailing. You just have to check the cruise(s) you are looking at to see if they have any available. 2) We have been on all the major cruise lines but mostly Royal, Princess and Celebrity. They all have very good accessible rooms as far as we're concerned. The ships are all accessible. Very easy. If you find a bump somewhere, you can just go around it next time. 3) Accessible staterooms cost the same as non-accessible rooms in the same category. 4) I've never seen deals specifically for accessible rooms, but if the cruise line is offering deals the accessible rooms would be included (assuming there are any available). 5) Yes balconies. Yes suites. When you narrow things down, come back to this board and ask any questions you might have regarding a specific cruise line or ship. Or anything else. There are many, many mobility challenged passengers on cruise ships. FYI: https://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=1820
  5. Generally scooters are not allowed on tenders unless roll-on capability is available. You might contact Celebrity's Access Department (you've already notified them you are bringing a scooter, correct?) and ask if it possible to board the tender if you break down your scooter. Here's their contact information if you don't already have it: Access Department (954) 628-9708 (voice), e-mail special_needs@celebrity.com This is directly from Celebrity's website: ...Many ports provide easy access for wheelchairs and scooters, however due to various conditions: steepness of the gangway, tendering, weather, tidal and sea conditions, and shore-side facilities, guests using assistive devices may be precluded from getting on or off the ship. We will make reasonable efforts to assist our guests, but for safety reasons, our staff is not permitted to lift guests or equipment. Assistance with manual wheelchairs, walkers, canes, etc. will be provided.
  6. Are you considering a Celebrity shore excursion or a private one? The Celebrity shore excursion department might be able to answer the question about the type of vehicle that will be used (personally, we have not had much luck with the shore excursion people actually on the ship regarding questions about accessibility). Both the places you are considering are quite a ways from Cozumel so be prepared for a long day. Here are a couple of links regarding accessibility of Tulum and Chichen Itza that might help you decide which one to go to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGaJz580Uu8&t=11s https://www.apieceoftravel.com/wheelchair-accessibility-at-chichen-itza/
  7. It sure does. At the top of Dine My Way (in the app) it says "Enjoy club Class Dining. There is no reservation necessary." But there is also an option to add a reservation, which is what I did to get the Coral dining room reservations. I'm deleting them now ...
  8. I already made reservations for every night in the Coral Dining Room. I take it I should cancel those reservaitons and just go to the Club Class entry?
  9. Where, exactly, on the Caribbean Princess is the Club Class dining/restaurant area? We are in a suite and the app says we dine in Club Class and no reservations needed.
  10. I know I saw this mentioned somewhere but now I can't find the answer. When using the app, it defaults to my upcoming April cruise. I've logged off and back on and it just goes to the same cruise. I want to access a different cruise (in June) that I have booked. How do I switch over to the June cruise?
  11. For our cruise in April on the Caribbean Princess, we are in a suite and I am trying to book the complimentary speciality dining on embarkation day in the Crown Grill. I have tried booking using the app and also on the Princess website and on both the order summary says cover charge (adult) x2 = $78 and then dining credit of $39.00, with a balance owing of $39.00. I also tried booking Sabitinis and it was the same thing (except it showed a balance owing of $35). The perk is: Complimentary Specialty Dining Dinner on embarkation evening What am I doing wrong that it is not showing the entire meal (for 2) as complimentary?
  12. OK, I'm on the app trying to book the complimentary specialty dinner on embarkation day (we are in a suite). It says the cost is $39 for adults in the Crown Grill and $35 for adults in Sabatinis. Since this dinner is supposed to be complimentary, how do I make a reservation at one of these restaurants without getting charged?
  13. Just looked at the app for our upcoming cruise on the Caribbean Princess and for the Crown Grill it says $39pp adults $19.50 kids. For Sabatinis it is $35 pp adults $17.50pp kids.
  14. Here is a photo of our bar set up on the Caribbean Princess from last year. Since we had the drink package, we just took the little bottles home.
  15. You can also get the printed daily activity sheet in large print. We always ask for the large print verison through Celebrity's Access Department prior to sailing but I'm sure you could make a request at Guest Services or your stateroom attendant. Same goes for menus. Access Department: (954) 628-9708 (voice) or e-mail to special_needs@celebrity.com
  16. Royal has its own wheelchair assistance. However, if you get wheelchair assistance beginning outside the terminal, the pusher will be one of the port employees. That person will push you as far as they are allowed to go and then a Royal pusher takes over. So you may in fact have two different people pushing you. (Tips are appreciated.) You may also have to wait in a seating area for the Royal pusher as it is pretty much first come first served. The pushers know all the short-cuts to take. In November the Equinox was docked at a different location than its usual dock and the ramps were the worst I've ever seen. However, the (Royal) wheelchair pusher took a different route, through the cargo loading area and missed the ramps entirely.
  17. We were on the Equinox last month. Stairs only to the Retreat sundeck. The Retreat sundeck is only available to guests in suites.
  18. Standard stateroom doors are 32 inches wide. A fold up scooter would fit.
  19. Ahhh. special@needs@rccl.com was the email Celebrity was using for our upcoming cruise in February. On Celebrity's website it lists special_needs@celebrity.com. 🙄
  20. You will need to arrange for a rental from an outside company. The two companies most often mentioned are scootaround.com and specialneedsatsea.com. The equipment will be in your stateroom when you board and you leave it there when your cruise is over. You will want an accessible stateroom if a scooter is rented. You will need to advise Celebrity and they will have you complete a Special Needs form. Celebrity's Access Department is (954) 628-9708 (voice) or send an e-mail to special_needs@celebrity.com. PS: If you happen to use scootaround.com, try this code for a discount (if you can't get it to work on their website, give them a call): USCRUISE (from the United Spinal Association). Also regarding scootaround, if you book on-line, their system will add insurance to your price so you must uncheck the insurance choice if you do not want it. Celebrity's FAQ re accessible cruising: https://www.celebritycruises.com/faqs/accessible-cruising Celebrity's special needs link: https://www.celebritycruises.com/special-needs Celebrity's accessible brochure: https://www.celebritycruises.com/special-needs And hop on over to the disabled cruise forum where you can find anything you ever wanted to know about renting scooters: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/114-disabled-cruise-travel/
  21. We were on the Caribbean Princess twice during 2022 and always went to the casino in the mornings. This is also where a lot of the smoking non-gambling passengers hang out just to smoke. At least since it was morning, the smoking gamblers were not as plentiful as later in the day. One of our FREE suite amenities is below.
  22. Here is the disembarkation information from our Equinox cruise last month. Equinox debark 1.pdf Equinox debark 2.pdf
  23. Just received an email from Celebrity this morning called Exciting Deals which says it's last minute deals on their final few staterooms. We are going to be on the Reflection in February and our sailing was listed as one of the Exciting Deals so I did a dummy booking for the stateroom category we have booked and with the exciting last minute deals price, it is $2000 more than we paid.
