  1. When there are room changes, Princess will note the folio and everyone will know where all passengers are. Plus they have the medallion tracking everyone. This is a long shot alternative. I'm sure, in the long run, not being next to each other is not really an issue.
  2. That is just not right (#5). Thank you for verification from Princess Guest Relations. As far as the 6 mini-bars with the Plus Package, you could make some crew very happy with re-gifting the liquors and drinks. After all, you will also receive 2 bottles of water every day. I always ask my crew what liquors they prefer and exchange accordingly. With the above $5 statement, that means you could "technically" be charged $5 x 6 minibar calls to room service to exchange your choices.
  3. One full day in Honolulu would be enough for most passengers. Skipping Hilo would be a no go for me. The Discovery (and any Royal Class ship) is too big a ship for a Hawaii cruise. There are, at least, 10 sea days,. That's a lot of passengers STUCK on a ship. The Discovery would be crowded with no where to go. I like the Grand Class ships for this reason. Still very crowded. In addition, the Royal Class ships have no promenade nor enough public spaces to accommodate everyone on a sea day. I wonder where they would hold ukulele and hula classes since the Royal Class ships don't have a Club Fusion or Wheelhouse????
  4. It all depends if the device is dual voltage. A maintenance supervisor once explained...most times...if it has one of those big "box" between the unit and the plug, that it is "probably" dual voltage. Look at the tags/labels. Most medical devices are. ALL Apple devices are (except maybe the watch). Most Anker products are. If not, yes, you will need a converter as well as an adapter unit.
  5. Plus $50 is a great price. To upgrade to Premier is $30 per day/per person. Plus $60 will get you room service/ocean view and casual dining. Is an additional $20 x 2 per day worth 2 specialty dining, one photo, and reserved seating? A photo, I think, is $25.
  6. Once Princess assigns a stateroom, they really don't care. You will have to camp out by the old room. Maybe even print out a nice offer and slide it under the door or tape it to the door. It's a long shot. Hope you get there before they start to settle in. These passengers probably booked a guarantee and thrilled to have a nice location. Offering to "switch" to an upgraded room for free might just do it. This is just how I think.ass Having Princess make this switch is too complicated for Princess. They would have to contact inventory department to do any passenger switching. I never understood why they don't just skip the folks who mark NO UPGRADE and give the upgrade to the guarantee passenger. Makes no sense to me.
  7. I went on Pride of Aloha with my daughter/husband on their honeymoon (haha). Took my former mother-in-law and my other daughter/husband. They did take a "formal" honeymoon to France and England a bit later.
  8. You could always offer the upgrade to the person who took your daughter’s cabin. I’m sure they would be happy to move. Getting medallions reprogrammed will not be an issue.
  9. I'd switch with daughter and take her upgrade. They will probably be happy having some distance between the two of you (unless she is a youngster). (half joking). With the medallion, you will know where each other is. Just be sure to link (aka friend) the names.
  10. I was suppose to be on a cruise with my 2 sisters. They had to cancel. After being on a 15 day cruise with a friend, this solo b2b was just what I needed. I enjoyed the quiet time to myself. I actually met a really nice lady who also was traveling by herself (husband cancelled days before embarkation). We hit is off well and enjoyed spending some time together. You will meet others and enjoy family time. But your stateroom will be your quiet haven...unless you have a better stateroom and everyone wants to hang out with you there.
  11. I always thought they overnighted in Kahului? They did about 15 years ago. Their two overnight ports were/are Maui and Nawiliwili. They dropped Maui altogether from August 12 to the end of the month (overnighting in Hilo and an extra overnight (3 days/2 nights in Nawiliwili. No further announcements yet on changes to September itinerary. (Ref: Travel Weekly 8/11/23).
  12. Hilo is a daytime port. Ships need to come and go during natural light hours. But it would be awesome if they did an overnight AND the volcano decided to put on a show. Otherwise, the town sort of rolls up their sidewalks after dark. Given the extra hours, they could also do a run up to the Mauna Kea Observatory for a night sky option. Expensive and cold, but would be so worth it for people who do not have problems with altitude.
  13. I haven't had "coffee" on a Princess ship since the restart (except for a Latte with Suite breakfast). This must be some good coffee with all the raves. Is it on the Caribbean Princess yet? Is it served in the MDR or only the buffet? Oh, how I miss the coffee card.
  14. Resurrecting this thread. I was able to get into using the web archive link. I am not sure what happened to Tom, but his work is still valuable. https://web.archive.org/web/20200507004112/https://www.tomsportguides.com/port-guides.html Just give it time to load (looks like an error message). Just wait for it. Thank you Tom, wherever you are.
  15. I would wait for an official invoice from Princess stating a change of ports/schedule. I'd much prefer to overnight in Hilo than Honolulu. Not sure that is possible since there may not be enough berths for 2 ships to be in the harbor at the same time.
  16. Cruises have been cancelled because something has been left in the cart/unpaid after final payment. This could have been a serious issue. Glad it resolved itself. You did the right thing to be concerned @Scirocco Breeze
  17. I was in isolation in a balcony cabin. I can't imagine there would be more outlets in a mini-suite. There was a set of outlets at the desk AND an outlet behind the television. There are no USB ports on the lamps. Best to bring some kind of non-surge protected multi-device charger. There will also be European plugs by the head of the bed/night stand. You would need an adapter (not a converter) if you are using medical devices and/or Apple devices that are dual voltage. The adapter should have two outlets. One for the lamp, one for your device.
  18. Process of elimination. Not a Royal Class ship (not going to catch me on one of those). It has a round display case between the IC and Good Spirits. Don’t think it was the Caribbean. I understand that short term memory is the first to decline. It’s all a blur. I do know that I am not imagining this. I commented to a friend that these cakes reminded me of the ones they serve at Claim Jumpers. Who would want to eat the whole slice.
  19. Also excludes insurance and beverage package. They would be reimbursed for one night. Documentation is required to file a claim. If they just reported it and did not visit the Medical Center for verification, they may be out of luck.
  20. There is no reason to go past the neck of Maui. Nothing to see and do in West Maui as that side of the island rebuilds their lives. If ships return to Kahului, there will be excursions for whale watches out of Ma’alaea Harbor, Marine Center, Iao Needle, Upcountry, road to Hana, diving at Molokini Crater, Haleakala, etc. The problem I foresee is how to prevent the “curious” from entering an area that is now considered a sensitive area. I will give passengers the benefit of the doubt. Even is Princess doesn’t provide a disclaimer, most passengers have heard of the disaster and are aware there will be no tendering in Lahaina.
  21. Been on too many cruises this year. Maybe the Emerald? Grand?
  22. Now I am more confused than ever. Sigh
  23. Thank you for pointing that out. I am hoping for the best, but considering this is Princess, I am prepared for the battle. I'm generally the rose colored glaases Polly Ana, but lately have been a doubting Thomas.
  24. So where are they hiding the cakes? On the Diamond (I think), they were in the circular display case in the IC. But the Island doesn't have an IC.
