  1. We like to stay within easy walking distance of Bryant Park and Times Square. For a trip to NYC in early June, we're trying the Casablanca Hotel on West 43rd Street. Lots of subway choices (Bronx Zoo, Yankee Stadium and Brooklyn Botanical Gardens are on our agenda for this trip) and easy to get to hotel for a rest if need be. From this area, access to Manhattan Cruise Terminal, by taxi, very easy.
  2. For a first-time visitor it may very well make a big difference. Hopping on the bus at EWR and being delivered to Bryant Park is easy and painless. Taking buses and subways from LGA to Manhattan may be a bit daunting for visitors, especially if they have luggage.
  3. I expect you are flying in to New York. Which airport? This may help narrow down your search.
  4. If a visitor to Montreal is interested in places of worship, they ought to check this out: https://centrebell.ca/en/guided-tours
  5. Take a look at the schedule(s) in post #2. You have to make your way to the ferry, take a one hour boat ride, look around Avalon and take a ferry back in enough time to be onboard for departure. I'm sure it will become apparent that all this is not practical/feasible on a port day stop.
  6. I suspect it was the airline/baggage handlers. What do you plan on doing?
  7. Yes. In Ontario, the minimum wage is $16.55/hour. Service industry workers are not paid less than this. You need to adjust your understanding of how 'the world' works.... it doesn't necessarily mimic what's permissible in your state.
  8. As 1025cruise said.... the ship time will change to Alaska time (local time), you will change your watch and everybody ought to be on the same time as the people running the excursions.
  9. I expect Billy wasn't huffy because of the tip; the amount was much too low.
  10. Well then, I'd say 'someone' is too easily insulted if they believe there is any relationship between what they paid for their cruise and what they may be offered by non-cruise transportation operators. Following your reasoning, cruisers ought to turn their ire on to the cruise lines for every problem they have at an airport or with an air carrier.
  11. Why should the quality of the product offered by operators of air, rail and bus modes of transport be linked to a cruise passengers expectations?
  12. Yes, taxis will be on hand to meet train passengers.
  13. Easter in Istanbul will be pretty much like any other weekend in that city. The weather should be very pleasant in third week of April.... go and enjoy yourself.
  14. I'd say that would be pretty tricky if you arrive and leave same day from San Pedro. Here is the website with schedules: https://www.catalinaexpress.com/schedule-fares.html
  15. And the barrel chairs although that pretty much hurt everybody.
  16. Access to/from cruise ships is normally by a shuttle that operates out of Piazza Grande. Are you boarding the cruise ship in Livorno or is this just a port of call? Which ship?
  17. There's one theory... I suspect it's not correct. If that's the case, the rest of your argument pretty much falls to pieces. Good luck with your bid(s).
  18. I think you'll find that the posters who mentioned Air Canada are in Canada.
  19. No. The higher up the cabin, the more prone to rolling. Frankly, I agree with Buckeye; it's really not a problem unless the weather gets really wild and, if that's the case, it doesn't much matter where the cabin is located.
  20. Gawd.... just imagine. Fortunately, English is widely spoken in Vancouver. If, for some reason, the taxi gets stranded and cannot make it to the airport (this seldom happens to the tens of thousands of other travelers who get to the airport this way), the OP ought to be able to get by.
  21. Careful.... $40 Canadian for the taxi works out to about $30 US, which is what your transfer will cost. Considering all the time you might spend waiting on the transfer, you may wish to reconsider your plan. And you only pay a single taxi fare.
  22. This is what bumboats and block & tackle are good for. Horry Hornblower could easily do this.
