  1. We were also on that cruise. We agree, the ship was very clean. The only dirty areas we saw were three chairs in three different areas. Every one of them had a blob of something that looked like melted gelato on the seats. But the odd thing is that we saw numerous vacuum cleaners being used in different areas (including inside elevators), but literally the only other cleaning we saw being done during the four days was the glass on the crystal staircase in the piazza, directly in front of guest services. The same glass panel, two different days. Perhaps the cleaners were all working on the behind-the-scenes areas that were mentioned on the inspection report.
  2. I am sorry, I did not see your question in time to check. I looked closely at the three card poker table on embarkation afternoon; the rules were posted, but not the minimum.
  3. I am at Ocean Cay on the Seaside today. Slots have been open all day, table games opened at 1 p.m.
  4. It seems to me that repairing the dishwashers and getting dirty dishes out of the way would make a huge difference.
  5. What will happen next? We are supposed to sail on the Seaside this Sunday, May 7. My guess is that there will be another inspection that day and we can count on a delayed embarkation. What are the chances of the cruise being canceled while there is some intense training and cleaning being done?
  6. We are scheduled to be on the ship on Sunday 😢. I will not count on boarding the ship at the usual time.
  7. I have seen previous daily sheets that show casual/tropical/white night themes, but there didn’t appear to be a formal night.
  8. I believe left side is “yes”, right side is “no”. To be safe, I wrote “Yes” and “No” at the top of the columns (where it should have been printed).
  9. Thank you for the reassuring comments! We have been on numerous cruises on other lines, and I took two 7-night cruises on the Divina in 2014 and loved both of them. But I read the horrible reviews tonight and was getting concerned. I have been praising MSC to my SO for the six years we have been together and don’t want to be proven wrong. I feel better since I have seen the comments in this thread - thanks!
  10. Thank you so much for this! I was on two 7-night cruises on the Divina (and loved it) in 2014, my SO has never cruised on MSC. We will be on the Seaside on May 7. May I ask you a few questions? I did not see a formal night - are all four nights casual? Do we need reservations for shows? We intend to carry on all luggage (two medium, one carryon bag). Are there any problems related to this? What time will cabins be ready? Are the lines for dinner long? Thank you!
  11. Did you use the new online renewal program? I did, was given an estimated timeline of 5-9 weeks, and finally submitted an “assistance with passport” form to my congressman after 11 weeks. I had the passport seven days later. The congressman’s assistant told me that they had helped “dozens and dozens” of people with online passport renewals that had been submitted in December and January (this was the first week in April).
  12. I was on the 6-night eastern Magic last week. Lobster was served on the second formal night (the next-to-last night), Amber Cove. I believe that will be Costa Maya on the western route, the next-to-last night. .
  13. Is it possible to select “cash” instead of “credit card”. then present the credit card at check in?
  14. It is just the two of us, and we were more interested in having a bathroom all to ourselves that no one else ever enters, just like home!
  15. Are there two full bathrooms? I almost booked a two-bathroom cabin a few months ago, until I found out the second bathroom had only a sink and tub, no toilet.
  16. I received an email yesterday for an October 1 cruise. I had to dig deeper into the email to see the other three balcony-related offers. Also, when I look at “My To Do List” in the planner, the offer appears between “pay balance” and “online check-in”. I have a cruise in three days that I would have loved to upgrade, but no offer. I think I received it for the Celebration because I have a desirable cabin (cove balcony) that they could easily sell at a price more than I paid ($400+).
  17. That is good to hear! We’ve been on MG twice, so we immediately knew proximity to the decks where the action is was going to be an asset. We were in the very aft on deck 14 once (sounded like the Bolt ran through our closet, even felt the vibrations) and very forward on an upper deck (close walk to absolutely nothing). I think we may have hit it right with the cove.
  18. I just read this out of curiosity. I would not do specialty dining on the last night because I get tired of eating after the third day or so. The thought of that much food is just not appealing to me by then. Obviously I am in the minority!
  19. I have a cove balcony booked for the first time on the Celebration in October. Yesterday I received an “upgrade offer” (really an upsell) to move to a balcony on a higher deck for $66 or an aft balcony for $236. I am keeping the cove and can’t wait to see what it is like.
  20. I also received upgrade offers for the Celebration today. We are in a cove balcony and were offered an oceanview balcony for $66. Also offered an extended aft balcony for $236. I thought I was going to have a difficult decision to make because I love aft balconies but really want to try a cove balcony. Then I looked at the deck plan. The aft balcony on deck 9 overlooks the pool at Summer Landing on deck 8, guaranteed to be noisy. Check carefully before accepting any upgrade offers!
  21. It sounds like it was working at one time. I waited until we had a long-enough gap in between cruises and it was a mess by then.
  22. Did you mail your renewal applications or use the new online program? I used the online program on January 19 with a 5-9 week timeline given. After 11 weeks of seeing the unchanged statue of “in process”, I submitted a form requesting assistance from my Congressman. I submitted the form on Tuesday, I received a response with further instructions on Wednesday. On Thursday I was emailed a status report, the passport was shipped on Friday, and I received it on Monday. I was told that there are “dozens and dozens” of applicants who submitted online in December and January who have requested and receive help from their Congressmen. My SO mailed his application (first passport, not a renewal) in January. His check was cashed 32 days later, and his status is still “in process”. We will not be requesting assistance for his, as the online program is the one with glitches.
  23. Possibly they think the rest of us will see prices going up and up and quickly book before it gets any worse. Not happening in my house.
  24. I booked the Liberty as a last minute evacuation from Hurricane Ian last September. My win was enough to cover cruise fare, gratuities, internet, and parking, with $35 left over.
  25. The lowest price for a Florida cruise is $679. For three nights. In an inside cabin. Why do they even publish this “sale”?
