  1. Thank you! That explains why they looked so similar in Tenerife. ☺️
  2. If it is far enough in advance, we just go for the refund. We would rather have our money to spend as we wish. During Covid, the airline cancelled our Europe flight, and Delta changed our domestic flight by enough that we were able to have them both refunded, too. And then they continued to cancel other deposited cruises (with options). (lost out on double points) And we just took refunds on everything., Our opinion of RC has dropped considerably.
  3. Congratulations! What an exciting invitation. Looking forward to your impressions. ☺️
  4. This is true Harry. I had never met the gentleman; Uncle Glenn before, did not know he was residing across the Bay for all those years. And never saw him again. The Bakersfield relatives are now like third cousins. So, we don't see them either. ☺️
  5. Yes. Our room steward showed us how to put a bath towel through the empty hangers, so they don't clack together. We have used their tip ever since. It is especially bad on the last night with all the empty hangers.
  6. This always so much cracks me up Harry. πŸ˜„ My mom had some relatives down in Bakersfield. I was about 25 when we stayed down there and had a family dinner. This kind, elderly gentleman arrived and introduced himself as my Uncle Glenn, and of course went on to say that he hadn't seen me since I was about 3 years old. It seems to be that standard thing that distant relatives always say. πŸ˜„ After he left, I asked a different aunt where Glenn had been all these years? She said, "Oh, he was in San Quentin, honey." I said, "You mean like the death row prison, up near where we live? Why?" Aunt said, "He killed a BAD man." I am looking at my mom this whole time. <She shrugged> Because, of course, no one in our family would ever kill a good, regular person. LOL. πŸ™„ And apparently, he was a trustee at the farm/garden. I never knew. And we did not ever visit. I don't know. It was something that happened after the war. (WWII) Some military beef that carried over. He was mom's BIL's brother. It always makes me laugh when you say that. ☺️☺️
  7. It is prime time for grey whales. And there has been a locally famous pod of Eastern Tropical Pacific Orcas hanging out near San Diego and south, feeding on dolphins.
  8. Welcome to Cruise Critic. That is a bad itinerary change. It is not surprising that Lahaina is out, but they could have replaced it with single days in Hilo and Kona. Isn't Napali just a sail by, (Sea Day)? Which ship were you booked on?
  9. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/are-beach-pool-towels-provided-onboard If you returned all checked-out towels but still received a charge, please call our Post Cruise department at 800-256-6649 for further review.
  10. I'm not a big football fan, but I watched the 49'ers/Packers game yesterday, and the Chiefs/Bills game today. And then Bill was all of a sudden interested, of course. πŸ™„ They were both good games. Kind of thrilling with the back and forth and low point spread. All four teams were playing really, really well. It will be interesting to see who makes it to the final two. And it looks like another lackluster Super Bowl halftime. ☺️ We are packing to move. I seriously pared down the number of books. But it is still a lot, and they are way too heavy. I still haven't made it over to the small, and full closet in the spare room. Article said, the average home has 200,000 items. Even with tossing/donating/selling all kinds of things, I am starting to believe it. πŸ™„
  11. From what I have read on here, they make them available to everyone sometimes. Enjoy! ☺️
  12. We don't even bother taking pre-boarding photos anymore. It just takes a second at check in and they always seem to retake them. On our last cruise the ship boarding person, didn't even like my terminal taken photo, so they took it a second time. ☺️
  13. I can highly recommend Rima Beach World in St. Maarten for shopping. You can spend hours there, and they have tons of things, souvenirs, and beachwear clothing...all reasonably priced. You will probably have to take a cab to get there, (it is quite aways downtown) but it is a fun store. I think we walked back. https://rimasxm.com/. Well, I *think* we walked back. We made it about three quarters of the way back. And I was way too hot. A lady cab driver stuck her head out the window and offered to take us back to the ship for $5. I jumped in immediately. Bill was confused, I just told him to get in. ☺️
  14. Especially since you will be boarding at the Pan-Am pier, not the pier in Old San Juan.
  15. I love your trip photos and commentary, Harry! There is something strangely interesting and compelling about seeing other people's vacation photos on the computer. When we first signed on to the internet in 1994, with Netscape on our Compaq computer, the first thing we looked at...was a stranger's vacation photos to Mexico. And then for several years, we received emails and vacation photos from movie director, Hal Needham. We didn't actually know Mr. Needham, but it was fascinating to see him and his family and all of the interesting places they vacationed. I did finally write to him and tell him that we were not the intended recipient. 😊
  16. Isn't that a weird feeling? Walking in sand after hip replacements feels like your legs are getting sucked off. I can't do dry sand anymore. Wet sand is okay. And I know what you mean about getting knocked over by the surf! Quite the surprise, the first time it happened. Boom! I was down and clutching the sand as the wave went out. I stood up and was immediately knocked down again. I had so much sand in my bathing suit, I could have made my own beach. I asked my hip surgeon about it, because it was so unexpected. He said, didn't I mention that? We kind of destroyed your core muscles, when we put the replacements in. I said, No. And can I get them back with exercise? He replied, Hmm. No. Probably not. 😊
  17. Wow! That is beautiful. And heavy. 😊 (Your curtains look like our curtains...with kitty rub marks all over them πŸ˜„) That is interesting about the granite. Amazing how they can do that. Thanks.
  18. I'm curious. If granite is a natural stone, how can they tell that your countertop will look like the showroom sample? It is really pretty. Do they just have a lot of quarried pieces with the same brown veining in them? We just went with quartz, so I'm not sure how it works with stone. Yours almost looks like marble.
