Crew to Passenger Ratio / Cutbacks Impacting Service?
wineoclock replied to Cap_D's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Our retreat host made it clear that we could order through room service or go to the lounge for drinks etc. he was too rushed off his feet to help make our stay special. He was a room attendant and most certainly not a replacement for the butler! The ‘team’ imo were non existent. Still suites on our upcoming Apex cruise are almost sold out so people are still paying the prices! We decided that unless a move up or a guarantee we will no longer sail in a suite on X as the value (for us) is no longer there. -
Crew to Passenger Ratio / Cutbacks Impacting Service?

Luckily we had booked on board before the increase in deposit. We lost £250 or thereabouts. It was worth it for the £13,000 difference! I may have had more pause for thought if I’d paid 10% deposit! -
Crew to Passenger Ratio / Cutbacks Impacting Service?

I concur re butler. Were on beyond in SS in October. Night and day to our cruise last October in a CS on Apex. None of the things that made sailing in a suite special. And at those prices can’t justify it. Moved our upcoming X cruise from a CS to an SV and with the money have booked a cruise on Regent in concierge for less than a SS. No butler but I didn’t get that this October either. -
I’m not clear how the MDR situation works on Edge class ships.

We’ve made reservations for 8.30pm every night on our upcoming Apex cruise. I’m hoping even if not honoured it won’t be too difficult getting a table at that time. -
Scandinavia and Norwegian Fjords in June - Thoughts
wineoclock replied to JDPCruisers's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We went end May start June this year. Weather was fine and lots of waterfalls. Great time to go though I wouldn’t book uk half term again as no so many children on board! -
We love eating at 8.30. It’s the time we generally eat at home as well. Our dinner reservations for our upcoming cruise are all at 8.30. Works for us.

Greece and Med sailing - which is better month?
wineoclock replied to Cruise Gopher's topic in Celebrity Cruises
God not August. And I’m Cypriot and used to the heat. June or September are always safe. We usually do a Med cruise in October and that’s perfect. Occasionally day of rain but not always! -
We had this on our cruise in June. I find it really frustrating as it’s clearly an IT issue.

On our recent cruise I complained about one of our ‘small shore excursion’ in Corfu. wherever we went we were constantly waiting for the other ‘small group’ to join us on coffee breaks and wine experience making us a large group. I got a refund of 25%. It just wasn’t good enough experience.

This is interesting. Dh came back from our recent Beyond cruise with an ‘unusual respiratory infection’ according to our GP., Thinking back there was a whiff but I didn’t think much of it and whenever we are in cabin have balcony doors open for air.

I love the magnets and hang up our coats or sweatshirts on them. Wish they’d work for hotel rooms also!

Can I ask if we can go to dinner earlier than our reservations? I’ve made reservations for 8.30pm (but in the unlikely event) there may be an occasion or 2 that we would prefer to eat earlier, wonder if possible or not? TIA

Retreat guests - worth booking Le Voyage?
wineoclock replied to richczarnecki's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Thought it was good but not fantastic. But we regularly eat at Michelin restaurants and have been to San Sebastián this year. The lamb chops were amazing. -
Time to leave luggage in the hallway the night before disembarking
wineoclock replied to zitsky's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Our retreat host asked us to have it out by 10.30pm on our Beyond cruise in October as that’s when he finished his shift. -
We usually go to OVC in not in a suite. I like the gluten free pizzas so generally head back there to order. It’s far quieter and advantage that apart from chef no one has touched my food! And I don’t need to use utensils others have used.

Crew to Passenger Ratio / Cutbacks Impacting Service?
wineoclock replied to Cap_D's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We were on Beyond in October and service ok. Not great but ok. In June on Silhouette wasn’t good. I was subsequently told that there were a lot of staff isolating so I’m sure that has an impact still on certain sailings. As for our cruise in October in a SS? well let’s just say it’s not as good as it was on our Apex cruise last year. And not what we paid for. My survey reflected that. Whether I write to HO I’m not sure. Have one more cruise booked with X in an SV, as just not paying those suite prices, for not great service. Cruise next October is Regent for first time. -
Bingo is back…at least on Reflection
wineoclock replied to cruisestitch's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We were on Beyond 20th October. The queue for Bingo sale tickets was so long and then the queue to get in. Hopefully X sees its popular and keeps it! Was on a sea day. -

Wouldn’t pay full price I don’t think

Well I’m not keen on the new ship name. Don’t think it works with the other E class ship names, but obviously somebody at Celebrity, who is paid lots of money must think it does.
-
I agree with this. Include tips as standard and say they cannot be removed! We generally tip a bit extra anyway and see it as a bonus for the staff.
-
I was on the same sailing but unfortunately didn’t meet Charla or her husband. I can confirm that the retreat host is not a butler and none of those things promised by X materialised, for us anyway. It wasn’t the same butler experience and if I’d paid full price I’d be miffed. Charla May have a different view so am looking forward to hearing her viewpoint.

Edge class - which cabin would you choose?
wineoclock replied to DonnaK's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Neither. I’d want a proper balcony. So I’d probably book a different class of ship or another line if no SV or suites at a decent price. -
Will Celebrity cancel Turkey ports for 2024

Usually sail X. Have booked a Regent cruise next October stopping at Kusadasi. Still showing as a stop. -
Food & Beverage Update from the President
wineoclock replied to AnnaNicole's topic in Celebrity Cruises
And also you have someone like myself, who for less than a SS, book a Regent cruise on one of their new ships. It’s not with a butler (but didn’t have that on my last cruise anyway), but concierge so hotel stay & flights included as well as excursions which would cost me more on Celebrity.
