  1. Great advice from everyone...yes, pack smart and light. Just reminiscing...fond memories of my backpacking trip all over Europe almost 40 years ago...a Eurail pass, a Frommer's guide book, and a passion for travel. * Glad I took high school French and learned a bit of Spanish working along side migrant workers picking fruits as a teen. * Couchettes...I slept on the top bunk bed (yes, 2nd class, 6 bunks)...Paris to Nice...the other bunk beds were empty, until woman came in and took the top bunk bed directly across me. She spoke French (which I couldn't translate)...next thing I see, she takes all her clothes off and went to sleep...fond memories.
  2. If you are thinking of the Navigator, 4- night Catalina Island and Ensenada cruise...it may be a bit chilly by the pool. * They do have blankets they hand out on deck 12 by the pool...and another option is the Solarium, there's a small pool and 2 jacuzzis..always nice and toasty there.
  3. Same here...we've always paid the same tips as "regular" cabins when in a JS. * Galveston Cruiser, please kindly come back...was there a recent change?
  4. Also choice of pillows and upgraded beddings. (Possible upgraded bathroom toiletries/amenities if you ask your cabin steward) * Not really that important, but you get a different color seapass card. And your tips per person per day is still the same as non-suites.
  5. Many years ago, on the Navigator, we had a weather delay...a hurricane also known as a "medicane" because it was in the Mediterranean. We had to overnight in Barcelona...no one complained.........the Captain announced on the PA system that "ALL DRINKS WILL BE FREE, TO ALL PASSENGERS FOR 2 HOURS".....I don't remember what happened after that.
  6. This is a picture of our fridge/cooler on the Voyager...not sure if this is the same size on the Wonder.
  7. Congratulations! Random thoughts...for first time cruiser on your honeymoon: * Join the "Love and Marriage show"...it's a hoot. * If you prefer a table for 2 (for dinner in the main dining room), you can email rcldining@rccl.com and send your request about 2 weeks before your cruise. * Don't miss the ice show...outstanding...one of the best. * For first time cruisers, the amount of food selection can overwhelming...you need to at least try the Main Dining Room. But as "foodies", you can do the 3 specialty restaurant package. * Places to eat on the Navigator...Windjammer, Main Dining Room, El Loco Fresh, Cafe Promenade...all these are included. Then for extra charge...Chops (steak), Jamie's (Italian), Hooked (seafoid), Izumi (sushi), Playmakers, Johnny Rockets, and Bamboo Room...also Starbucks and Ben & Jerry's you'll have to pay for. There is free soft serve ice-cream on deck 12, by the pool. * There's also "Chef'sTable"...nice menu with wine pairing(s)...extra charge for this diinner. * As said earlier...if you can't make it out of your cabin...there's always room service. * If you have specific questios about the Navigator, just ask...we'll be onboard on Monday.
  8. Yes! I was just about to write it...the huge end of season sale! Discovered it a few years ago. The stores had scarves, gloves, and hats for a dollar. The stores told us they wanted to sell all the old inventory and have new stuff for the next season. * Weather: once we had unseasonably warm weather. On our most recent "end of season" Alaska cruise, this year...it rained every day...and fog, so no Northern Lights visible.
  9. ...and the sail-away from San Francisco...with views of the city of one side, Sausalito on the other... close-up views of Alcatraz and Angel Island...then sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge, with the fog rolling in...is quite simply, breathtaking. * "I left my heart in San Francisco". Fond memories...spent lots of weekends enjoying Angel Island in the late 60's and early 70's.
  10. What are the current reduced Elite benefits? * Apologies for asking. It has been many years since our last Princess cruise...Happy Thanksgiving.
  11. Santorini and Mykonos...yes, you can explore after your excursion and catch the RC tender back later.
  12. We did exactly that same itinerary on the Odyssey earlier this year. (DIY excursions at each port.) Your plan is doable...and as you said, you have been to Rome, so you will decide how exhaustive it will be. Sounds like you know your way around Italy. * Agree with everyone about spending a bit more time in Florence/Tuscany.(During my first visit to Florence almost 40 years ago, I wish I had spent more time inside the Uffizi Museum.)
  13. After visiting Monaco/Monte Carlo, I got back on the train...short ride along the coast, south of Nice...a small museum. (Being a retired senior citizen now. I may have to get help from Google .) * Art is a hidden passion. My family knows me as a die-hard sports fan...what most of them don't know is I've visited a few (ok, more than a few), of the world's best museums. My obscure knowledge of paintings and artist only comes out during trivia.
  14. Quantum of the Seas is a wonderful ship...we love the IFly, Northstar, and Flowrider (may be too cold but worth a try if it's warm in Seattle). You have the indoor Seaplex with basketball court doubling as the floor for bumper cars. And the Solarium is fabulous...with great views of the Alaskan wilderness. A few other notes: * Clothing - layering is best. We've been to Alaska when it was unseasonably warm, when if was snowing, and this past September...it rained everyday. Happy sailing!
  15. Brought back some fond memories... Almost 40 years ago, I was backpacking through Europe...got off the train in Nice...it was almost 1am and I was too cheap to stay at a hotel...decided to sleep on that rocky beach. I woke up surrounded by topless women...I thought I died and went to heaven. * my apologies to the OP...just wanted to share my story.
  16. Love the IFly...also the Northstar, virtual trampoline, and bumper cars. * Take the time and enjoy the artwork around the ship...you can easily miss it (I'm guilty).
  17. ...and on the Smphony, it's a Suite Lounge next to Coastal Kitchen...deck 17 I think. (There's the "piano stairs" you can enjoy on the way up or down.)
  18. If you are doing b2b, or b3b, or more...and complete the survey immediately after the first sailing...we've had crew members actually thank us (when they see us the second week), for mentioning their names. It meant a lot to them. * The crew told us that getting a good review and their names mentioned could help them promoted, perhaps a better assignment, get a few hours off, free shore excursion, or free dinner at a specialty restaurant.
  19. We do as well. And every once in a while, we do play a few spins and cashed out more money. * We give it back as tips.
  20. We had a tablemate who was a recent cancer survivor...RCCL gave her (and her husband), a complimentary dinner at Chops. No announcements, no fuzz, just a nice quiet gesture.
