Funny how cruise lines, airlines, hotels, etc. use the term “nominal fee”, which is supposed to mean that it’s so small it’s a fee in name only, to gouge their customers.
-
I did it online, when I got to the place of finalizing the reservation there was a check box to use one of your ‘free” reservations.

Yes, you are. Which doesn’t mean you shouldn’t, either on shore or at a specialty restaurant, but it is something to take into consideration.

I could eat five meals a day, but it might interfere with making sure I get all fifteen alcoholic drinks in. You have to have priorities. 😉 Regardless, I’m just saying that you might also think about the opportunity cost of not eating in the MDR when deciding whether to pay for a meal at a specialty restaurant.

It’s more like dropping $50 to go to Outback when you’ve already paid for a meal at Applebee's.

carrying CPAP on land portion of an Alaskan Cruise/Tour?
Mark_K replied to Mary loves to travel's topic in Princess Cruises
We were able to get distilled water at all of the Princess Lodges we stayed at. If I remember right it came in glasses with Saran Wrap over the top. -
Can assigned "Guaranteed" rooms change after assigned?
Mark_K replied to Sam.Seattle's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I’m not quite clear, if your cabin wasn’t yet assigned why did you want to move? And if GTY was the only class available what non-GTY cabin were you expecting to move to? -
Celebrity Cruiser Looking to try Princess! Help!
Mark_K replied to cheeseheads4ever's topic in Princess Cruises
For some perspective in the other direction, there’s a Celebrity vs Princess thread on the Celebrity board. Celebrity vs Princess -
It seems unlikely that the ten minutes would make a difference in your ability to make your flight. I was able to book it without having entered any flight information, hopefully that won’t cause problems later. I just figured that if i wasn’t using Princess Air, flight time wouldn’t matter to them. The wording in the tour description is a little funny, though, I’m not sure what they’re trying to say. Passengers with Princess Air should book a customized air flight ticket to be sure they can participate on a tour the day of disembarkation. Passengers without a customized air flight may not be booked on a flight which will permit them to participate on a tour on the day of disembarkation.

If a lot of Retreat cabins were sold as GTY, and the actual rooms were not yet assigned, it would look like a lot of availability for MoveUp’s because the rooms appeared unsold, when in fact there was not much availability.

Guarantee Aqua or pick your own cabin Veranda?
Mark_K replied to avic77's topic in Celebrity Cruises
If the price is the same, I’d go for the Aqua guarantee and hope for the best on location. Having breakfasts and dinners in Blu makes it a whole different experience than a Veranda cabin. -
I imagine there are similar cruises with a $10,000 per cabin difference, but I’ve never seen one, and I think it’s more the exception than the rule. Of course, unlike with you, we’re pretty flexible and I compare the best pricing I can find with the best pricing I can find.

I don’t think they’ve announced it, but Silversea’s first level over its initial level is 100 days. That would put it in the D/D+, E/E+ area.
-
That’s quite a big difference, I’ve never found it that large when comparing suite to suite and remember that the SS price is out the door, so to speak. No adding of taxes, port fees, gratuities. Also, you have to compare to the SS port to port pricing or else add airfare, etc. to the Celebrity price.

I think the OP made it up.

If someone can't go last minute with Platinum insurance
Mark_K replied to rocklinmom's topic in Princess Cruises
Yes, I neglected to mention I was talking about getting a refund. Mea Culpa. -
Thanks.

I’m glad that worked out for you, but it’s not the same as getting a refund, and doesn’t work out for everyone. -

Princess Platinum is not a cancel for any reason plan. You may need a letter from the physician that she’s unable to travel. You do see people cruising in casts, etc. -
It pays to get the platinum princess insurance
Mark_K replied to Knickearth's topic in Princess Cruises
But it is explicitly excluded by the Princess coverage if you had been drinking or taking drugs. -
That’s pretty much gobbledygook for a person without much history with the Princess board and its acronyms.

Also, unless something has changed post-COVID, the bottles you pay the $20 fee for can be brought to the dining room without an additional corkage fee, so you could bring those bottles to dinner instead of just a glass.
