  1. I haven't followed this thread. I'm wondering if the stewards will now have more cabins to clean since they will be cleaning only once a day? Will the number of cabin stewards be reduced? Any thoughts?
  2. The issue may be that you may get island money in change rather than US currency if they don't have enough $s .
  3. We experienced a two hour wait to get a cab after getting off a ship in Barcelona. The line was AWFUL!
  4. The more outlandish in color or pattern, the easier to spot and less likely to be stolen. Buy black luggage and your head will be dizzy, trying to find your luggage in the sea of black luggage.
  5. Thank you for the info. I've never seen non drowsy Dramamine.
  6. This is incorrect. Non-drowsy Dramamine is the same as Bonine. Compare the list of ingredients. The active ingredient is the same.
  7. Do consider the bus. They will insist you put on your seat belt. The earlier you book, the cheaper the seat.
  8. If you order a drink over $14, you pay the difference.
  9. I take a generic Bonine every night going to bed starting the night before the cruise. I have no seasick issues unless it gets extremely rough. It helps a bit with sleep and I have no side effects. My DH won't take it as he is extremely sensitive to anything for sleep. He would feel groggy half the day. Try it at home to see how it affects you.
  10. I think you may find that on European cruises, there will be a more formal vibe than on a Caribbean cruise as there will be more Europeans than Americans.
  11. I'm wondering what the menus are going to be on our 15 night transatlantic. Will they duplicate the menus? Will we have 2 lobster nights?
  12. I believe the only actively growing glacier is Hubbard Glacier. I would not consider an inside cabin doing Alaska. You will spend hours just looking out to see the whales while being in your cabin.
  13. Mijas is a lovely village, high above the coast with a great view of the Med. Highly recommend it.
  14. Take the water taxi ($8) into town. Walk back one block. Take a bus/van ($2 each way) to Maho. Enjoy the day. Do the reverse, leaving enough time for traffic hold ups. You can also walk about a quarter of a mile to Mullet Bay. It has a much better beach. Don't plan on swimming at Maho unless you are a VERY strong swimmer. It has strong currents.
  15. On an Alaska cruise, the entertainment is Alaska, not what is on the ship. I would recommend the Brilliance so that you can get outside to see the scenery and the whales.
  16. Ate 3 times in Chops on the Enchantment in November. Had a package. The ribeye was awful! The pepper bacon was a lump of fat. Will not be going to Chops on the next cruise. Both these were ordered the first night. Meals on nights 2 & 3 were acceptable, not great.
  17. While losing a piece of jewelry is a concern, do have your rings checked by a reputable jeweler on a regular basis. My mother lost the main stone in her ring while washing floors. Discovered the lost after she dumped and flushed the water down the toilet. While in NYC, I looked down at my ring and discovered one of the prongs was missing and another was broken. i was very lucky not to have lost the stone.
  18. Not all US health insurance covers you once you are out of the country. Be aware. Check your insurance!
  19. I never buy the cruise line insurance. Their medical coverage isn't really enough if something major occurs. www.insuremytrip.com or www.squaremouth.com are good options for insurance. For our last cruise I decided to only buy medical insurance, as we could afford to lose the cost of the cruise. We had booked it less than 40 days out. Next cruise, a TA in April-May, have insured both the cruise and medical primary coverage. Secondary coverage means you have to go through your regular health insurance before using the cruise insurance.
  20. I was on a 5 day cruise on the Millenium. A group of managers from a big home supply company were aboard. It was paid for by the company. They behaved as if it was a fraternity party, not observing any of the rules. It was not a pleasant trip.
  21. Use WhatsApp to contact friends and family when you have access to wifi and they have wifi too. Won't cost you anything.
  22. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one with this issue. Bought some small tablets to use with our Library -Libby app. Disappointed that I can't use the RCL Or Celebrity apps. Cannot use Waze, either.
  23. A sharp knife to cut the oranges in half might be an issue.
  24. Yes. Just use one at a time and sign out before signing in on the other.
  25. Years ago, we had to go through Immigration in Key West on the ship. No one could get off the ship until everyone had done it. It was hours before the ship was cleared to go ashore. We lost almost half our time in KW.
