  1. Propose early...then the rest of the week will be your honeymoon.
  2. Yes, we remember having sushi in the Windjammer...way before Izumi. We would eat sushi as appetizers before heading to the MDR. Our waiter would ask why we were eating so light. * Celebrity, back in the day, served outstanding sushi in the buffet...no specialty restaurants back then.
  3. Go and try Izumi and let him be the judge. * I politely ask the sushi chef for very specific sushi or sashimi...almost always accomodated.
  4. Ken, sorry we just missed you...we also boarded the Voyager yesterday...E. * Won $130 in the casino last night (slot machine) .
  5. Taking something not belonging to you is just flat out wrong. * On the Odyssey, my wife and I were having our pictures taken on deck 4, Royal Esplanade...when my wife saw a man "take" her crossover pouch containing her phone and seapass card. I ran over to confront the man...(a few eloquent words were exchanged between me and this man)...and got my wife's pouch back. He's ******* excuse was: " I was taking it to guest services"....seriously?
  6. Sounds like you had a great time..just hoping less kids. As you said and if you can... - Cruise when kids are in school. - Longer cruises = less kids. - Spring Break = older, livelier kids. Back in the day, cruising was mostly for us old people...fast forward to today and ships are multi-generational. Grandparents, parents can enjoy the ships with their children and grandchildren. Oasis class ships tend to attract a much younger crowd...even in the Caribbean. You are young and it was your first cruise...you'll have fun trying many of the other cruiselines. That's what we did when we were much younge...we loved Celebrity. (Crazy to think that we sailed on Celebrity Mercury 4 times...beautiful ship, great service and great food.) When family, friends, and relatives started cruising with us...we started sailing with Royal Caribbean. * Years from now, those of us that cruised immediately after the re-start, will fondly reminisce about the less than full capacity sailings...sigh.
  7. Just additional information... Danger can be anywhere. We sailed from Venice to Dubai. While sailing near the Somalia coast, we had armed security onboard...and had "Pirates Drill".
  8. Love your list...brought back a lot of fond memories...yes, much younger and didn't know any better...sigh. A few things I can remember: - Hitting golf balls out into the ocean from the top deck...looking at my picture, they put a harness around my chest in case I fall off. - Yup, I tried skeet shooting...crazy. - Gosh, those exposed pipes leaked and my dad ended up with a free cruise. (May he rest in peace.) - Ice carvings...huge blocks of ice carved by the pool. - And don't forget the extremely intricate and detailed food carvings...midnight buffets were nice, but IMHO wasteful. - Sommeliers in the dining room. - Chocolates placed by your pillows in the evening. - Used to own a tux...happy not to have to bring it...* although, I must admit, the formal pictures looked impressive then compared to today. - Clothing optional...who remembers walking around and finding this spot on the ship? Ok, I better stop...but just one more. - What about those thick packages mailed to you containing all your cruise documents, fancy luggage tags, and seemingly unending cruise brochures. Happy to still be cruising with my beautiful and wonderful wife.
  9. Vjmatty...I was slow typing when you posted.
  10. Politely... - We were able to purchase the "return" tickets at the same time...while still at the ticket booth in Naples. We had our return tickets before arriving Capri. - What ship? Where were you docked? We must've gotten lucky...we were on the Odyssey and it was literally next door to the ferry...a 5 - minute walk.
  11. Difficult question...here's my humble opinion... - If this will be your first time eating at CK, please by all means try it. Being in a suite...it is a perk...come back and let us know how you liked or not liked it. - Dining package? If you get the UDP, you'll be doing what we do...skip CK and make sure we try all the specialty restaurants. - What do we like more? It will always be the specialty restaurants...but, - We love Coastal Kitchen...we always look forward to our favorite dishes...e.g. the first night, CK will have the filet mignon...outstanding...IMHO, even better than Chops. - Bottom line: All the answers here will differ...food, and even the venue can be very subjective. Opinions and experiences will be different...all correct. * Tip: Just like anywhere else you eat on the ship, just let your server know if there's something wrong with your food.. e.g. when pork belly is on the menu, we politely ask our waiter for "extra crispy" pork belly...the staff at CK will do their absolute best to accomodate you. Happy sailing.
  12. We were on the Odyssey and DIY'd to Capri...really easy. - Got off the ship just after 8am...the ferry and ticket booths are only a 5- minute walk from the cruise terminal. - Most of the early tickets were sold out. The tickets available were still early enough for us...we got the 9:30am departure. - They will ask you what time you'd like to return and we told them around 1pm...we got the 1:40pm return ticket. - Yes, you can purchase both tickets at the same time. 21.70 Euros and 19.20 Euros...not sure why tickets were priced differently. - About 8:40am, a queue started forming for our ferry. The ferry arrived and we boarded around 9:10am. - It took approximately an hour to the island of Capri. There's a restauant/bar on the ferry...and restrooms . - When we arrived in Capri, we took the funicular up to the main square, 2 Euros/person/each way. - The views from the top were simply breathtaking. - We had plenty of time for our truly memorable visit...and had time to walk around the streets by the dock...then waited for our return ferry sitting by the beautiful (rocky/pebbles) beach. - We were back on the Odyssey with plenty of time to spare.
  13. I'm grinning from ear to ear...thanks...retired fleo.
  14. True story... We were having a drink at Playmakers (JR is just across the boardwalk on the Symphony), a family next to us wondered loudly if they can use their vouchers at JR...so I thought, hmmmm someone on Cruise Critic will want to know. So I went, and they were happy to accept the vouchers. When I finally got my chocolate and strawberry milkshakes...I handed him a couple of dollars for tip and started walking out. He politely stopped me and handed me a receipt to sign. * I have never received a receipt for alcoholic drinks, so this caught me by surprise. I walked back to Playmakers, as happy as can be with the 2 milkshakes and gave tbe receipt to my wife...she said sarcastically with rolling eyes, "You do realize you just used a $13 voucher for a $5 milkshake?".....ooops
  15. Thanks!!! Hope we can find.. will it be clearly marked and near the Orientkaj metro station. Thanks again.
  16. Just happy to have the Navigator in California...we waited over 10 years for Royal to come back.
  17. We used our vouchers for shakes at JR on the Symphony...no problems. * IMHO, what a waste of vouchers.
  18. Holy canoli!!!...SummerBeee, we've flown to just about 90% of all our cruises...don't even want to think how much we've spent on airfare...but not complaining. Life is short...we love to travel...just happy to be cruising again. Responded recently (Ask a cruise question - New Cruisers) to a question on farthest embarkation we had to fly to...here's a few we've done: - San Francisco to Istanbul. - SF to Sydney. - SF - Beijing (Tianjin) - SF to Dubai. - SF to Bangkok (Laem Chabang) -SF to Argentina - SF to Santiago, Chile...relatively short flight but got stuck in traffic for 7 hours on the way to the port. - SF to Venice, Rome, Barcelona, Amsterdam, London, and next week to Copenhagen. * I've never worn my Pinnacle pin.
