  1. My card was charged immediately. I was with the FCC in person. I picked up the print out the next day. My TA did not get notice and when she tried to book my sister, Princess could not see the FCDs. Luckily, my TA had a photo of the print outs with the codes. I never checked with my sister to see if she received an email. Longer story. Funny though, I received emails for my cabin mate’s purchase. That was in error. No way should I have been sent her confirmations. Inly can speak to what happened to me. Glad I could do it. Glad to have the printouts. It was eventually resolved. All is good.
  2. For most of Princess ships (no one knows for sure about the Sun): Insides have bunk beds attached to the wall / lower beds in twin configuration. Ocean View (non existent in Royal Class ships and above) and balcony cabins "usually" have bunk beds that drop down from the ceiling. To access bunk beds, lower beds need to be in twin configuration. Mini-Suites/suites will have a sofa bed that sleeps one (maybe two small children). It will usually have a bunk bed that drops down from the ceiling over the lower beds. Again...access to bunk beds need twin configuration. I have not been on a Royal Class ship, but do recall (don't hold me to this), that a bunk bed may come down over the sofa instead.
  3. bummer. You would think that one of Princess' goals is to reduce waste. How many order but never eat an entire pizza?
  4. I much prefer the nostalgia of the "Historic" locks (Island/Coral) for both the ship (Coral) and the experience.
  5. This "seems" to be the same process as an upgrade bid for more money. You are subject to price of upgrade at time of service (which could be much higher due to demand). Also, you may not have the opportunity to decline waitlist upgrade. Princess may upgrade you, AND put your original cabin back into inventory. You may not be able to retrieve old cabin and then "stuck" with wherever Princess decides to assign.
  6. Yes, you can....But you will not be given OBC for the FCD. It will be considered as a $100 credit payment to your booking. Defeats the purpose of using a FCD for OBC. I am not crazy about the new expiration dates. Must be used within 1 year of purchase date or will be refunded. I have extended 2 and 4 year FCDs. Not sure this new 1 year one can be extended. Doesn't much matter to me. I have many on the books and cruise at least once a year. YES, you may purchase (or have someone purchase) FCDs on a cruise for someone else. You need their Captain Circle Number. It is treated very differently. If you purchase one for yourself while on a cruise, it shows up almost instantaneously. If you purchase it for someone else, there are channels by which it must go through. You are charged right away, but it may not show up for weeks on their account. Be sure to request a hard copy of the transaction that shows the transaction number.
  7. Is it the pizza that is charged? What if: I have lunch with someone who has a Plus or Premier package, orders a pizza (no cost), and shares it with me. Will there be a split charge? Per Person charge?
  8. Let's do a twist to Princess' "reasoning". You are getting more for your package. How about having a check list. I don't want this, I don't want that. Please remove x $$$ from my package. Let's see: Caribbean Princess doesn't have an Alfredo's/Gigi's, Kai Sushi, Maybe Planks and Steamers/Salty Dog Bistro. I don't want the desserts. I don't go to the gym classes. Princess has me paying full price (credit) for Elite 50% off internet. I think 25% off for being elite is a fair price. AND OH....I'm in a suite so room service should be free. Logistical NIGHTMARE (aka Sheldon Cooper).
  9. To all that replied. I was so confused since every time I've filed for and credited SOBC, gratuities have always been deducted. I should learn to read the fine print. I "knew" (aka Sheldon Cooper) that it was "not" to be used in the casino (please do not reply....rhetorical statement). Glad I "used" all of my last SOBC for a visit to the Medical Center. Hopefully, I will have it reimbursed through insurance without interest for the few months I have to wait.
  10. Since when is it not good for gratuities? And what does “charges” mean? Isn’t everything charged to your folio? Guess I missed post #484 Thanks
  11. If they are no longer combinable for one person, but can have individual OBC.... Does that mean that 2 unrelated passengers EACH receive OBC for shareholder? It is allowed for both to have military.
  12. Yes, it is an overnight port in Quebec. Yes, you can board at that time. (I read/Can't remember where) Manned Embarkation hours are available up to 9 PM or 10 PM. After that... FOUND IT...under itinerary port information: Thu, 10/19/23 Quebec City, Canada View general port information Overnight Check In 1:00pm-9:00pm Need more information? Email: croisieres@portquebec.ca https://www.portquebec.ca/en/cruises/information-for-cruise-ship-passengers/customer-service The terminal will be open all night. You will be responsible for your own luggage. In August, gangway was on deck 6/starboard. Same level as Customer Service Desk. There are elevators and escalators in the terminal. Will you have your Medallion in hand? In the afternoon, the gangway was a downward slant to the ship. In the morning, it was pretty even. It's a good size terminal. There will be security 24 hours to guide you to the right place. I saw passengers leave at all hours of the night/morning ... dragging their luggage without any assistance. The airport is not as close to the port as I had anticipated. VERY small airport. I purchased a ship to airport Princess Transfer. Best $29 I ever spent. Have you joined our Roll Call yet?
  13. After the fires in Lahaina and the hurricane/earthquakes in California, I am so happy that you put your fur baby first. Princess will always have a cruise for you to plan. Your priorities are in the right place. Please keep us updated on FCC. Many of us have similar situations and look forward to your time line.
  14. This will never happen to me since I won't be on a Royal Class ship anytime soon. But...Is it still complimentary? So happy for you. Congratulations.
  15. @Steelers36 I count on members like you to keep me informed. I may have read it (but forgotten). Or used my Evelyn Woods Reading techniques to speed read through the dozens of posts...and quickly put it out of my mind "I read it!". Or was too lazy to read the pages and pages that just confuse me more. AND I do have one of those wooden nickels too. Thank you all for making sure that I am supported in my posts and assured that all the time I spend on Cruise Critic is productive. AND yes, I did catch the posts 51 and 16.
  16. Please help me out here. I have recently booked 3 cruises for 2025. All were booked before the new "enhancements" were announced. Each bought at $60 per person per day. Each do not include the new enhancements. $60 Plus current old package: Everything from before plus juice bar, desserts, and gym classes. Missing are the 3 new enhancements (Casual Dining/Ocean Now/Room Service). Both packages are $60 per person per day. So how do I go about getting the old replaced by the new? The old package is listed in my personalizer. I've asked my travel agent. She didn't know, and it was not important enough for me to pursue this...yet. I will inquire on my next cruise (without any packages). I suspect she would need to cancel old package and add new package for no additional charge. I am letting the dust settle since no one seems to have a definitive answer to how this all works.
  17. Your bid does not guarantee a specific cabin. You will be at the mercy of whatever is available when they accept your bid. IF...IF...there are other Reserve Mini's available, you can call your TA or Princess and see if they will move you to another stateroom. Princess recently changed their policy. IF...IF...they accept your bid, it is automatically charged to your credit card and is irreversible.
  18. So glad your family left Las Vegas early. At 11 am, the 15 was shut down near Barstow when lightning downed a power pole. Hope it opens by Monday for those leaving the Emerald Princess and heading East.
  19. Which ships are you comparing the Ruby to? Same itinerary? Island or Coral (always more expensive). Full transit?
  20. You wrote a very informative summary. It looks like you have the Princess Plus 50. It was the older package that you purchased at $50 / pp/pd. I believe the PP$60 started sometime near February 2022. The new package was just announced, after your final payment was made. If you did purchase the older package at $60/pp/pd, then I don’t know what you have to do to upgrade. I’m in the same boat…booked 3 cruises under the Plus 60 but the older one. Currently, there are three very confusing Plus packages. 1. $50 a day that doesn’t include the desserts and gym classes. 2. $60 a day that doesn’t include the enhancements (casual dining/delivery/room service) 3. $60 a day is the latest pricing (new within the month)
  21. Welcome to Princess. The corporation is going through some major growing pains. There are still a few good things that are happening on Princess. 1. Dress code has smart casual and formal nights. There are threads and threads with opinions. Bottom line, it is up to the Assistant Dining Room Manager to decide if he/she will allow you in without a coat and tie. Many have said that the dress code has been more relaxed. I don't dress up anymore. A basic black dress is all I take. 2. How badly do you want a particular time and date for Specialty Dining? It can be difficult to get an early dining reservation. It is also possible to get your money refunded if you change your mind. Some days are more booked than other. Be sure to take a screen shot and print out your reservation receipt. 3. You do not book shows for any of the entertainment venues. If you purchased the Premier Beverage Package, there will be rows of seats held for you up to 15 to 5 minutes before production shows. I was recently on the Caribbean. The 7:30 show was full by 7 PM. A little easier (not by much) to attend the 9:30 show. 4. I found boarding in FLL to be a zoo. Will you have your Medallion in hand? Queue for security before you are divided up into have and have nots. Boarding is by. priority/loyalty standings. Others have said that you can pretty much walk on by 12/12:30. Doors open around 10:30. Boarding commences around 11. The Main Dining Room is open for a nice leisurely lunch. As long as you get to the MDR by 1:30, you will seated. 5. I can not speak of differences since I have not been on RCCL at all. As much as I complain about the changes, I still enjoy the quiet/relaxed atmosphere on a Princess ship. What made you decide to try Princess?
  22. Actually saw it as a menu choice on the CB. I wonder how many think this is acceptable????
  23. I hope you made it home without too many obstacles. Steady rain has picked up (I live between you and the port). 2:43 PM Earthquake...so cal. Wow
  24. Thanks. This is a current photo of my backyard when I was growing up. Wish I had that house now. We spent a lot of time over the summers and weekends there as my dad developed the West end of Oahu.
