  1. Viking Ocean is very nice. Small ships. Food is somewhat better than Celebrity--particularly for breakfast in the dining room. Spa is free and fantastic. Entertainment is smaller scale. Problem is the limited itineraries in the Caribbean. And payment is generally due a year in advance.
  2. I have several cruises booked with Oceania. Also plan to try Azamara, the reborn Crystal and Virgin.
  3. Frog in the pot. As time passes, most suite perks will be removed. Or required for an extra charge.
  4. Who would think that Panama could run out of rain?
  5. Just be sure to tell them which plan you want the drink applied to. I am pretty sure they will apply the sodas to the soda package first but it doesn't hurt to mention it.
  6. If the cruse lines can get away with it without losing too many customers, they will do it.
  7. My first thought too. I fear some cruise lines are going to go to a floating hotel model. The cruise fare only includes your cabin but everything else is ala carte.
  8. This topic is confusing. Some said yes others said no.
  9. Why not? Celebrity is two hour cocktail hour for Elite but not first day. Royal perk is four drinks or coffees a day for Diamond. Elite Plus perk is free specialty coffees all day. Original post said they were Elite not Elite Plus.
  10. This is the Royal perk not the Celebrity perk.
  11. https://abcnews.go.com/Lifestyle/caribbean-islands-generally-hit-hurricanes/story?id=40407011 As another poster mentioned, even if hurricanes don't often hit the ABC islands, you have a long way to go to get back and forth between Florida and those islands.
  12. Odessey of the Seas. I like the size and the features. Reminds me of a Celebrity Solstice class ship but more stuff for the kids.
  13. I haven’t been able to find it for my cruises booked before Simply More.
  14. My water stayed very cold because I could never get the BOTTLE open so I threw it in the trash
  15. I hate the aluminum cans. Between the wetness and my surgically reduced grip strength, I often can’t get then open
  16. Yes, this is one thing that you shouldn't overthink. Pay attention to forward or aft, pay attention to what is above and below your cabin. Pay attention to crew entrances near your cabin. On a tranatlantic, pay attention to whether you want sun or shade. But port or starboard otherwise doesn't matter that much.
  17. And been in plenty of ports where you did not want to be facing the side where the ship accesses the dock. Lots of containers are your view for the day.
  18. The problem is that the ship doesn't always dock on the same side in the same ports. The Magic Carpet is rarely used for departures so you can't use that side to judge where your view will be.
  19. Bottom line: Given the current stock price and fundamentals, don't buy Royal stock just to get $100-200 of onboard credit. Consult a professional before investing.
  20. When a Hampton Inn costs more than $300 a night in a nice area, cruising is a relative bargain.
  21. As you know, under the new program, you will be paying for them whether or not you use them.
  22. That and the increased pent-up demand for cruising because of Covid. And more people cruising because of more marketing.
