  1. The regular Chase Sapphire Preferred is a much lower annual fee. Points can be cashed out, used as a statement credit, used to book travel through their web site, transferred to their travel partners (I do this with Southwest), and if you use the card on Amazon, use the points directly from their web site to pay for/toward your orders.
  2. Chase Bank's Sapphire cards are what I like. Page 30. Chase Sapphire Preferred Benefit Guide 2022.pdf
  3. Skyjo: fascinating and challenging. Easy to pack: 7.64 x 3.98 x 1.38 inches YOUR GOAL: Try to get as few points as possible through flipping, trading and collecting cards over the course of several rounds. This is only possible as long as a player has not uncovered all his cards, because then ends a round. So beware, keep a close eye on the game and be cautious and wary of the other player's actions! You have to watch all the other face-up cards as well as keep track of your own.
  4. We had this happen to us on a westward TA in October once. Even the captain on his noon talks thought it was eerie and kinda creepy. I now know what the old seagoing word "doldrums" means.
  5. That's why I Iike the smaller ships: to me the inside passage is the only way to go. I live on the West Coast, and it's rocky all along the entire left side of this continent from Ensenada up to Alaska. I've sailed in and out of San Pedro, San Diego, Seattle, and Vancouver, and I live in the SF Bay Area. It's just rocky sailing the first or last day of a cruise. That's also why I am not interested in the West Coastal cruises, too.
  6. My Nat-Geo is additional medical, and Emergency Assistance is evacuation. My credit card has $10,000 in trip cancellation benefits that are comprehensive, and include quarantining. At the time I purchased, CWC was in full swing, and I had no bookings that weren't covered by it. I now have two bookings not covered by it, but my credit card benefit cancellation benefits will suffice. I don't spend over it's limits on one trip, anyway. My regular medical coverage pays anywhere in the world, but reimbursable. So, I look at travel insurance as a stop-gap measure.
  7. I found my age-rated annual policy with Geo-Blue very reasonably priced. Up until just recently all my cruises were covered by RCCL's CWC policy. I'll have to research again for next year.
  8. Me, too. If I have more than one cruise and/or land trip in one year, I buy annual insurance. GeoBlue Essential Trekker was my choice, also. Also, I got Southwest's Emergency Assistance Plus for this year. I found the $187 for GeoBlue was even less expensive than one travel policy for one trip. Plus, most credit cards have good basic trip interruption / trip cancellation / lost luggage benefits.
  9. If someone asked me (and, no one ever has) what my primary reason for an Alaska cruise was, I'd tell them it would be to sail the inside passage, and all the natural beauty along the way and back. I was meh about the glaciers, and wow'd by the soaring eagles, and amazing views. JMO.
  10. Yes, because the travel agent is already associated with the booking, RCCL won't talk to the passenger. That's why the FCC number needs to be obtained from the agent. Then, you're clear to go to RCCL for a new booking.
  11. YOU don't scan the QR code, the eMed proctor does. So, you're showing the code in the back of the camera, and the test kit in front, and then the results on the "stick" after. So, practice with your phone or computer to make sure you can do this. I always use my iPhone, and set it up so I can go behind it and in front of it. Elevation is the key.
  12. The travel agent at the time of booking are the conduit to get notification of the FCC and it's ID number. Call the travel agency, tell them you need that information for your records, that you are still looking and not ready to book again yet. Thank you, goodbye, and call RCCL to book after you get the FCC number. RCCL will see the whole booking history when they look up the FCC.
  13. The virtual balcony cabin I had on the Navi had a nice big chair with a small ottoman next to the virtual outside view. It was nice for reading.
  14. I was stranded in Barcelona once. I needed my passport to check quickly into a hotel for my sick husband, get a quick flight out of Spain, and for countless other things while trying to get home. Europe today is not Europe of 30 years ago, or 15 years ago. One never knows when some policy, rule, or law may have changed and your passport is needed. I keep my passport with me at all times off the ship. I wear it in neck wallet with a titanium cord, and under my clothes. (And, don't even think about taking a picture of your passport nowadays, or showing a picture of it from your phone.)
  15. There IS a free trolley in Aruba. I spent a half day on it in 2020. I believe they stopped during COVID, and hadn't restarted again when I was there this past March. So, I'm very happy to hear it's running again. Very nice experience, the trolleys are really great: ours was all wood, shiny brass, and red. It had a spiral staircase going up to the top deck. The route is nice, too, and I love the street with all the palm trees. When getting off the ship, go to the left where the little kiosk buildings are located. You will notice the the "turnaround circle" tracks on the other side of those kiosks. Wait there for the trolley, but ask anyone selling around there if it's running that day.
  16. Yelp has 15 reviews of OnPoint, and it's average is 1.5 starts. Most of them are recent, too. I think I'll stick with BinaxNOW for proctoring, and use the Federal freebies for home testing.
  17. Like minds think alike???????...........................................
  18. Not to worry. If you ever do reside together, then call C&A and enroll her, or link her to your account. My now DIL was added while on the ship for a family cruise when she and my son were residing together.
  19. Well, I'm not sure if it fell over, someone "posed" them, or what. But yeah, I can see it. Reminds me of my best friend's grandmother, who lived in a nursing facility for about 15 years, and was definitely dotty. She used to pose all her stuffed animals in socially unacceptable positions, which is HILARIOUS, IMO!
  20. Definitely inside passage. Makes a big difference in the "motion". The entire West Coast of the North American Continent is not for sissies. I think San Diego is the only port I've sailed from that didn't have rocky seas.
  21. Seriously, seriously impressed with this! Wow! Amazing tye-die job. Kudos.
  22. If we could just bottle the "coom-by-ah" on this thread, and sprinkle it like fairy "be nice" dust over the rest of the board, that would be helpful. Off topic: I found out where that expression (totally misspelled here): missionaries in Africa were teaching a song called, "Come by Here, Lord", and the Africans pronounced it this way.
