  1. I do not believe they are transferable. Yes, instead of $400, you can hold a cruise for one FCD. Eventually you will have to pay the piper. Yes, you get OBC depending on length of cruise and cabin category. For that matter, if they are going to expire, you can 1. ask for it to be extended or 2. apply it like cash to your booking (without additional OBC) or 3. have it fully refunded (without interest). *. FCC is Future Cruise Credit (Princess gives you) * FCD is Future Cruise Deposit (you purchase)
  2. Let's try to be helpful to @travellingnana and not turn this into a "I don't tip" thread. She (I'm just guessing) is looking for suggestions. I don't have a set tipping scale. Room Service is $1 to $5 dependent on how difficult "I" was when placing my order. Ha Ha...I can be crazy sometimes. Room Steward, Head Waiter, and Assistant Manager in dining room is about $20 - $30 per 7 days. Assistant Waiter is half to a little bit more when rounding up. Around the ship. On my last cruise, I gave the IC guy $5 for taking care of my peanut butter cookie fixes. Sometimes, I am more generous if I made money in the casino. $5 - $10 in the specialty restaurants. I do carry around a little bit of cash. It is usually my casino money, but sometimes it is better spent on crew. And I keep the auto crew incentives in place (or how I hate these new terminologies). I bring Macadamia Nuts instead of Dove Chocolates @Ombud.
  3. You ask. The Captain Circle Person has the most accurate number. Sometimes you will get varying numbers from crew. I had a super contact on cruise just before mine who kept me updated.
  4. No need to attend a Muster Station Drill in person. Actually one of the good things about the Medallion. Your television won't start without you first watching the video. Kind of scary to know that you are being "watched".
  5. Both Hilo and Nawiliwili are day time ports. In both ports, the ship needs to turn around to leave (doesn't back in/our). Nawiliwili has a very tricky S turn in order to tie up. Both of these ports are very small towns. They may not have the resources to accommodate an additional 1200 passengers. (You never see two ships in town on the same day.) These are not "technical" answers but might help @chengkp75further explain skipping these ports. In my opinion, why would anyone come for these three stops with so many sea days? In addition, there are 2 tender ports.
  6. If you miss Nawiliwili, try to talk the Captain into a cruise to view the Na Pali Coast. I'd take that over another sea day. Be out on deck for this S turn maneuver. It is a navigational piece of art work. @highloyo got you
  7. Anchoring off of Lahaina with a "small" ship is already an all day event. I can't imagine trying to get off another 1200 passengers (Royal Princess). I ported in Kahului and walked to the Maui Mall to pick up my Maui Potato chips and Guri Guri ice cream. Been there, done that. No need to "explore" Maui. The Aloha Spirit is alive and well. When I could not locate the big bags of Maui Chips, I called their factory. She told me it was several blocks away. I voiced my concern over walking further. She said she would delivery the chips to Maui Mall. I gave her extra for "delivery fee", she returned my change and told me she was glad to do it. @Astro Flyer might have the correct (unsaid) reason for porting in Kahului $$$$. I don't know how much bigger the Royal is than the Grand Class ships, but to miss Hilo and Nawiliwili is really sad.
  8. Out of curiosity, I just check the Royal to Hawaii in November. Kona: Tender Lahaina:; Tender Honolulu: docked overnight No Hilo or Nawiliwili. Guess the Royal is too big for these two ports.
  9. That's my go to meal when I can't find anything else. The pico de gallo is very fresh.
  10. The Lobster Thermidor was really good. I haven't seen it recently.
  11. When it comes to what Princess says on their website or on the app...I don't trust. I bring my passport, my hard copy vaccination card, and printed copy of covid pre-cruise lab results.
  12. Thank you for using my kind of language. Obviously, I am not a foodie but got my point across.
  13. On the Grand (4, 5, 15, 10 day) cruises, I was offered a specialty dish almost every night. They might have skipped a day or two since I was on a low sodium diet and they couldn't accommodate same day prep. Normal pasta with the chili flakes that they did in the MDR before. Something with scallops on top of a pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon. Some fish. Something shrimp. Some kind of steak. Lobster Thermidor on the shorter cruise. Can't remember the rest. A special salad. Desserts include little cookies or whatever you want to call them. You picked the wrong ship. Should have come with me...(inside joke folks).
  14. @highloyo email me at gmail princess with my cc name no spaces. I'll share with you a list of places to eat while in Honolulu.
  15. The Hilo Hattie at Ala Moana Shopping Center is a pitiful token of its flagship store on Nimitz Highway. At one time, Hilo Hatties was the go to store. Thanks for the link to the others.
  16. I have never been, nor will ever cruise, on the Royal Class Ships (Majestic, Royal, Regal, Discovery, Enchanted). I have down a b2b2b (18 days) on the Coral Princess to Alaska (and Panama Canal). She is a beautiful ship with lots of outside viewing platforms. Depending on what your budget is, my first choice would be a balcony. To be specific, B309/B310 or C309/C310. Next I would choose the Plaza Deck for oceanview or interior behind the Art Gallery. She has lots of secret doors that lead to outside viewing areas. On The Bayou is a production show only on the Coral (and maybe the Island). The Coral is small enough to do the inland passage, a beautiful scenic ride. I do believe both go to Glacier Bay, a not to be missed day. The Majestic has new amenities, but, in my opinion, not necessarily improved. Biased, YES !
  17. As I mentioned, there are a few stores that are good to shop at. Village Walk is at risk for not paying their rent during COVID. it is now closed and their lease has been terminated. Foodland Marketplace is an upscale Foodland, very much like Whole Foods. Be careful of their poke. Be sure to eat only the fresh (not frozen) version. Hawaii's sales tax base is lower than most states. AND if you purchase something on sale or with a discount/trade in, you only pay tax on the net difference. Unfortunately, if you order something from the big box store (like a computer, phone, tablet, etc), you also have to pay for shipping. Hawaii is considered a "foreign" destination so much of everything includes a shipping fee. I know, USPS one rate box "should" be the same/equally throughout all states. But I digress. There are still bargains to be found. And I have a secret parking spot that puts me at the doorsteps of Nordstrom Gelato. Suffice it to say that most of the original store at Ala Moana Center are no longer there. But they still have the Center Court noontime entertainment.
  18. Hilo Hattie Lahaina and Hilo Hattie Lihue are still open. Both usually run shuttles. Trust me....Locals don't even go to Ala Moana Center with the exception of Nordstrom's Gelato. It is a very large multi-level outdoor mall. I would say 90% of the mall is either chain restaurants or high end stores. Will your DH be okay with long walks in the warm sun? If you could be more specific what you are "shopping" for, I might be able to guide you in the right direction.
  19. AON provides Princess Insurance. The good is that they don't charge you extra for being old. I find it interesting that Princess will sometimes "help" you out when it increases their revenue. Rarely get any assistance when you want to remove something that will lower your cost. Just saying.
  20. These are all IFsssss: If Lahaina, you will have to tender to shore with a very long wait to get back to the ship, in the sun. Hilo Hatties "might" have a shuttle to their shop arout a mile away. Small shopping area with a McDonald's nearby. If Honolulu, there used to be a Maui Divers shuttle from the port to their design center. As far as I know, this past Spring season, there were no shuttles. If Kona, it is another tender port. I have not heard about shuttles in Kona which Princess has avoided in recent years. But, again. no one really knows what the fall runs to Hawaii will be like.
  21. Princess 800 will also be closed on Sunday. I am not sure if chat will be available. If the credit department was closed today, they will likely be closed tomorrow. I would check online on Sunday to see if your booking is still there. I would call at 8 AM PDT on Monday to reach a customer service rep and plead my case. This disclaimer has been on the Princess.com page for a few days. As @brisaltamentioned, keep trying until midnight. This is why my TA always requires me to make final payment a week in advance. Sections of our website will be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance between 09:00PM PDT on 5/7 and 03:00AM PDT on 5/8
  22. Were they able to retrieve your lost contact? How safe was it to put back into your eye?
  23. You do not need to have belt loops. It will clip on to a pocket, waist band, bra strap, anywhere that is accessible. It is always hidden under my shirt. Also doubles as a mask holder when in the MDR.
  24. @Mike & ZenCompliments to the photographer. Your photos are clear and can be enlarged enough to actually clearly read writings. I was never able to get a good photo of the officers' board.
  25. You last sentence says it all.
