My 5000th Posting

Today I hit 5000. In fact, this is my 5000th posting on CC. I am not for sure why the number of postings anyone makes matters, but I guess it is kind of fun to see how active each and every one of us is. I thought I would share what my experiences have been on CC and what they mean to me.

I guess the one thing I have learned above all else is that those that hate never last and those of us who love cruising stay forever. I have actually been a member of CC for years although for some reason my profile only shows me being a member since April of last year. One thing I have seen come and go are haters of every kind. Haters of certain kinds of people, haters of certain cruiselines or certain ships, haters of certain posters, etc, etc. But what I remember the most are those who love cruising, who love fellow cruisers and who love Cruise Critic. I am of the latter. I have to say I have loved cruising since my first step aboard my first cruise ship and I have loved CC since the first time Doug told me he found it and we read some of the reviews on it together.

To it's credit I have seen CC leave postings alone that I know I would have deleted quickly if CC were mine. However they let us all share the good and the bad experiences we all have even if some of them are the ones we don't want to read.

It is odd to me that the threads that seem to praise a certain ship or cruiseline often "do not last" but a day or two on the main posting page, and yet other kinds of postings can last forever it seems.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the threads that are started to share a tip for cruising. My favs I have learned from them are to take a highlighter with us to highlight events or showings, etc in the Freestyle Daily that we do not want to miss, to take Thank You cards with us for the tips for the Butler, Concierge, and Room Stewards. Heck, I could sit here and list these tips forever. Again, my favorite kinds of threads.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE NCL and the NCL board here. I love reading about all of their ships and the experiences my fellow CC'ers have onboard. Yes I like to read about both the good and not so good. I love reading the well rounded reviews. No cruise is perfect, although I have to say the closest we have come to a perfect cruise has been on NCL. Freestyle just fits us perfectly. We enjoyed traditional cruising greatly, but for us, Freestyle is where it's at. 8-)

Even if this makes me sound like a sad lonely person - which I am not by the way.. 8-).. I have made some great friends here on CC. It is odd to me, or unusual I guess you could say, that I would feel close to a group of people that I have, for the most part, never met. I am sorry it took our fouth cruise on NCL before I discovered how much I enjoy M&G's. We were always "too busy" on our first three and I regret that a great deal. It was such a pleasure meeting the people we met on our cruise last October. I know a lot of people love the M&G's because of the officers being there, etc, but for me, it is because you all are there. If you have read my previous postings about this subject, you know that I am not impressed by officers of the ship, even the captain. I have to get to know someone in that aspect to really appreciate them, just like I feel like I get to know people here on CC. I bet I could fill up a ship with folks on this board and on CC in general I would love to cruise with.

I hope in my 5000 posts I have helped someone enjoy their cruise just a little bit better. Even if it was just one person, it honest was worth all the typing. I truely missed my calling in life. My calling was to help people love cruising as much as I do. Not for sure how to make a living at that yet, but maybe some day I will find a way.. 8-)

Thanks for taking the time to read this if you have read to here so far.

Hi, Terry!

Wow - that's a good record to have. It was a pleasure to meet you on the Pearl, and I hope our paths cross again sometime.

I always enjoy your positive slant on things.

We are going to South America on the Sun this coming December - I'll let you know how that works out!

Cheers!

Annette

5000 is a great milestone. Many others have come and gone over the years. I have enjoyed your posts and appreciated your kind and non judgemental comments. I look forward to meeting you on some future cruise (like November 1st on the Dawn).

Congratulations Terry.

I remember when I first joined here just over a year ago having booked my first cruise that your posts were kind, helpful and above all useful. They certainly helped us to go on our first cruise with confidence and knowledge to enjoy it to the full. So much so that I now have 3 NCL cruises under my belt and a fourth one booked for next February, getting to be a veteran cruiser!

I really look forward to reading all of your next 5,000 posts and sincerely hope that one day we will find ourselves on a ship together. It would be a blast I am sure.

Keep up the good work!

Love and best wishes

Annette.. I still talk to Doug about you guys and how much I enjoyed meeting you. You are truely kind and caring people. You will LOVE the Sun. She was our first NCL ship and we were in 10065 aft. The nicest suite we have ever had and the balcony to die for. I loved the Sun and how it is laid out. Some people will complain about her layout, but we loved her. Had a blast in her casino by the way. Hit several jackpots. 8-). Still keeping my fingers crossed we run into you again at a M&G some day.

I really enjoyed talking back and fourth with you on your first NCL cruise on the Star. If my memory is right, you got on the ship the day we got off of it for the Alaskan cruise. It may have been the next week though. Come to think of it I bet it was the next week because I remember talking to you about that wonderful cafe in Ennumclaw (SP?) and how you were going to spend time there with friends and I hoped you would get to try those WONDERFUL pancakes.. LOL.

Terry,

I hope to be able to meet you one a cruise sometime. Your posts have always been well thought-out, and I've appreciated them. Perhaps you can teach me how to use that thing they call the casino?

PS Now it says "5,000+ Club" under your name on all your posts now. Cool, huh?

Congrats, Terry! You are one of the people that make CC such a great resource, and you are often the voice of reason on many threads. I admire your patience and perseverence as you welcome the new people to the board and answer the same questions again and again and again. :) Here's to your next 5000 posts!

Oh, too bad -we're on the December 6 cruise from Argentina. It coincides with my birthday - that's a good reason to go! We'll cross paths in Chile - looking forward to the cruise!
