Cigars on Escape?

Is it bring your own or do they also sell them in the cigar bar?

They sell some cigars, and have bought them on board, but last time we cruised we brought our own. We saved money, and didnt have to wait for the bartender to find the 'cigar girl' to unlock the humidor and help us. They also have a small selection for sale at the bar at Spice.

Funny how cigars will attract or repel people. There's no maybe. RCCL had a good Ida with cigars under the stars where they turned a bar on the top deck to a smoking section at night. Open air with no smoke and a bartender. Problem is with the inside smoking areas they can get crowded and bar service isn't as readily available. I have brought my own on board as well as buying on the islands. Never bought on the ship.

That is a fabulous idea...too bad NCL hasn't picked up on this yet. My hubby's favourite place to have his cigars at home is on the deck, under the stars...with a scotch. I'm less likely to join him in a closed off, smokey indoor venue.

He can onboard. At the Spice H20 bar they sell cigars. While its not called a cigar lounge, a few weeks ago (on the Breakaway, and previously on the Getaway) I witnessed smokers sitting alongside the bar (in the smoking section) enjoying their cigars in the fresh air. We never smoked there because I dont like getting covered in the inevitable flying ash.

On the Escape right now enjoying a cigar in the Lounge/Humidor. Here's initial thoughts.

1. Can't buy from them until after 4pm. Selection is ok.

2. The Lounge/Humidor is very poorly ventilated.

3. Unlike the Getaway, you cannot smoke the cigar right outside adjacent on the deck.

The problem with the Cigar lounge on the Escape as well as on the Getaway is that although the lounge is clearly marked for cigar smoking there is a constant parade of cigarette smokers fouling the atmosphere which overwhelms the air filtration system making the space uninhabitable at times.

Agree 100%...hate the indoor venue and love the outdoors for smoking a cigar.

I like my Irish Whiskey or Sambuca on the rocks with my cigar!;p

Heavy cigar smoker, just sailed on the Escape last week.

The cigar lounge is really great.

While I echo the sentiment that there are a lot of cigarette smokers there, I met some really great people who were in there to smoke cigarettes. It adds to the social vibe.

I think for a room the size it is (appx 400sq ft.) it's fairly well ventilated.. depending on the amount of smokers, you could either stink or barely smell more than you would if you smoked alone outdoors. You should wear a designated smoking jacket/ shirt if you plan on sitting for an hour anyhow.

I really loved that it has two huge windows that face the deck/ ocean.

There is bar service from Tobacco Road and they have port and armagnac for sale at the $9.95/glass price with good pours.

Ashtrays emptied frequently. Very clean and comfortable with about 16 seats to be had, all plush. No TVs, which is great. A nice place to meet people, read a book or even watch the ocean.

I would definitely recommend you BRING YOUR OWN, as there is no cutting fee and the selection there is blah and expensive. If you've left home without, Miami has Deco Drive Cigars, Orlando has Corona Cigar Company, NY has Nat Sherman and Davidoff.

With regard to the other designated smoking areas  [SpiceH20 (Port side bar only), the pool bar on 17, Haven smoking area on 19, and the Casino smoking area]; you are technically NOT permitted to smoke cigars in ANY of them. Though I was only told to put mine out in the Casino (twice) and SpiceH20 on a quiet night (once), and tried everywhere.

That said, if you respect your cigar, you wouldn't want the wind smoking it for you anyway, so the Cigar Lounge at Tobacco Road is the move; unless in port/ stationary on a still night.

Happy smokes and sails!

There are several good cigar shops in Miami (and Little Havana of course!) One of them will even pick you up at your hotel, but I can't remember which one it was.  Hubby likes the cigars he gets from the guy in Roaton right there at the Port. He always picks some up when we're there too. I didn't know about being able to smoke at Spice H20 - hoping it is the same way on the Bliss. Thanks for the info!
