  1. Super excited about this. I know it is an older ship. However, I am sure they are testing the market. I used to sail Princess often when I lived in Fort Lauderdale but quit sailing them because I moved near Port Canaveral and Iam not a fan of the drive down or the port itself. I think Princess brings a more upscale presence to what is currently in Port Canaveral. Royal Caribbean food has drastically gone downhill and caters to families and Carnival is like a box of cracker jacks...you will get a surprise each time, but you just don't know what it will be. I am confident Princess will be successful and will quickly allow them to bring a new ship shortly after.
  2. Coco Cay closed for Sanitizing and evidently will be until the 10th. (According to a RCCL officer I spoke to)
  3. Update again…even more bizzare news…instead of steaming towards Nassau, we are quickly headed back to Fort Lauderdale for TWO more medical evacs…one of them is a crew member.
  4. Update…now Nassau is in question…waiting for updates…this may wind up being a 4 night cruise to nowhere. Evidently there is a paperwork issue. What a Cluster!!!
  5. Suddenly Freeport is out…we now are headed to Nassau….sea day tomorrow and arrive in Nassau Sunday.
  6. Onboard Mariner of The Seas 4 night to Labadee. We left PC yesterday and the Ship turned around this morning. Currently in Port Everglades for medical emergency. Waiting to hear update from Captain. Pretty sure Labadee is out of the question at this point.
  7. With the latest news out about expansion, so many questions need to be answered. Anyone care to take a guess who will be assigned the proposed new cruise terminal? Personally, I feel it would be awesome to finally get Celebrity or Princess to call PC home. Port Officials say it will be on the southside and it will affect current operations occurring in the proposed spot. There is no further detail provided at the moment. Well, the only thing in the area they are talking about is the Victory Casino cruise in the little terminal 3 which is right next to the new terminal currently used by Mardi Gras. It was also mentioned the Brevard Zoo will be putting in a 100-million-dollar aquarium and nature conservation walking distance from the south terminals. This will huge because outside of restaurants, not much happening for those who want to stay near the ship. Exciting times ahead, especially for locals who do not care for the drive to Miami and Fort Lauderdale.
  8. Clearly you were never stationed on a Carrier. Funny story, I was on a cruise ship off the coast of Cuba a few years back and we had multiple high speed passes by two jets. The passengers on deck started shouting USA , USA...yeah..well..uh...those jets had the Cuban military insignia...
  9. Multiple times on multiple Royal ships I have been charged in the MDR instead of using a voucher. Therefore, I now get a drink and bring it into the dining room to alleviate the problem. Funny story, on my recent Odessey cruise, the waiter asked why I was getting my own drinks and I explained the history. He said it would not be a problem this cruise so just order from the table. I took the bait and ordered a martini, the drink finally came during desert. They brought an apple martini...sigh. The next night I ordered a beer and guess what...they charged me instead of using the voucher. Moral of the story, you want the free drink, stick to the plan, bring a drink with you or don't order one (from the MDR)
  10. ok...one of your above post was about Celebrity...and the OP is talking Royal Caribbean. Another of your posts indicates you put in various other discount options at the same time so you really don't even know for sure what discount was specific to military. I personally put in Military every booking and similar to Phillyfan...it was not a discount which was better than any other offer to a non-military. Simply window dressing. I like what Princess does...gives you $100.00 OBC regardless of what deal you were able to snag. Now that is a real, measurable military discount.
  11. The discount if applicable to your sailing results in a less than minimal savings... more than likely about 50 bucks, lol...probably not worth fretting over....play in the casino...that is where your real savings can occur once you become prime.
  12. The topic is about Coco Cay...a private island in the Bahamas...my response was about Coco Cay and private Islands in the Bahamas...somehow you want to twist it into Europe. The future of cruising the Bahamas and or the Caribbean is private islands ...is that better? Every cruise line has essentially doubled/enhanced their private island portfolio the past few years.
  13. It is a pure beach day and travelers who do not live near a beach will go as often as they can. RCCL gets all the revenue from this stop so it will always be part of future itineraries. This private island thing is picking up steam with most lines now having at least two! For example: Carnival has Princess Cay, Half Moon Cay, Disney- Castaway Cay and Lighthouse Cay, Royal-Labadee, Coco Cay, NCL- Great Stirrup Cay, Harvast Caye. This is the future of cruising...whether we like it or not.
  14. Do you have a friend who can bring an extra bottle onboard? You don't state how many bottles you need? If you need 3, just have someone in your large party bring the extra bottle. Heck just bring the third bottle and make friends standing in the check in line. If you are looking for a money saver deal, they give out free bottles at Next Cruise. There are a few ways you could take advantage of that. Of course, if money is no object, the ship will be more than happy to sell you the headache in a bottle version they offer at an overly inflated price.
  15. Yes...Buffalo Trace is almost impossible to get in Florida. I say if it is a bottle issue...well time to do like they did back in the day with pop bottles...pay a return deposit for each bottle.
  16. I too have been eating conch in the Bahamas for 20+ years...no issues. I have tried it every way you possibly can. I enjoy conch salad the best vs. fried conch but would eat the conch strips over the hush puppy version. I would not waste my time eating it in Florida (except the Keys) as it is usually frozen and tastes like crap. Long story short, it is a Bahamian thing...and worth a try eating it fresh...however don't blame me if you wind up with some kind of colon blowout...
  17. II order a martini straight up versus a shot on the rocks... this assures me of a better pour.
  18. You sit in a chair and they massage your shoulders for about 5 minutes. They tell you how tense you are and advise you to book a full massage with them immediately.
  19. As I mentioned before...onboard purchases billed to your mastercard have not been providing double points...probably because people trying to game the system just as you described....
  20. I am extremely happy with my PVP and consider her a reason I choose Carnival. I have peace of mind knowing I am being taken care of. She always responds to my email or phone message immediately or within an hour. If Carnival did away with the PVP...I will be done with Carnival. Just an FYI, I am not happy Carnival recently pulled a dirty trick by not allowing Guests to hold a room online and then call their PVP to iron discuss and iron out a booking.
  21. If there is a show...I have a balcony seat. When there is no show, I have never had a problem. For the record, I book this type of cabin (as close to the stage as I can) every chance I get.
  22. I was in 6160 and it does have a davit to the left but other than that the view is perfect. Even better is the location, especially if you are Diamond because the lounge is right below you. I heard no noise the entire 8 night cruise. Someone posted a nice you tube video of this room if you want to check it out.
