  1. Which doesn’t work so well if your cruise leaves from Southampton and you need euros. It’s somewhat of a conundrum for me, we leave Southampton, have a stop in Portland, and then a tour directly from the ship in Ireland.
  2. Maybe you’ll be able to get thirty drinks a day.😉
  3. Sure, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Norwegian had bag specials, Silversea and Princess had self-serve laundry.
  4. I’ve sailed on five different cruise lines, three had laundry bag specials, two had self-serve laundry, none had both.
  5. I believe the standard door width on cruise ships is 23”, but you have to subtract for the door, so usable width is 21-22”.
  6. To me, it made it sound like Celebrity did more than point you in a direction. Like actually seeing to it that your bags got from the building to the bus.
  7. I’m not sure what you meant by this. On the one we did, they may have physically loaded it onto the bus, but we had to schlep it all to the bus and hand it to them.
  8. It’s true in the way that it’s true if you buy a Powerball ticket you might win The Jackpot.
  9. No one really wants it to happen, but a solid minority of cruisers must want to risk it because they don’t buy insurance.
  10. With 3,000 or so people on a ship, having one evacuation every 30 or so cruises wouldn’t be far off from odds of 1 in 10,000 of it happening to me.
  11. Yes, my insurance covers overseas medical. I read somewhere that your odds of needing a helicopter evacuation are something like once in every 10,000 cruises. I decided to take my chances.
  12. I didn’t say anything was free (it’s not), my point was up that if you’ve purchased the package, the drinks are just as free as everything else commonly called free.
  13. A bit smarter in the evening until they’ve had 6-8 pints, then not so much.
  14. My SIL, the insurance agent, tells me you shouldn’t buy insurance if you can afford the loss. I wouldn’t be cruising if I couldn’t afford it.
  15. Just out of curiosity, who’s the “they?” I don’t recall anyone mentioning a tip amount when I called down to have our bags taken to the ship.
  16. Once you’ve purchased the package, the included drinks are as free as the meals, the shows, the cabin, and everything else on the ship which you also purchased.
  17. If you’ve made other, noncancelable, arrangements you should remove yourself from the waitlist.
  18. Whether you should dress for spring depends on where you live. The last several days are going to be spring around UK weather, average high upper 50’s, lows 40’s. Or highs around 15 , lows around 7.
  19. That might be giving some people too much leeway.
  20. Speaking from experience, not every SeaPass card works every time.
  21. I’m not at all sure they let inside cabins bid for Iconic suites. In any case, the inside only gets them $10,000, while you get them $7,000, potentially plus, what a person in a SS bids to MoveUp to a CS, plus what a person in a SV bids to MoveUp to a SS, etc.
  22. Well, if you’re really type A, unless you didn’t change your name when you got married, you should also have your marriage license to tie your drivers license to your birth certificate. Anyway, it couldn’t hurt to take them, but I don’t think there’s any situation where an unexpired passport valid for the duration of the stay would not be acceptable, and just a drivers license and birth certificate would be.
  23. That one hour-ish flight from Leeds to Rotterdam can’t be that bad.
