Guess it's time for a change on the Breakaway, Margaritaville will be taking the place of Uptown grill. Changes are coming soon, but no date has been posted, but we all know how things can change on a ship overnight.

Just guessing but probably a fee to eat at Margaritaville??

Escape's Margaritaville was a big disappointment to us. Too expensive for what they were offering. I like eating at land-based Margaritaville's but this one didn't have the atmosphere and the food wasn't as good, especially for the prices! And don't get me wrong, I have no problem paying a little extra for something good & unique on a ship. Loved Escape's Food Republic.

Hope they don't do this to the Flamingo Grill on the Getaway. Absolutely love the Flamingo Grill for breakfast and really great and unique lunch menu.

And uptown grill is free . And suppose to have the best burgers . I just hope I get a chance to try it first before they switch it out

If they switch the restaurant out it should at the least be a free one that they put back in

This is where they failed on the Escape (still a great ship!)

It's so nice to have an outdoor venue with good burgers, salads, etc. so you don't have to go in to the crowded buffet.

So how do you know this is happening? Who is your source?

I know this because when I was running on the track early one morning, like 6:30 they had Margaritaville signs up over the Flamingo grill signs and they were taking photos. I asked a nice gentleman in a fancy white uniform if they were changing over and he said that was the plan.

The  is in response to your rude and entitled tone. As you just demonstrated again.

I dont give a flying fart if you believe me or not.

I certainly wasn't meaning it that way. I was just asking where info was coming from. I think if you read all of my posts in this thread and others you would see I'm not that kind of poster. I do apologize if you felt my question was rude.

The Flamingo Grill --> Margaritaville would be one of the worst things that could happen to the Getaway. It might be the most "Miami" thing about the ship...the Cuban food there is a great (and less crowded) alternative to the buffet. Also, Margaritaville is everywhere...it's in all the ports the ships goes to, so why would you put one on board? Especially with it going to Europe...don't think they care about Margaritaville.

If any felt this was a rude question, it certainly wasn't what I intended. Just wondering where the information was coming from. And I do know we often hear things on Cruise Critic before NCL tells us. As someone who loves the Getaway I always am interested in what changes may come.

I saw nothing wrong with your question, as I was wondering the same.

I don't mind NCL expanding Margaritaville to other ships, so long as they find a place for the Brew House as well. And Food Republic while they're at it. :)

Excellent suggestion:D Two great venues that should be added to all ships!

(And if anyone has missed your fabulous review of the Escape, I strongly recommend they search for it. Be warned you will not be able to stop reading once you find it.....it's worth losing some sleep this week-end for it!)

You stated you "just heard", and then later commented you learned of this while jogging one morning. Are you onboard now?

The BA is an terrible design not only on the top decks but the atrium the casino Bliss and the theater with those metal rods sticking into your back on the seats . the ridiculous small pool area ...the the slides are nice but take up too much space

Manhattan room is nice as is waterfront but the open smoky casino and the miniature atrium are downright ridiculous

and can't compare to the Gem IMHO

Uptown was one of the few things that was special about the ba and believe it or not something we considered when booking our next cruise

Would it be the gem or BA?

How ridiculous is it when comparing the 2 ships that it comes down to Uptown?

As someone who has cruised both ships.....and disliked the Ba....it's not really ridiculous at all that uptown becomes a factor. Lol

What a shame to remove uptown

My guess is the sabrett carts are next

It's new freestyle cruising, fine - count us out for having one more paying venue. It's already resembling, kind of, a food court in the shopping mall - except, it won't take Apple Pay, Samsung Pay or Android Pay ... yet.

We never pay for food at a land-based M, closest one to us @ Resorts in AC, which is complimentary as our host would take care of it, should we want to eat something there ... which we don't. And why would we pay for it on a cruise. No way, Jose.

I understand and don't mind others getting all excited with the changes and lined up to pre-book, cool - we will get out of the way. Meanwhile, if that means a shorter line & faster services at OSH (or, soon to be renamed - as reported earlier by sources ??) - it's a tradeoff & make it a win-win all around. When Shanghai Noodles was a la carte with a fee, it was ghosty nightly and now it's free, lines formed each evening for what some consider sub-par Chinese fast food. To which their own, it is what it is.

Just leave those oversized lounger chairs near the UG under the shades alone !!

So another free venue gets replaced with a fee restaurant!!!Way to go NCL!!!If they continue like this in two years from now there is going to be a fee for having a pillow on your bed or an extra fee for having turndown service plus 18% gratuity of course for our convenience!!!!
