Interesting concept of wearing used clothes and discarding them at the cruise port city.  Does that include a jacket/shoes/socks/underwear all in the bin at the hotel?

I try not to wear a jacket on a plane because I always feel so dirty after a flight.  I couldn't wear it without washing and a jacket is more than I want to deal with using ship's laundry.  I think like most traveler's I wear the clunkiest shoes/boots on the plane and I don't throw those away 🙂

Has anyone gotten luggage tags from porters at the cruise terminal lately?

Southhampton QM2 in September.  They had a table outside set up for this so I'm guessing Cunard passengers aren't as comfortable completing this at home/hotel.  Their embarkation/debarkation was the smoothest, least crowded that I've ever experienced.

  3. Can I just say I'm tired of people thinking it is okay to be rude in public?  Part of my job is monitoring public meetings and some of the stuff I see:(  When did it become okay to be confontational just because you don't agree with someone?  Why do people have to be outraged all the time????

You can be a jerk, no one is stopping you but that isn't how you garner support. You catch more flies with sugar blah, blah, blah.

  4. The Suess Parade looked amazing.  What a nice job for the littles, (and their parents).  I also liked the Noon Day Eve, something I'd never heard of until this review.

That's great about the acceptance of the shower.  FYI DCL ships all have tubs, older HAL has tubs in OV or above, and Carnival has tubs in the deluxe OV on newer ships. It doesn't sound like you'll need that info though 🙂

  5. We normally do carry-on for a 7 night cruise and that is with all of us wearing fresh clothes each day. With a carryon you can't buy much in the way of souvenirs so it is a money as well as timesaver.  Our normal souvenirs are dishtowels which are cheap, don't take up much space, and useful.  We also try to wear something old on the original flight that we'll never want to wear again and then we throw those outfits away at the hotel.

  6. @KmomChicago and @Mommapadraig I think it's the end of an era.  Our 4/19 Quantum cruise has 100 posts but many of those are back and forths on whether people can do a back to back once we arrive in Vancouver, and there was a port change.  For our 8/31 Sapphire Princess there are 3 replies, I haven't joined that one yet.  For my Cunard 3/1/25 and 3/8/25 there aren't any roll calls.

I think some is due to people connecting on other sites and some due to our social unskills since Covid.  Everyone wants to be in their own little family bubble and isn't interested in meeting possible new friends.  If I read one more thread where someone complains that their two top is too close to another table...the dining rooms were designed with the idea that dinner would be social, with people sitting at larger tables and interacting.  Now no one wants to sit with anyone else.  When I'm w/ DH and DS we request a private table so that DS's perseverative conversation doesn't irritate others, but when I cruise solo I like a large table w/ new, possible friends.

  7. More failure on my no buy January. The TA after my QM2 Spain and Portugal had single ocean views available. Those usually sell out the day bookings open so I took it as a sign. I have been successful on not buying things though, I guess that counts as progress.

  8. @Greenpea2 Do you need to buy another car?  I ask because once I started working from home I realized I wasn't driving much and I told DH that when my car died I probably wouldn't replace it.  This was early on and he vehemently disagreed but 3-4 months in he said the same thing.  He can drive me places, or I can take Uber, and I do 95% of my shopping online.  It could be that I will feel differently when my car starts to give me issues.  Maybe not.  The whole idea of testing for a South Carolina license is a nope, not happening thing.

  9. I'm a net zero packer.  I bring enough for each day and that's it.  If something happened and I had to send laundry out I'd rather do that then cart around just in case clothing.  By the time we pack for home all the dirty clothes are in laundry bags and the only clean clothes are the plane clothes in the closet or drawers.  Makes an easy unpack when we get home too...laundry bags to the laundry room, done!

My bag finally got under the seat but her foot went right back. She was in my seat the majority of the flight. She kept getting in her big ol bag and elbowing me over and over. She got her iPad. She used hand sanitizer. She had to get more snacks. She played a puzzle game with cats.

So rude.  You get your stuff the second you find your seat and than you stay sat down. If I forget something tough darts for me.

So someone on @pebbles1102's live asked for an acronym in place of FOMO- we're not afraid of missing out, we ARE missing out!

So I created my own acronym just for the Tribe cruise- MOSIAC (Missing Out, Sniveling In A Corner).

For all of you reading along with our Tribe brethren, feel free to use it!

That was me, love the new acronym.
